The Violation Of Others
And in expensive and statusful education news:
It’s protest, you hear. Albeit of a gratuitous and self-serving kind.
Because in order to titillate pinhead students and their pinhead lecturers, you need to frame selfishness and moral squalor as sexy and upscale, and ever-so daring. It’s “radical ethics,” you see.
Unlike modish Manhattan universities that applaud themselves as “a place for fearless progress,” and whose lecturers glamourise shoplifting and the self-satisfied violation of other, better people.
The seminar, since you ask, is the work of Cresa Pugh, a woman who lives in Brooklyn, obviously, and who boasts of “decolonising” and “interrogating” many things, while arriving at entirely predictable conclusions.
You see, being a grubby, antisocial prick and stealing from a library or grocery store is giving it to the man, man.
At which point, readers are invited to imagine Ms Pugh being robbed in broad daylight – a bag-snatching or phone-snatching or possibly a mugging – and her subsequent search for some aesthetic in the experience.
And because sometimes the punchlines just write themselves:
Previously – on needless, habitual mooching as a radical lifestyle thang.
Consider this an open thread. Share ye links and bicker.
Atlas Shrugged, you say? Yes, she did finally read it. After I mailed it to her sister to give to her as a Thanksgiving/early Christmas present. Ironically, her sister is currently struggling with TDS. Thanksgiving, assuming that we even go this year, might be interesting. And not in a good way.
The good people strike again. Because kill the fascists and shit. Halos all around.
Looks very, very bad. Very possibly fatal.
I would be telling my TDS-spewing liberal acquaintances to FOAD, if I had not already done so a few years ago. But it’s not fascism when liberals do it.(TM)
Repeated assassination attempts on conservatives.
Decades–no, generations–of indoctrinating blacks to hate whites.
Ditto to hate the rich and the middle class.
Ditto to hate business owners.
Really, there is no good reason to not hate leftists.
You can’t hate the media enough.
MSNBC just speculated the Charlie Kirk shooting could have “been a supporter shooting their gun off in celebration.”
I speculate that liberal news people could be Dark Tetrad monsters.
And yes, that’s a “back at you” snark. But I’m also serious about that idea.
Something that strikes me is the blatant lying by the media. Lying about things that anyone can check. Saying “mostly peaceful protests” while standing in front of burning buildings. Taking Baghdad Bob as your role model. Claiming that Trump raised taxes. Claiming that Trump gave a break to billionaires (who I am sure are happy about no taxes on their tips). Claiming there is no crime problem when stores in Chicago on Michigan ave have nothing in their store windows and CVS has all the goods locked up. Saying that trans in bathrooms is just about courtesy and that trans are not taking all the medals in sports. It is just lies lies lies. They are spending their patrimony and don’t care.
Would it be “fiery but mostly peaceful protests” if it were conservatives furious over liberal lies and black propaganda leading to murders of innocents? Of course not.
“[…] I came to the conclusion that the purpose of communist propaganda was not to persuade or convince, not to inform, but to humiliate; and therefore, the less it corresponded to reality the better.” — Theodore Dalrymple
Oh, JFC.
I will never understand soi-disant conservatives’ affection for, among other things, Star Trek and Terry Pratchett.
These people hate you and are on the other side.
A change not for the better.
Right now I am both numb and angry over what happened today. And tomorrow is 9/22, a day that I will never forget, especially as a native of NYC.
But let me tell you something to lighten hearts. My husband had his surgery, with his cancer removed (some 75% of his tongue) as well as his lymph nodes. I read the pathology reports on what they removed and ran it through AI to put into plain English.
NO CANCER.
The chemo killed it. Nothing detected at a microscopic level.
And so with that relief, I am praying for the soul of Charlie Kirk and solace for his young family.
That’s wonderful. Best wishes to you and him.
Yes, well, add Tom Lehrer, the Marx Brothers, Mark Twain, Monty Python, Calvin and Hobbes, and any number of works and authors on the True Conservative® Index Librorum Prohibitorum.

What Charlie Kirk said about assassination culture only 5 months ago:
Must not forget the leftist culture that demonizes as Nazis anyone who disagrees.
After decades of such propaganda, is it any wonder that we have so many “liberals” thinking it’s okay to murder conservatives?
That is awesome news!
I’m sick to my stomach. The video was/is so horrific, that really was a wound that was beyond anyone’s help.
Nick Freitas gets it.
re Ayn Rand and Terry Pritchard, I always take Heinlein.
Stranger in a Strange Land is the best descriptor of people I’ve ever read.
My hippy 5th grade teacher gave it to me
Hippies wanted to be VM Smith.
Since I don’t speak Martian, I wanted to be Jubal Harshaw
I felt bad for him that that book made me conservative/libertarian.
Konstantin Kisin:
I’ve long felt it was there, and hoped that it would not be crossed while at the same time fearing that such a crossing was likely: Many years ago I started to notice just how much contempt liberals had for the truth and for the civil rights of conservatives. Zero concern or even discomfort at the infringement of basic rights of speech, assembly, association, etc. Liberals would mouth pro forma support for free speech, but their political rhetoric and their actions showed such support to be insincere. The totalitarian tendency has only been growing since I first noticed it.
I now find it virtually impossible to see liberals as anything better than totalitarians wearing badly fitting smiley face masks.
Noam Blum on Charlie Kirk, the left, and the moral high ground:
I’m persnickety about definitions, and by my definition you don’t have a civil war until you have units of the regular armed forces shooting at each other.
But I’ve been thinking for some time that the US is on the knife edge of something very, very close – insurrection, nationwide mob violence, armed uprisings, something. I sincerely doubt it will reach civil war simply because the rank and file of the Guard and the military are solidly behind Trump. But Kent State writ large is looking like a certainty.
And as Kisin fears, such things spiral out of control very, very quickly. I can foresee multiple Democrat-run cities simultaneously tearing themselves apart in open rioting, egged on and funded by the left’s dark networks, as Trump plays whack-a-mole with the Guard.
I don’t think Kirk’s murder is the Archduke Ferdinand moment, but I think it’s an alarm klaxon that that moment is imminent.
Dude, every Moist von Lipwig book is Heinlein levels of Pratchett preaching the virtues of the utterly failed policies of English soft socialism to his readers. He’s always been like that, but in his last books he just completely dropped the mask.
My thesis is that most fans encounter Pratchett as adolescents and are attracted to the undertone of faux intellectualism and smug self-righteousness. And since they never go on to read any actual adult non-fiction, they never encounter all the real-world evidence that none of his ideas actually work.
This.
We got here because of exceptionally dark machinations. A dark money machine laundering millions through sketchy NGOs. Sociopath DAs being lofted into office by the Mother of All Sociopaths and his filthy lucre. Stuff we haven’t begun to understand.
It wouldn’t actually help matters to start taking out “some of them.” Rando lefties are annoying but they’re not the core of the problem.
It would help for the work that DOGE and DataRepublican started to continue in earnest until their hellish machine is dismantled down to the last bolt, and the participants have lost all status and influence in this world.
If you want to focus your indignation (nay, rage) in a constructive direction, put your shoulder into that project. Let your congress critters know in no uncertain terms that they need to make it THEIR project to, and if they don’t, you’ll have no choice but to assume they’re part of it.
It depends on who the assassin turns out to be. That was a helluva kill shot. As a commenter said:
There were rumblings about Kirk having presidential ambitions. This could have been a hit.
Trump’s speechwriter hits all the right notes, and the delivery has a tiny catch in the voice.
God Almighty, people knew.
And they tipped their hand.

Posted on 8 Sep 2025.
People knew. It wasn’t a lone-wolf nutjob. It was planned all along.
I’ve now spent half an hour or so watching dozens of people who regard themselves as progressive filming themselves doing jolly dance moves and cheering the death of a supposed “fascist.” Often with a spiteful creativity. Because someone who debated students on campuses, generally in a civil and entertaining way, has been murdered.
Oh, and women with big glasses asking if the shooter is single.
I’m trying to reverse the polarity and imagine if there were anyone on the other side whose death would tickle me like that.
Laurie Penny?
Any snide Hollywood actor/activist?
No, I don’t think I would be tickled at their deaths. I might be relieved that they can’t hurt anyone anymore, but I wouldn’t be gleeful.
And I definitely wouldn’t post myself giggling about it on the internet.
Well, quite. I don’t know much about Mr Kirk, beyond a handful of campus debate clips, which were, on his part, both civil and entertaining. So I’ve no idea what would justify accusations of “fascism” or of being a “Nazi.”
It’s hard not to see such ostentatiously gleeful and self-satisfied reactions to his murder – and they are numerous – as somewhat telling of those uploading their glee.
Our empathy-drenched betters, the ones who care so very much.
Though not, it seems, about students who see someone being murdered right in front of them, in broad daylight, and who then have to flee in fear for their lives.
Next county down from me.
They’re showing their true selves.
Well, I could easily spend the rest of the day linking to social media uploads by self-styled progressives – generally women with weirdly enormous glasses – in which they express amusement or triumph at a very public murder, albeit for reasons that are unclear and which for the most part they choose not to share.
But I don’t think I’ll do that.
Some days you just don’t feel like canoeing through other people’s excrement.
Bluesky is a sewer.
I’ve known many liberals for many years. They define disagreement as fascism.
It doesn’t have to make actual sense; only revolutionary Marxist sense.
But I assume leftists have been posting similar things about Charlie Kirk for quite a while, in which case those two posts don’t necessarily have special significance.
On the other hand, I am certain that most leftists would not report an actual assassination plot to the police or FBI.
“J.K. Rowling next”
Some people are just f*cking evil.
Since I don’t speak Martian, I wanted to be Jubal Harshaw
Jubal is and will always be my fictional hero. It is one of the reasons why I am glad they never tried to bring the book into a movie or streaming series, because I am afraid they’d muck it up.
The bigger the glasses the more batshit crazy they are.
I am sure they would.

Fact check: True.
I guess that is shorter than saying, “He disagrees with me and won’t accept our warped ideology, uses facts and logic to refute our lies, foibles, and hypocrisy, and leads others from our shitwittery.”
Q: How did this utter moron get elected?
A: Her constituents are just as ignorant and stupid.
She is their representative.
I do remember being rather happy after they finally put Ted Bundy down. I did a little dance. In my chair. I couldn’t be bothered to even stand up. Others, like Pol Pot or Saddam Hussien or even bin Ladin I was more of a thank-God-that’s-over-with. And you will notice these most joyful ones are mostly women. You know, the sugar and spice and everything nice people. I knew that was propaganda BS when I was five years old. In kindergarten. After meeting Jill Donnelley. Who mocked my mother’s cookies for not being perfectly round. That bitch.
Good point but now I need mind-bleach.
