A total of five campus police were eventually called to the scene, and the conservative students were ultimately escorted off campus flanked by the officers for their own protection… University police said they are not planning on taking any actions against the [leftist] students in the video.
The lesson, it seems, is this. When you’re insufficiently leftwing and are advertising a lecture by the economist Arthur Laffer, and offering passers-by free hot chocolate, you should expect to be harassed and physically threatened by a mob of students, who indulge in a kind of practised hysteria, and who then vandalise your property, steal your personal belongings, and scream racial and sexual profanities in your face. In a saner world, people indulging in such behaviour would within days find themselves expelled, with their belongings dumped on the roadside, and their parents sent video of the exchange, along with a letter including the words unfit for university and no refund.
Instead, however, as we’ve seen, activist faculty and administrators are willing to disregard their own official codes of behaviour, which generally forbid coercive disruption and physical intimidation. To say nothing of theft and screamed racial epithets. And so, we get the scenes above, which are hardly uncommon, and statements like this one, aired in the video around 1:57:

To paraphrase – the fact that non-leftist students still feel able to visibly exist is something that will have to change, apparently. It’s a telling statement, I think. One that suggests both an expectation of impunity and worse to come.

It is interesting just how often obnoxious women of a fairly particular type are at the forefront of such gatherings. I suppose it fits the passive-aggressive opening dynamic, the standard ruse – “Ow, my poor feelings!” Or, “Your existence is hurting me!” And people in general, even those being harassed and screamed at and having their property trashed, tend to be reluctant to get into a physical scuffle with a woman. Even a woman who’s exulting in spite and mob coercion.

It seems to me a pretty good rule of thumb that a crowd chanting slogans is usually up to no good.

These are brownshirts in training. They are willing – through Socialism – to take other peoples’ stuff. They are willing, as a mob, to wreck other people’s stuff and threaten them physically. I often wonder two things while watching these clown quarter videos:
1) What percentage of the college is really like this? We see, what, 40 people in the video? Obviously there’s a critical mass of leftard admin running that shitshow but how many students are privately disgusted by what they’re witnessing, carrying that disgust with them into the world? The answer varies greatly depending on college, I’m sure.
2) How many anti-leftists do these videos create? These viral vids don’t bolster their ranks methinks, but turn off nearly anyone sitting on the fence who happen to see them.
I have these optimistic thoughts because otherwise I can’t escape thinking that I’m looking at future corpses in the civil war.

Yes, very valid point. But perhaps these victories are increasingly Pyrrhic, yet missing it on the back end. Or just wishful thinking. Young people are much more easily swayed by these intimidation tactics. And most of the young people I know are openly disdainful of anything of the right. And by young, I mean under 40. The idea that maybe, kinda, sorta, you might want to consider wearing a collared shirt to work instead of a t-shirt is met with horrors. The idea that maybe, kinda, sorta, high-paid professional athletes should stand for the national anthem? Dude, who cares? The idea that maybe, kinda, sorta you might consider taking your hat off at the table in a proper restaurant? Now boomer, don’t you fill me up with your rules man. One might argue that none of these things really matter. But none of them are political either and they don’t require much effort. But they won’t do them because they don’t want to stick out. And while I totally understand that the first impulse of the majority is to avert eyes and hurry on, I would say the same thing if they hurried by mugging in the street and didn’t even call for the police.

True. But the more egregiously unacceptable behavior was that of the police and the administrators. The students walking by know what environment they are operating in. I’m now inclined to forgive them even more. In my point above I was only concerned that they felt intimidated by their fellow students. Peer pressure. Which is bad to cave into. But after further consideration, I feel quite certain that if a student walking by were to intervene, especially if things got physical, they would be in more trouble than the disrupting leftists. Which for the very same reason, is why the students actually being assaulted failed to defend themselves.
The failure is beyond the students. It is the police and the administrators and ultimately we schmuck taxpayers who do far worse than just walk by and ignore the situation. We fund it with the sweat of our collective brows.

This is the kafkatrap they’ve successfully laid. If you do nothing, they will continue to exercise the heckler’s veto. If you push back even in the slightest they will cry victim, denounce your violence and use it as a propaganda moment. But do Normies even know they’re sending their kids/money to the Clown Quarter? To your point their media intake is controlled by the same forces, and everyone just knows you have to go to college. At least incidents like this show where some of the problems are, but you have to care enough to research these things, much less pony up the cash to go to a functioning school. It’s particularly a problem for parents near Clown Quarter state schools, which are generally far cheaper for in-state residents.
And never forget that a sizeable – and rich – segment of the West is basically on the side of the crazies, even if not radical themselves. Sort of the “yeah, people should eat bugs to save the planet, just not me” types.
I guess we’ll have to wait for AI to destroy the sort of over-credentialed office work that most of these marginal students are heading for to see any seismic shifts.

Mao had children informing on their own parents. How much do you think a random nobody cares about some other random nobody (especially of a different race)? The culture is quickly moving from tolerance of a random advocacy group to harassing their table to physically removing the table. Next is physically removing the people (see antifa in Portland, etc), then virtually seeking out the people (deplatforming & disemployment), and finally physically seeking out the people.
In all cases the people under attack are at the mercy of the new societal norms. So far society has decided that packing up other people’s tables is acceptable. Several cities permitted physical confrontations at Trump rallies. Charlottesville appeared to encourage attacks against a bunch of idiots at a permitted demonstration.
Politicians bow to the woke because the woke are the only ones enforcing any consequences on those who disagree. If your own representatives refuse to uphold your view of “unacceptable” and treat your intolerance as the problem then you are officially outside of normal society!

In closing, know that those of you who are feeling fearful are not alone. This is a trying time in our nation’s history with consequences that will undoubtedly impact our campus. But we will do everything in our power to assure that you are a safe and valued member of our community.
I suppose it fits the passive-aggressive opening dynamic, the standard ruse – “Ow, my poor feelings!” Or, “Your existence is hurting me!”
A common pattern is for these folks to provoke (often with lots of abusive shouting) and then act the victim if they manage to get a reaction, or at least shine the spotlight on the person reacting, whilst the initial provocation gets mysteriously forgotten about.
It helps if they have allies (friends or sympathetic media types) willing to spread their version of events
A variation in the UK is where LibDem/extreme-Remainer types fulminate self-righteously about all the supposed “hatred” in their opponents, then list the various tortures they’dike to inflict on Conservatives. If you point this out to them on Twitter they’ll say something like “we never said we were the nice guys” – and it’s like case closed for them. No need to examine the idea any further..
