She’s Seething With Empowerment.
A Guardian contributor encounters a small act of courtesy, screaming ensues.
Ms Huckeba continues, “No, you cannot open this door for me! You wouldn’t have opened it two years ago, so you damn sure can’t open it now!” “I scowled and stormed away,” says she, “completely enraged.” You see, he’s not allowed to do that – holding open the door for her – or for any woman, presumably. Because although Ms Huckeba didn’t know this polite gentleman and had never seen him before, she’s nevertheless sure of what his views on holding doors open for people must have been two years previously, back when she was fat. It’s intersectional science. And this being the Guardian, what matters is that Ms Huckeba can invoke victimhood to rationalise having behaved like a complete and utter cow.

The pretentiously agonised, part 436.
When not struggling with oppressive punctuation, Ms Martinez spends her time fretting about the fact that she and her peers are “not taken seriously” as the radical titans they so obviously are. According to fellow umbrage-taker Jacquelyn Aguilera, who also emailed the entire campus, “winged eyeliner, lined lips, and big hoop earrings” are “an everyday act of resistance” by the brown and virtuous.
You Mustn’t Stop The Hysteria.
A Professor of Education denounces consequences for… well, pretty much anything.
It turns out that if you dare to punish students who use coercive mob tactics to threaten and intimidate non-leftist speakers and those who wish to hear them, then you are creating “an unsafe and threatening environment” for students who want to use threatening and coercive physical tactics. And also, you’re racist, which rather goes without saying. Apparently, any hint of consequences for thuggish and censorious behaviour merely affirms “white supremacy” and will “suppress and criminalise” students whose own attempts to suppress veer towards the criminal. This, we’re told, is “unfair.”
There’s more, should you crave it.

Well, as I said, it is a little strange. As so often, if you try to parse the ostensible grievance on its own ostensible terms, you soon start tripping over begged questions, non-reciprocal assumptions, and general incoherence. But if you approach it as an unwitting display of psychology, it starts to become comprehensible. If not particularly endearing.

Ms Martinez and Ms Aguilera emailed the entire campus, repeatedly and quite vehemently, with their views on hooped earrings and who should be allowed to wear them. As sane people do.
Kids raised badly.
when one of my nieces was the same age as these ladies, she was raising money for charity by trekking across the Sahara Desert. I doubt that hooped earrings and lip-liner, and who may or may not wear them, were foremost in her mind.
Kids raised well.
Kids raised well.
I suspect the niece in question would be baffled by the manufactured dramas of these self-involved mediocrities. There would, I think, be eye-rolling.
Said niece now has her own family. On Sunday evening her young son was showing me his drawings of his favourite aircraft. He was terribly enthused when I happened to know something about one of them. Cool Uncle status was definitely unlocked.
“winged eyeliner, lined lips, and big hoop earrings”
Not that it matters overmuch but what exactly are lined lips?
Not that it matters overmuch but what exactly are lined lips?
Step 1: Apply garish lipstick.
Step 2: Apply thick dark outline around lips.
Result: Grotesque clown-like face.
Not that it matters overmuch but what exactly are lined lips?
Winged eyeliner is appropriation of Pharonic culture, lined lips appropriation of chola culture.
A slight break from the usual insanity…
The enthusiasm is almost too much to bear.

That’s some effete flapping.

Children are, happily, easily impressed. So, when an 8-year-old starts waving his drawings at you, and you happen to know something – anything – about 1960s stealth aircraft – or indeed about giant alien robots that can turn into 1960s stealth aircraft – you’re halfway home.
What has been lost with suburban life is any hint of physical or mental toughness. I have daughters and I always pushed them to toughen up a little, to not fall into the black hole of girly weakness. They can pick up frogs and lizards and snakes and squish bugs no problem. As a guy, can you take a nap on the floor? If you trip and fall do you roll and get up unhurt or do you need medical care? Can you tough out the heat or cold? If you lose your job do you start a business or fall into depression? The lack of toughness shows with all the people who are “erased” if anyone disagrees with them and freak out if they hear about an idea they don’t like. OR it is just a tactic of bullying. Or both. Hard to tell there is so much dishonesty.

Ignore, if you can, for a moment that in the women’s section “briefs” aren’t, and that “amorphous” and “shapewear” are antipodal, it almost seems that there is an agenda here.
Meanwhile, only a transphobe would call this a fetish.

So much of “progressive” politics can be legitimately interpreted as “black people cannot be expected to obey the law and refrain from antisocial behavior”. Not to mention “succeed in school” and “carry out the routine tasks necessary to live in a modern society”. Why, they are even claimed to be unable to obtain voter ID cards.
voter ID cards: last election some wag interviewed black people on the street and said the dems doubt their ability to get ID or know where to vote. they were really offended, as they should be. Voting is literally in every school/library–don’t know where your local school is? Only the Woke could be this racist.

Ami Horowitz?
Related.
And by the same.
Yes, Ami Horowitz. One of the funniest vids of all time. Their kids go to school, which is where most voting takes place–how could anyone not know that?

Except for the “smearing himself” part, it sounds almost like customary behavior in some of the more “diverse” parts of the world.
Linguists slam Cambridge University for teaching ‘woke’ German: “Fury as students are taught ‘gender-neutral’ version of the language that avoids using masculine forms that are not ‘inclusive’ to non-binary people…non-native speakers attempting to chatter with Germans using the woke version of the ancient language ‘stand a good chance of making a fool of themselves.’ ”
Cambridge University, the very flower of English intellectual achievement.
Remember this existential crisis?
Everything is about white supremacy. Except when it’s about TERFs.
Remember this existential crisis?
Yes, yes, and yes.
The theme, according to the ABC report, is that whites are to be a minority (and not a sainted heroic minority either, but a minority that will be so much the easier to demean) by 2044 or so, which everyone agrees is a good thing (but the Great Replacement is a conspiracy theory); that the whites are hoarding the magic that makes white countries nice to live in and to immigrate to; that we need to extract this magic from the whites so we can continue to have the quality of life of white nations without having whites around; and that the whites are being maliciously uncooperative in getting with this program. In this case we’re pretty sure that national parks are part of the magic that makes white nations nice to live in, but the whites have put a curse on the parks so that non-whites are more likely to feel bored and mosquito-bitten than Uplifted.
The ABC report goes on to interview Lexi Halvorsen, a Minnesotan who moved to the Indian countryside and likes to go hiking among the mango groves and the Hindu temples, or is it the Hindu groves and the mango temples? Lexi: “These people make me feel like an outsider. I’m usually the only person here who’s tall, blond, and blue-eyed. A mango priest looked at me funny, as if I was going to steal one of the Hindus”. Lexi is wearing a t-shirt that says “immigrant”, the meaning of which is that immigration must be a good thing if it has brought Lexi to your country. Or maybe it was a (dot) Indian who moved to Minnesota, was offended not to be able to meet other (dot) Indians hiking and canoeing and so on, and was given a national news platform to explain how this was the fault of whites.
Yes it is the fault of whites that POC choose not to visit the outdoors, which is mostly free. That white magic is powerful.

There seems to be an overabundance of shameless two-bit grifters whining about – or rather, boasting about – how they “don’t identify with” white people, and are therefore, somehow, being inhibited from walking in the countryside or a national park. These pretensions have long been a staple of ‘progressive’ commentary and some minor variation is churned out every few weeks or so. It seems that churlishness and ingratitude, and tedious self-absorption, are now to be regarded as virtues. A basis for applause.
Other demographic niches now have their own “oppressed by countryside” schtick. Though apparently there’s no obligation to be remotely coherent or convincing. And so, despite the contrivance and the convoluted whining, those interviewed, and merrily deferred to, don’t seem able to provide a credible illustration of what the supposed problem actually is, or what a supposed cure might be, beyond more attention and influence, and more taxpayer funding, for people much like themselves.
or what a supposed cure might be

Well, I would tell them to take a hike, but . . .
As I said in one of the posts linked above,
And yet, in the genre of “oppressed by the awful whiteness of the countryside” articles, I’ve yet to see any meaningful pushback, any testing of assumptions, any polite demurral within the piece. The articles seem to exist merely to affirm whatever flimsy contrivance is uttered. As if the journalists in question, and their editors, were wholly on-side. And as if we, the readers, shouldn’t notice this.
