If You Notice Our Dishonesty, We Will Punish You
I paraphrase, of course. Though not, I think, wildly:
Sorry, still pondering the Swissness of wind instrument repairman.
Well, he’s not wrong. We could, I suppose, list things like pelvis shape, skull shape, bone density, Q-angles and whatnot, and we could mention the very high accuracy of sex determination via forensic examinations based on such variables, but it all seems rather obvious. Almost too silly.
But wait.
Because in the realm of the trans activist, and others who like to pretend things, in this case, two journalists and a teacher, the accumulation of ludicrousness must not be impeded.
And so,
A transcript of the interrogation, in German, can be found here.
It turns out that noticing the obvious – that sexual dysmorphia is a mental health issue, that the skeletons of men and women are quite distinct, and that some members of the so-called “LGBTQI community” are quite extreme in their ambitions, as illustrated by the case itself – has now been deemed taboo, and indeed punishable:
Don’t talk back, citizen. Cross-dressing men are women.
With magic woman bones.
Readers will note the bizarre and emphatic conflation, by Judge Julia Schär, of sexual orientation and sexual dysmorphia – her equating of homosexuality with intolerant transvestism – via which she condemned Mr Brünisholz for an alleged intent to “disparage people on the basis of their sexual orientation in a way that violates human dignity.”
Whether the farce described above does much for human dignity is a question I leave to the reader.
Well, quite.
A reminder, were one needed, that when you surrender to the lie, all manner of distortions will ensue. Best, I think, not to give away the store in the first place.
Oh, and because I know you like a punchline:
Modernity, baby. Bathe in its glow.
Update, via the comments:
Readers with a taste for inadvertent surrealism and colourful epithets – and claims that skeletal analysis is unreliable and irrelevant because “our species isn’t very sexually dimorphic” – may find amusement of a sort over in this related Reddit thread.
There, some commenters, presumably ‘allies’ or themselves trans-identified, denounce the post above and what they consider to be “obsessing over transgenderism,” which seems to mean expressing any reservation or insufficiently flattering thought, “because it literally doesn’t impact your life.”
As if, for instance, women could have no reason to express reservations, and all while commenting on a news item with rather ominous implications, and in which someone’s life was obviously impacted.
As sH2 quips in reply,
Well, indeed. There is, after all, the small matter of probity.
And the implication of such statements, commonplace among trans activists, is that despite the current ubiquity in the media of trans-related issues, and despite efforts to change laws and social norms in ways that create any number of serious problems, and despite the alarming comorbidities of sexual dysmorphia, and despite the eye-widening prevalence of sex offending among the trans-identified… despite all of that, the rest of us should say nothing.
Instead, we’re expected to quietly acquiesce.
Big ask.
This blog is kept afloat by the tip jar buttons below.
I’m inclined to suggest that the problem is not so much the stated problem, as the attitude that seems likely to have brought it, and others, into being.
Comments are closed, so I’ll just reiterate here that the two bullshit-spewing comics reviewers are New Yorkers and one of them (Shayo) even has a Bachelor’s of Psychology (Gosh! Should we be impressed?) from Macaulay Honors College (City University of New York).
New Yorkers like to think they are the intellectual shining lights of the universe, and yet very often they are quite the opposite, ignorant and shallow and parochial and dogmatic–not to mention, all too often, whores.
More of a red flag than a gold star.
Mr Shayo’s errors and wildly contradictory assertions, uttered mere days apart, do, I think, add weight to the idea that politics is to a large extent downstream of personality.
Again, high in neuroticism, low in conscientiousness. Hence the desperate contrivance, the need to be political fashionable, even at the cost of absurdity, and the seeming disregard for even the most glaring contradictions.
Agreed.
He may also be angry at the world for not gifting his Enormous Brain with the high-paying statusful career that he thinks he deserves.
From the first page of comments:
Are these Facebook groups? Reddit? Something else?
I think there is a lot of this. I have heard an academic state, with no irony, that his academic output is just as valuable as a high paid private sector job, so he deserved to just skip work whenever he wanted if they were not going to pay him enough. Many academics have this resentment about pay, or recognition. They often think that the world should listen to them due to their mighty intellects and resent their obscurity. Likewise, those with “studies” degrees or working in journalism think that people should listen to them. Angry angry angry, and for no actual reason.

It’s how we got Marxism. It’s why we keep Marxism.
Want.
Yes, mostly. I’ve noticed it in other places like Reddit or X but I rarely engage on Reddit and don’t follow those sorts of things much on X.
I tried out some Facebook groups 5-6 years ago, but quickly left as they had far too many toxic members. The only ones I am now willing to have anything to do with are non-political and are strictly policed for inappropriate posts and comments.
I have never engaged on Reddit, as following links years ago showed me that it would be a waste of time.
There are some X channels which I follow, but they are individuals’ rather than groups.
Sort of, “I have all these credentials, an expensive education, AND I LIVE IN BROOKLYN, yet I’m stuck writing about this and getting paid fuck all.”
Thing is, he does it so badly. So ineptly, with so many errors. Really basic stuff, like he hasn’t understood the premise. And all in a banal, artless voice. His writing’s only signature is a contrived generic sourness, a political disdain expected of the type. I mean, it should be possible to write about Calvin and Hobbes with insight and affection. There’s plenty of material, should you know where to look.
But Mr Shayo fails even at this. While thinking himself clever.

Could it be the origin of the Islamic blessing “piss be upon him”?
That’s not the only nutjob medical advice to be found in the Koran.
See also, a certain popular song of the 1940s. Regarding which, we get the same cack-handed political criticism pretty much every Christmas. Again, from people who think themselves terribly clever.
My original approach. I avoided politics. That was for Twitter. But if someone else brought it up I was not going to be silent. Before 2020 I had made only two overtly political posts. One in regards to Obama bowing down to the Emperor of Japan and forget the other. I would post benign-ish quotes from Thomas Sowell on occasion or general social sanity type stuff. Usually humor stuff. Occasionally. But after 2020, seeing so many “normal” people cave in to real fascism and real censorship…well, lost quite a few friends. I have maybe six left. Maybe another six who don’t say much.
Something only a bigot who eschews proven traditional healings and indigenous ways of knowings for colonial whitemanmedicine™ would say.
Interrogation?
Under Swiss law, one has the right to remain silent. What is Brünisholz doing talking to the police? There’s nothing to gain and much to lose by doing that.
Reddit-lanche.
Written for a housewarming party.
“[Trump] wants to put the National Guard, the army that trains part time on the weekends, against the Latin Kings?”
The on-message thing to say that crime (other than white-on-black of course) should be treated as a boring statistic, that there’s nothing happening here that should invoke a collective response by white people, that the teens are depraved on account of they’re deprived.
But her telling of the joke and the audience response make Trump’s point for him: ethnic gangs are ethnic armies, they occupy territory and supplant the former authorities on behalf of their people, they get broad moral support from their own people and from other groups who are emboldened in their own territory-occupying ambitions by the inability of the historic population to effectively wield authority.
[ Glances at Reddit thread, loses will to live. ]
I almost laughed at the (presumably progressive) commenter who seems to think that Mr Brünisholz deserves his fate, and who accuses other commenters of not having read the post, a claim fortified with lots of vehement and colourful epithets, while themselves showing every sign of not having read the post.
Specifically, this paragraph:
A detail that strikes me as not unimportant. What with the sleight-of-hand.
During the BLM riots in Chicago, when rioters got near an hispanic neighborhood, the hispanic gangs blocked the streets to keep them out. Probably the only good thing they ever did.
Cold outside: indeed, hookup culture does not recognize foreplay/seduction/reluctance. Even guys can be reluctant to just jump in bed, and may need assurance that the girl likes them and is not cra-cra. Hookup culture is not conducive to good long-term relationships.
They even drove out people who were already in the neighborhood. Could be innocently shopping, but they were outsiders and therefore needed to be driven out by threats and even violence.
And that illustrates why I have never felt the slightest desire to join a Reddit group. Far too many liars, fanatics, and psychopaths.
I sometimes forget how civilised, in comparison, this place generally is.

TBF, he is not wrong, major leaguers don’t play in single A.
Single A? Not even that.
“out of their league”: to reiterate: straight men do not want a man dressed as a woman especially if there is still a penis; women do not want a man dressed as a woman; lesbians to not want a man dressed as a woman especially if there is still a penis. Gay men do not want a man dressed as a woman. If they have had surgery it is even worse. The pheromones are all wrong for all of the groups mentioned. No perfume will hide that they smell wrong even with HRT. Not only are they limiting their romance pool to almost nothing, but it is hard to even fathom what sex acts they think they want. Straight sex with their imaginary (or artificial) vagina?
Via Elon Musk: no lie detected.
But I denounce myself for not denouncing his use of “retarded”.
16-time convicted randomly attacks 69 year old man senior citizen with the claw end of a hammer, less than 4 months after his latest prison release.
16 convictions, for total sentencing of 178 years, and yet he was on the street instead of expecting to die in prison. This is what’s wrong with criminal justice. Not enough executions, not enough life sentences without possibility of parole.
Islamophobia: 12 year old Scottish girl charged for brandishing knife and axe.
Nothing to see: Eastern European Muslim man and woman later charged. Identities and charges remain secret.
This reaction seems reasonable.
Have the UK police become enemies of the people?
Urinated on a child. Got an ass-whooping and then got arrested.
The entire apparatus of state, not just the constabulary.
Rather morbidly, I’ve been reading the comments by trans or trans-ally commenters, who are numerous on Reddit, insisting that skeletal analysis is unreliable because “our species isn’t very sexually dimorphic.”
The level of made-up stuff, asserted as fact, is quite extraordinary.
And it’s interesting how the trans commenters seem much more prone to hostility, epithets and hair-trigger name-calling. All while complaining, “He [Mr Brünisholz] literally called trans people mentally ill.” As if that were in doubt – and not being hinted at quite strongly by some of the very same comments.
Other commenters, presumably ‘allies’, denounce what they consider “obsessing over transgenderism,” which seems to mean expressing any reservation or unflattering thought, “because it literally doesn’t impact your life.” As if, for instance, women could have no reason to express reservations, and all while commenting on a news item with ominous implications, and in which someone’s life was obviously impacted.
Reality matters.
Well, quite. There is, after all, the small matter of probity.
And the implication of such statements, commonplace among activists, is that despite the current ubiquity in the media of trans-related issues, and despite efforts to change laws and social norms in ways that create any number of serious problems, and despite the alarming comorbidities of sexual dysmorphia, and despite the sly bundling by activists of sexual dysmorphia with opportunistic fetishism and sexual predation, and despite the eye-widening prevalence of sex offending… despite all of that, the rest of us should say nothing.
“Because it literally doesn’t impact your life.”
Instead, we’re expected to quietly acquiesce.
Big ask.
[ Post updated. ]
“Aggressively dominant male mammals typically urinate to scent-mark their territory.”
But it’s not a mental health problem, right?
They’re the ones who endlessly demand concessions and public affirmation, and yet those who object are the ones who are “obsessed”.
Yet over at Reddit, in the linked thread and others, there are plenty of trans or ‘ally’ commenters who think that even acknowledging the obvious mental health issue, even in neutral terms, is “hate,” “transphobia” and “invalidating.” Something to be suppressed and punished. Say, with fines and imprisonment.
Commenters who insist, “What’s not okay is invalidating our identities” – which strikes me as a rather self-refuting comment.
I mean, if your identity, your sense of self, can be invalidated by statements of fact or by the observation of everyday reality, or by some random stranger being insufficiently validating, on demand, resulting in wild mood-swings and fits of rage and tears, then that identity doesn’t seem very stable. Not at all load-bearing.
A phenomenon pretty much defined by unreliable perceptions and obsessive thoughts, and which has been pushed into the faces and lives of people who don’t much care for it, and who may have much to lose by its affirmation. But pointing out obvious practical and moral problems – or just saying no, thank you – constitutes “obsessing over transgenderism.”
Again, that live-and-let-live thing, mentioned upthread, seems ever more precarious and implausible.
The push to discount and ignore reality is widespread.
