The Violation Of Others
And in expensive and statusful education news:
It’s protest, you hear. Albeit of a gratuitous and self-serving kind.
Because in order to titillate pinhead students and their pinhead lecturers, you need to frame selfishness and moral squalor as sexy and upscale, and ever-so daring. It’s “radical ethics,” you see.
Unlike modish Manhattan universities that applaud themselves as “a place for fearless progress,” and whose lecturers glamourise shoplifting and the self-satisfied violation of other, better people.
The seminar, since you ask, is the work of Cresa Pugh, a woman who lives in Brooklyn, obviously, and who boasts of “decolonising” and “interrogating” many things, while arriving at entirely predictable conclusions.
You see, being a grubby, antisocial prick and stealing from a library or grocery store is giving it to the man, man.
At which point, readers are invited to imagine Ms Pugh being robbed in broad daylight – a bag-snatching or phone-snatching or possibly a mugging – and her subsequent search for some aesthetic in the experience.
And because sometimes the punchlines just write themselves:
Previously – on needless, habitual mooching as a radical lifestyle thang.
Consider this an open thread. Share ye links and bicker.
Who’s the thief again?
This came to mind:
Or do our betters only disdain other people’s property?
Laurie Penny totally harshed her vibe.
From the replies,
Heh.
If you like flash mobs and Queen.
I Am NEVER Leaving This App,
The New School for Social Research was founded over 100 years ago as a consciously leftist leftist institution.
Leftists: You think you hate them enough but you don’t.
How to deal with “migrants”.
A leftist has a thought.

Today’s word is supervision.
White supremacy is a terrible thing. /sarcasm
And yes, the regime news organs largely ignored this barbaric crime and suppressed the details showing just how savage it was.
How transgressive.
Though, I wonder what they might have to say regarding vigilante violence, if someone else (me, say) objects to their stealing library books or whiskey? Would those “aesthetics” be acceptable?
Of course. At the same time there’s the reality that a kid’s ability to climb out of a crib and manipulate locks in the wee hours of the morning while mom and dad are asleep always manifests itself before parents know the child can.
Child-raising is an adventure. Heh.
WTF does that even mean? How do grocery stores “hoard capital”? Or a museum? And “contested value”? Contested by whom?
ARGH.
Can any organisation taking large sums of money from leftists be all bad?
If he doesn’t like deportation, suggest defenestration or decollation.
Who knew that more criminals on the street = more crime?
I was roughly the same age when I ventured into what was laughingly referred to as the ‘dining room’, which was largely unused except for storage, and discovered an old writing bureau, which wee seedling me found fascinating. Oh, and an aerosol can of silver paint.
After several minutes of suspicious silence, my parents came to see what I was doing.
There was some commotion, as I recall.
From Darleen:
Of course, the question almost answers itself. “Contested” has its meaning within a campus Marxist context, of course. It means “desired by any Leftist who wishes to steal”.
Wouldn’t that be accesory before the fact?
I can see the lawyers salivating to sue them after the first arrest.
Only if the professor specifically teaches them how to steal.
The course description only talks about inventing excuses for stealing.
Yet another rapper.
Why not do that with hip hop “artists”? 😁
Clearly he is a member of the 3% who should be permanently removed from society.
Oh yeah, that! When the usual din goes silent, mischievousness is afoot.
There was this one time when #1 (2 y/o) who got into the refrigerator — woke up to her sitting in the living room happily eating (and covered with) bologna and whipped cream.
#2, at 4, somehow found a permanent marker (navy) and proceeded to scribble lines along 3 walls of her bedroom like some bizarre chair-rail border.
… and the list goes on …
I sometimes think the first step when starting a family should be to put everything of value into storage.
However, I maintain I was adorable with it.
Artist’s impression, for reference.
“We’ve been hit!”
Missed by thaaaat >< much. But no. That would just make a martyr out of her. And the way the Catholics have been canonizing lately…well…
Breaking: It was not a drone rather but a flare fired by someone on the boat, which landed back in the boat and started a fire.
In my case, I infiltrated the pantry in the early morning hours. With a little help from a step ladder, I discovered the food colouring kit mom used for cake decorating and dyed myself a deep shade of purple.
Mom may or may not have used an SOS pad during the cleaning process.
Apparently so is raising cats. My neighbour’s house has been beset upon by emergency restoration vans and men in hazmat like coveralls. My wife and I thought bodies may have been discovered in the basement (hmmm, he did supposedly separate from his girlfriend). Finally, after months of heavy traffic from clean-up crews and building trades, we got the chance to ask him what was going on.
Well, he has two cats and a small dog. The cats, during the wee hours of the morning decided to play on the kitchen counter. While doing so they inadvertently (maybe intentionally, you never know with cats) turned on the kitchen tap. My neighbour was unaware that his plumbing wasn’t plumbing properly and couldn’t handle high flows of water without backing up the drains. So the water ran all through the night, overflowing the sink, seeping into the basement and flooding it to a depth of a couple of inches. So everything had to be torn out, cleaned up and replaced.
And yes, he still has the cats.
Oh dear … young children and plumbing do not play well together
The Breakfast Club goes to Gaza.
Cash bail: yes it is “unfair” that poor people were sitting in jail before trial….but, the bail system had a reason. Not only did the bail ensure that you would turn up for trial, but if you went to a bail bondsman, they would “ensure” that you turned up after you failed to turn up. Now, they let real bad guys out after arrest who simply vanish. IL is one such state. So cash bail was the worst system except for all the other options.
An early adventure involved knocking over the fire extinguisher, discharging it onto one of the cats, which took off at speed up and over an acquaintance of my parents who had the misfortune to be in the kitchen where this all went down.
Note that none of the bystanders who witnessed the attack came to her aid.
She died, slowly, alone.
Black propensity for violence is not the only reason to avoid black areas.
Black reluctance to help non-blacks is equally important.
Requiescat in pace.
