Let Us Show Our Gratitude, They Cried Out In Unison
Yes, it’s time to remind patrons that this rickety barge, on whose seating your arses rest, is kept afloat by the kindness of strangers. If you’d like to help it remain buoyant a while longer, and remain ad-free, there are shiny buttons below the fold with which to monetise any love. Debit and credit cards are accepted. If one-click haste is called for, there’s a QR code in the sidebar, at which you point your phone, and my PayPal.Me page can be found here. As requested, I’ve added SubscribeStar and Ko-Fi accounts, via which love may also be monetised, whether as one-off donations or monthly subscriptions.
Additionally, any Amazon UK shopping done via this link, or for Amazon US via this link, or via the buttons in the sidebar, results in a small fee for your host at no extra cost to you. Feel free to buy things wildly and in bulk. Office supplies, toilet paper, a new washing machine. It’s all good.
For newcomers wishing to know more about what’s been going on here for the last sixteen years, in over 3,000 posts and close to 200,000 comments, the reheated series is a pretty good place to start – in particular, the end-of-year summaries, which convey the fullest flavour of what it is we do. A sort of blog concentrate. If you like what you find there… well, there’s lots more of that. Do take a moment to poke through the discussion threads too. The posts are intended as starting points, not full stops, and the comments are where much of the good stuff is waiting to be found. And do please join in.
As always, thanks for the support, the comments, and the company.
Oh yes. The buttons.
Should cover my bar tab. 🙂
Ping!
Bless you, sir, and bless you, madam. May you always be able to find the correct size of bin liner, thus avoiding the need for something akin to origami, but with more tutting and cursing.
Skillz.
Bookmarked the Amazon link. I needed a quick way to get there so why not? Hope it helps, I use Amazon a lot.
*pings tip jar*
Thanks, David
Bless you both. May you always remember to put plenty of extra cheese on the store-bought pizza.
For those who misses this gal positively giddy that she got a cookie, she now has an update as to why you should reject cookies.
Also, an entitlement issue.
Ping.
Some left-over thoughts: National parks–I guess the problem is that the train doesn’t go there? Therefore racist? In the South (US) in the rural areas, black folks were (looking back 50 yrs) avid hunters and fishermen. Growing up in big urban areas I was always able to find woods to go for a walk. Perhaps not in UK. To claim that POC can’t find any is like the claim that they don’t know how to get ID to vote.
For those missed it, we’ve been talking about this rather farcical article – one of many that seem based on the same template.
The author of the piece, Ms Natalie Morris, is of course a Guardian contributor, and therefore schooled in the required contortions.
I can only speak regarding the Peak District National Park, which is literally a five-minute drive away. There is public transport to the park and the villages in it, though the buses and trains may not be frequent by urban standards. Maybe once an hour. But that’s pretty much the nature of a National Park.
Well, the article does rather reek of the racial condescension favoured by self-styled ‘progressives’.
I’ve been reading your blog for ages, David. Finally clicked the button. 🙂
Did it work?
[looks for loose change in bottom of purse]
Ping!
It did indeed. And bless you, sirs, and bless you, madam. Should you decide to buy a new sofa, may the price include some burly chaps hauling away the old one.
I did not know this.
They bring gifts.
“That’s not fair to her or to me.“
New subgenre discovered.
You can fool some of the people . . .
This is supposed to make polyamory look good…?
Also ping!
Bless you, madam. May you know the satisfaction of a sturdy, reliable, zippable freezer bag.
Pinged… I see your well deserved gratitude request post here got linked at Insty via Special Ed. Done in his not-as-helpful-as-it-could-be Special Ed kind of way.
That’s one serious rabbit hole.
P.S. *ping*
Bless you, sirs. May you find ample parking.
I’ll take that as a compliment.
It’s been a long day and it’s almost time for me to be horizontal, but thanks to all who’ve chipped in so far, or subscribed, or done shopping via the Amazon links, including all those much too shy to say hello.
It’s much appreciated and is what keeps this place here.
Is it OK if I just leave this here?

Is it OK if I just leave this here?
Well, that depends. If David tells you no, will you remove it, or will you throw a tantrum like the nitwit in the story?
(Kidding, of course.)
Might be real but smells like things from the Things That Never Happened file.
That.
Tip jar hit.
But these articles are very much of a type – they’re practically interchangeable – and they all seem geared to the racially neurotic. Imagine the levels of contrivance required to think that, for instance, Mr Adeyemi’s gratuitously provocative and antisocial attitude will somehow invite sympathy.
It’s a phenomenon we’ve seen before, fairly vividly:
Ben Sixsmith has some related thoughts.
Bless you, sir. May you never be presented with a flaccid crumpet.
Band name.
Consider yourself pinged.
Bless you, sir. May your white kitchen surfaces be unstained by turmeric.
Ben Sixsmith has some related thoughts.
I don’t claim to be any kind of expert on religion, nor am I saying a
BAMEPOGM can’t be a member of the CoE, but I am thinking that the etymology and history of “Anglican” might give a clue that maybe including, for example, Rastafarian rites might be straying a bit.On the subject of the ludicrous term POGM, I thought Asians (at least East Asians) were hwite adjacent, and even if not, aren’t they the real POGM?
I suppose cutting to the chase and going to “blankes and nie blankes” is out of the question.
Are you a non-POGM? Good news, then fuggedaboudit, you are a made man!
Majority? That would be women, right? Oh…well…still…probability wise or even improbability wise…whatever any of that means.
Ladies, surrender your toilets.
Ladies, surrender your toilets.
Note this response there:
Good men need to help us. If you see a man heading for the women’s bathroom or gym locker room, say something. Either stop him, or loudly announce “A MAN IS COMING IN, BEWARE .” They are violent, they always want to slap or shoot us if we say one word.
Hm, so a woman needs a man to stand up for her and protect her. Where have I heard of that concept before?
Ben Sixsmith has some related thoughts.
It’s like watching Lou Costello’s thought process in “do you have two tens for a five” where he can’t figure out a principled basis for the sequence of transactions that have taken place, but he’s pretty sure that more money has gone in one direction than the other.
Why is it that small numbers used to be the good guys who needed protection from being picked on by the big numbers, but now the big numbers are the good guys whose rightful place is being usurped by the small numbers? Because whites are becoming minorities in what used to be their own electoral districts, cities, countries.
Whites aren’t an ethnic minority in Indonesia or any other non-white country in the sense of their small numbers giving them any moral leverage. They’re guests who can be asked to leave if they get in the way of Indonesians running their own country as they see fit.
Just like a fish needs a bicycle, I would like to say to all those feminists.
“Global Majority”: whites indeed have no rights even if a minority. In Uganda, Idi Amin forced whites and Indians to leave. In Rhodesia, whites had to leave and their land was taken. The standard of living plummeted. In S. Africa, blacks took over and the country is heading south. If you live on the south side Chicago, you do not get any special protection. The opposite. We are the new devils.
As to everyone belonging to the global majority: immigrants from India and Iran (as examples I know well) act white culturally and do not view themselves as allied with blacks or hispanics. Asians are victims of hate crimes by blacks and college discrimination by the woke. Brown-ness is not that great of a unifying force as they claim.
As noted here,
Other words are available.
Hm, so a woman needs a man to stand up for her and protect her.
Women don’t need men…unless there is a fire, or a barking dog, or a homeless person, or a spider, or something on a high shelf, or or or…
Re my previous, it’s worth noting how our progressive betters so often seem determined to applaud and encourage precisely the kind of practised victimhood and chippy, whiny self-absorption that, in the real world, doesn’t generally result in a warm welcome.
For that matter, see also the post on supposedly “racist” traffic cameras, and the familiar excuses for antisocial, indeed sociopathic, behaviour.
One might almost begin to wonder if there were a pattern.
racist traffic cameras: a traffic camera cannot tell what race the driver is. Unless you are claiming that POC can’t help themselves, and obeying rules is racist (a revealing view itself), the claim simply reveals that you are delusional. Even tickets given by cops is dubious–have you ever tried to guess the race or even sex of someone in a car in front of you or with tinted windows? I can’t. Cops can? Do they have esp?
The POC – well, their lavishly remunerated ‘representatives’ – claim just that.
At the gym today I’m in the shower and I hear a loud(ish) voice say, “Wemhfndrgjhggffghhjd”. Somehow, by the tone of the voice…and the signs I frequently see in the locker room, I realize that a woman has entered and is cleaning it. Actually in this case, turned out to be two women. How I could possibly know such a thing is simply amazing, according to the standards of our clown world society.
And most of their elected representatives also make those claims.
If American POC’s keep supporting evil “representatives” and keep electing evil legislators then it is only reasonable to conclude that they share those twisted values.
Even as a mere lurker, I’m glad to contribute.
POGM. Huh. Just the other day I learned about “historically minoritized communities”.
Both of these language twists seem intended to serve the same purpose: to prevent the advent of white minority rights, when whites become minorities in any locale.
trial balloons, in other words.
Brown-ness is not that great of a unifying force as they claim.
I know around SoCal that Central & South Americans can’t stand Chicano arrogance.
When Harry met Sally at the LA Philharmonic …
Keep up the good work. *donates to blog preservation fund*
So ‘structural racism’ made him run those red lights? How can anyone take these people seriously?
Well, nodding in agreement – which is what readers of the article are clearly expected to do – would be quite a feat of mental and moral gymnastics. The causes of the selfishness on display are framed as external and mysterious, always rather nebulous and tricky to pin down. The more obvious notions of agency and personal responsibility – of bad choices made, over and over again – somehow escape mention, even as possibilities, as things one might consider.
Instead, all parties play the well-practised game of Obligatory Excuse-Making. That way, no-one has to learn anything, or become a less shitty person.
Inevitably, we arrive at a farcical contradiction:
And this is what we. the readers, are supposed to nod along with. Again, wokeness is stupefying. It makes a person absurd.
Bless you, sirs. When visiting a website in which you’re barely interested, may you not immediately be greeted by four pop-up boxes, appearing all but simultaneously, asking you to subscribe, or to join a mailing list, or to perform some other task, before you’ve had a chance to read even a single sentence.
The above applies equally if you substitute “shooting” for “reckless driving” and “gun violence” for “traffic violence”. The “structural racism” is of course all-encompassing.
Any criticism of behaviours such as carrying guns as fashion accessories, over-reaction towards the mildest of perceived slights and actually aiming at the person you have a beef with rather than firing indiscriminately from a moving vehicle into a party, wedding or other gathering will be interpreted as further evidence of structural racism preventing young black men (or children as they are referred to whenever statistics are used to push a narrative) from doing what comes naturally.
The ProPublica site, which published the traffic camera “analysis” quoted above, hails itself as “Journalism that holds power to account.” Which, given its writers’ determination to avoid holding people to account for their serious and habitual criminal activity – activity that endangers lives – seems somewhat ironic.
And the writers of this “analysis” are supposedly professional journalists, the recipients of numerous awards. And their outpourings were apparently proof-read by a third, equally professional journalist. Yet none of them spotted, or were willing to acknowledge, the glaringly obvious problems, the endless begged questions, and the general, almost comical, air of contrivance.
It is, I think, fair to wonder why.
Perhaps they were busy stipulating their made-up pronouns.
It was structural racism that made this guy commit this heinous crime.
I think it was Steve Sailer who remarked that you can fairly reliably guess the race of the shooter from the number of victims: If there were more wounded than killed the shooter was almost certainly black.
Shocking result from bleeding edge research.
Given a sufficiently large research grant I’m confident I could prove that transgender men face zero risk of prostate cancer.

“A Just Stop Oil activist was seen falling to the ground after a car drove through groups of protesters.………….This is a breaking news story. Please check back for more information later”.
I hope the car is OK.
Pinged something for your trouble, barkeep.
Bless you, sir. May you never struggle to be interesting.
I’m assuming you mean this.
“Rammed.”
Or, Insufferable Narcissist Seeks Out Conflict, Attempts To Dominate Random Motorist, Gets Off Lightly.
Gets Off Lightly.

Learned to do that by watching European Football.

A pox on all their houses.
Hard to know who to root for, frankly.
True enough, however, over on the left is a DC (number 4 on this year’s murder list so far) Metro sign. Sometimes it pays to pick fights wisely, I think, given how quickly the parties of the second part got riled, this clown was lucky.
She ain’t happy.
Marvel Comix, The Thing vs. Wokeman.
If you see a man you are a transphpbe (natch)
And that’s the infuriating conceit of these simulacrums. They are implicitly (and sometimes explicitly) claiming that “womanhood” consists of makeup, manicures and frilly frocks. DNA? Uterus & ovaries? Skeletal differences? Lactation? Generally differences in skills and interests?
::::Pffft:::: That’s nothing compared to the feelz gained by wearing sparkly nail polish and a fabulous Kate Spade purse.
Can you guess how much this is chafing my ass?
If you see a man you are a transphpbe
Actually, no, I’m a transgelast (Greek γελαστ, one who laughs at something).
And in lesbian fashion news.
Definitely not a lady.
Defining ‘fine’ down. Way down.
Another arrow in the quiver.
Can you guess how much this is chafing my ass?
And yet I’ve done nothing to my profile pic AND it shows while composing a post. Weird.
[ Indistinct muttering, a door slams. ]
I tease, I tease.
Why should they if no one, no one of any consequence that is, holds them to account either?
That problem used to manifest on my profile, too, but not in a while. Shrug.
“Active-duty drag queen” is apparently a thing.
“Active-duty drag queen” is apparently a thing.
“You can support your country and still be yourself” … as he POSES as a woman.
[facepalm]
So they want to reinforce the stereotypes?
This.
It was structural racism that made this guy commit this heinous crime.
A story to trigger both the media muffling/obfuscation instinct and the media amplification instinct.
Crazy homeless black guy goes into a building and defecates on the floor: if this has to be reported at all, it would be irresponsible populist rabblerousing journalism to report on it in any detail (what kind of building did he go into?) or with any emotional color (what did the people feel who had to witness it, or clean it up).
But he did his business not on the floor but on a rainbow flag, the very symbol of Our Values. Maybe because it’s a piece of cloth that’s within arms length anywhere you go in Manhattan? Regardless, it’s the very essence of responsible speaking-truth-to-power journalism to note this as a hate crime, and juxtapose it with another hate crime where a crazy homeless black guy used racial slurs against Asians.
If this isn’t some kind of wind up, someone needs a canvas camisole with wrap around sleeves.
If this isn’t some kind of wind up
I will pause again to thank God I was born when being a tomboy was just an accepted part of a girl’s growing up.
it is a mainstream liberal attitude: your children are not yours—they belong to The State. Hillary said it with her “It takes a village” slogan. Obama said it. Biden said it. And so on.
Note that karen presents her argument in the context of the baby’s “freedom”. That guy was far too patient and reasonable. He should have told her in so uncertain terms to GTLF off of his doorstep and stop bothering people. She will continue to do this sort of crap and expect people to take her and her social experiment BS seriously unless told strongly and in no uncertain terms that her blatherings will not be tolerated.
