Hush Now, Brown Person, I’ll Do The Talking.
Woke academic bemoans racism, while casually erasing agency from anyone brownish who happens to disagree with her.
For Ms Beltrán, then, those who tire of racial tribalism and identitarian drama, and who prefer to be engaged with as individuals, are merely surrendering to “whiteness” and “white supremacy,” and are therefore the enemy, traitorous, or at best, dupes. And for Ms Beltrán, the extremist is not the person who fixates on race as the overriding characteristic and sole basis for “recognition” – as the ideological mass around which all else must revolve – but the person who doesn’t.

A mandatory course for dentists is announced. Confessions of pallor are expected.
If you plan to be a dentist and attend the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, it seems you must first submit to condescension and insults, and accusations of being either a bigot or an enabler of bigotry, based solely on unchangeable aspects of your appearance. Because apparently you can’t do dentistry without the weird political woo of dogmatic parasites who’ve managed to insert themselves into yet another sphere of life.
Haughty bitches claim to be oppressed, while disdaining the little people who serve them drinks.
While invoking Alex Haley’s slavery novel Roots as a guide to their own suffering, the ladies insist that, if you aren’t instantly sure how to pronounce Ms Ali’s Somalian first name, or Ms Roy’s Indian first name, then you’re a “vehicle of racism” and are “damaging” their “self-worth and sense of confidence,” and should, one assumes, prostrate yourself at the nearest Temple of Woke Sorrows. Given this kabuki of the implausibly downtrodden, it occurs to me that the charming lady who runs the local Chinese takeaway, and for whom English is at best a second language, has struggled to pronounce my surname for close to two decades. Presumably, I should storm in there one evening and publicly berate her for oppressing me and invalidating my personhood. Delicate flower that I am.

I wonder if anybody has ever called to her attention all the very, very white immigrants who found that Americans had difficulty pronouncing (and spelling) their names–people from Poland and Czechoslovakia, sure, but in fact from any non-English-speaking locale. Or, for that matter, the worldwide mispronunciations of Americans’ names. Much of grievance politics involves a self-centered blindness to the situations of other people.
Love that expression.
Well, it is all rather stylised and exaggerated. And you know pretty much what you’re going to get before it even starts.

Spent wayyy too much time in the late 70s and 80s reading the automotive based works of one Chubba Cheda. Or Csaba Csere…
Pantone: one of the truly offensive things about historical racism was the color chart aka % racial makeup. It determined what you were allowed to do. In South America it determined if you could hold royal or gov titles. We were getting past that but now these wokies want to bring it back.
Names. There are truly funny vids of Germans trying to say “squirrel”. There are sounds in many languages that do not exist in other languages. You may not even be able to hear them. Americans have a great deal of trouble with tonal languages like chinese. In the US we encounter people from every corner of the globe and we are supposed to know how to say all their names? Please. In fact, we do lots better than we used to. I think most Indian names are now easy to most people, due to practice. But of course, this is like bitcoin mining–searching for reasons to be offended.

James Nix was simply hanging around his house with his 80-year-old daddy, when a rooster comes up and attacks the duo. Now he’s facing a felony for animal cruelty.
In addition to being completely absurd and a sign of a government our of control, the real victim’s explanation is hilarious. And typical Jacksonville. He’s like an amalgamation of a couple of guys I knew back in the day.

If it were bukkake of the implausibly downtrodden they would at least have a real grievance…
Too much ?
BTW, when Jax man in that video mentions chickens dying at churches, he’s saying Church’s. It’s another fried chicken chain here in the US. Though the idea of him possibly referencing a church dinner or picnic is itself amusing.

Also amusing: that he might be referring to voodoo “churches”.
I put “churches” in scare quotes both because I am not sure what word practitioners of voodoo use, and because I don’t want to show too much respect for a religion which involves animal sacrifice and the casting spells on people for malevolent and manipulative purposes.
Raising Canes > Church’s for chicken.

I had to read it a few times, and take a look at the author’s bio, but I’m pretty sure that’s an attempt at Swiftian satire by an anti-capitalist. He seems to be suggesting that capitalism is a system of slavery by virtue of the fact that no one would produce if they weren’t hungry.

That would make sense, and yet that exact logic is held by the ‘elites’, even if not typically expressed out loud. This guy could merely be pro-serf equivalent to that professor who had no problem expressing pro-pedophillic arguments out loud.
What’s more his “Who will plow the fields?” question explains so much of the lockdown mindset. A man who cannot comprehend how someone who isn’t hungry at this particular moment might want to tend a farm is a man who thinks you can just shut down the economy for a while without significant problems.
It could be satire, and yet, like the ramblings of Titania McGrath, could accurately represent the actual (or publically professed) opinions of people in positions of power.
Jessica thinks this makes her look good.
capitalism is a system of slavery…actually it is reality that is a system of slavery. You don’t work, you die. That simple.
Consider a farmer living alone. He raises food for himself. No work, no eat, die. There is no capitalism involved. Now consider that he does such a good job of farming that he has a surplus. Without capitalism (ie, trade with others) that food rots. With capitalism, he can trade that food for some stuff he needs (with or without the involvement of money as a medium of exchange). The ranting about capitalism is so insane. Do they think people under communism don’t work? Of course, profs can go an entire career without producing anything useful, so why not everyone? heh

Succinct.

There is more to this statement than there first appears. Capitalism, in the sense of a reliable system of transferable property rights and a market system, is, as something fully accessible to the masses, a quite recent development. Most people since the Neolithic Revolution have been subsistence farmers who were not incentivized to produce much surplus. Partly this was because a large surplus wasn’t easily storable, but more because it, along with any money they might get from selling it (even assuming that there is a market, that the market is accessible to them, etc.) could be taken via force by bandits of either the stationary or mobile variety.
Thus, for most of history, most people aimed to produce what they needed, a little surplus for wiggle-room, and focused on developing social bonds within the village or clan, as these provided much more safety than the accumulation of a little bit of material wealth or capital.
Breaking out of that low-productivity state was due partly to technological development, it’s true, but much moreso to the development of a cultural and legal framework that a made a surplus into a boon instead of a burden.
But those institutions give some people the bad-feels, so “away with it!” they cry.

It is an evergreen cult practice to demonize and shun all who do not join the cult.
Love that expression.
Very much related.
Jessica: if you are white (even you Jessica) you can never prove you are not racist. Just by existing you are racist. It is systemic. It will never go away even if minorities do well.
It is an evergreen cult practice to demonize and shun all who do not join the cult.
Extra points for shitting all over your own family on Twitter, too. That seems to be the fail-proof way for these white virtue queens to establish their righteous bona fides.
It’s as if they all follow the same script.
What, no discussion of Boris stepping down? Was it that obvious? Which way forward? Genuinely curious to hear from the Albion based contributors of this blog.

One incident that proved this for me (first gen Indian immigrant – original, not come to our casino version as Princess Panchali put it)
There was a football club online forum where all our white liberal members gathered together to bemoan the racist in English football.
I quietly, as politely as I could manage, pointed out that I have been to dozens of games, different stadium, often at late games, without once seeing the slightest bit of racism. I do believe the British empire was awful, but fair is fair, Brits today are as tolerant as you can get.
Of course, when I checked a while later my comment was gone. The rest of them continued about how white supremacist footy supporters were so awful.
This is in a country where the only people driven out and made refugees because of their race in recent history, are the Indians who fled Uganda and were made welcome by the racist whiteys in Britain. Lots of Millwall supporting skinheads in Uganda, apparently.
Without capitalism (ie, trade with others)
I’d be happy to be corrected here, but isn’t capitalism a way of organising, um, capital, for the purpose of investing in an undertaking. I think the phrase ‘free market’ needs to be used much more often and more widely.
We get irritated when progs substitute one word for another meaning something else. Can we avoid that?
Capitalism is the principle that one can accumulate surplus wealth and use it as one sees fit.
The Free Market is a system where uncoerced exchanges occur.
