On historically accurate casting – and its opponents.
It is, needless to say, slightly surreal to see supposedly serious productions sharing behind-the-scenes footage, in which we’re invited to admire the craft of the set decorators, production designers, costume designers, etc., and their detailed, punctilious recreations of the period, while the people wearing the costumes and striding about the sets are demographically bizarre. As if we’re not supposed to notice.
And in transgender-sex-offender-urine-hurling news.
Despite his prodigious criminal activity, often repeated in the same locations, Mr Koko – complete with bicycle and polka-dot dress – proved difficult to apprehend. Possibly due to the public being told by both the police and the media that the person engaging in such activities, and for whom they should be alert, was somehow a woman.

And it is, I think, worth noting that the nation’s capital, where these dramas of “resistance” unfold, has in my lifetime gone from a native white-majority city, over 90%, to a native white-minority one, around 35%. Yet it would seem that even this dramatically downsized white devil population is, for some, still too burdensome and oppressive. A cause of “collective trauma.”

From the world of niche pornography.
See, I bring you the wonders of the world.
The ladies’ act of presenting themselves as the opposite sex, albeit with extra steps, was not, it seems, deemed affirming by those who like to present themselves as the opposite sex.
“My gender isn’t your costume,” said this chap here, a self-styled “eGirl, but like, with a penis or whatever.” Other indignant rumblings included accusations of deception and fraud, the inevitable “transphobia,” and demands that the ladies in question “don’t get in our space.” Another bewigged gentleman denounced the “masquerade” as “disgusting.”
For those craving more, this is a pretty good place to start.

Only just spotted this:
He he.
Do you ever think about your parents, grand parents, and if you were blessed to know them, your great-grandparents? What they went through, the trials and tribulations, the sacrifices that they made, the risks, etc.? I do. I’m kinda sick that way. And it embarrasses the hell out of me that I have been part of a couple of newer generations that tolerated this degeneracy. All that hard work to create the greatest civilization the world has ever seen, only to surrender it to f’n lunatics. Not Mongol hordes, not waves of Vandals and Visigoths, not even Spanish conquistadors. Morons who don’t even know what a woman is. People who lack the will to make the slightest noise to fight it. Sometimes I sincerely hope that there truly is no afterlife. I would be embarrassed to face my ancestors.
Well, it would seem to follow the general, er, logic. Such as it is.
As I said in the original thread:
Again, there doesn’t seem to be much in the way of consistency. Beyond a preening obnoxiousness, an inapt presumption, and possibly an animus towards white people and their history, I mean.
In other news, Laurie Penny is transgender now.
[ Slurps coffee. ]
I’d somehow forgotten just how absurd she is.
So white actors playing white characters isn’t “relevant”? This Hanna Flint sounds like a bit of a racist.
What is it with some people?
Here I respond (click over, scroll up) to a woman who is, shall we say, over-literal in her interpretation of certain principles.
If she’s ASD, then maybe she genuinely can’t parse the difference, but I suspect not. I suspect she’s just better than the rest of us.
Well, you know, when they say it out loud…
Yes, that.
What took her so long? Reflexes fading with age?
Almost a quarter-million “unaccompanied minors” crossed the border during the Biden Admin and were promptly lost.
Daily Mail claims that the Trump admin has been tracking them down:
Think about it: How many Latino parents are going to randomly send their little kids north to cross the border unaccompanied? “Sure, we’ll just send Miguelito que tiene siete añitos to live with his tía Juanita in Wisconsin. He should be just fine making the journey alone.”
Good grief. What the hell is wrong with us. We can condemn the Pakistani Rape Gangs all day long but we can’t ignore the unaccompanied minor scandal right here in our country.
As I said some years ago,
You don’t want to be seen wearing last season’s identity tags, after all.
Some? It’s most. Most people are bloody crazy. And the craziest, most self-confident in their brand of crazy, “educated” in it, are drawn to Twitter/X.
They have to reverse the meaning of words.
I’m still rather tickled by the idea of a politically corrected version of The Crown with an inexplicably black Princess Margaret.
Okay, so the first red flag? The bullet proof glass at the counter.
Well, if you simply swap around the national and racial groups and apply the same modish reasoning – a pretty obvious thing to do – the effect can be a little jarring.
Imagine endless whiny articles being published in South Korean newspapers and fashion magazines, all written by white migrants, asking, “Why Is The Next Wave Of Korean Period Dramas So Korean, And Not White?” Articles asking, rather sniffily, “Why do we need to see these stories told from the factory setting of a Korean perspective?” before demanding “historical inclusivity,” i.e., the insertion of racially incongruous actors.
And all with the pointed implication that any Korean viewers who find these demands unconvincing, or their results distracting, must obviously hate white people.
It would, I think, seem a little… odd.
I think today’s word should be clientele.
He just happened to be carrying one.
*irony metre explodes*
It is a bit much, really.
Nobody forcibly restrains the little shit because under the current legal system* it is very risky to do so.
* Dare I call it anarcho-tyranny?
Renaming of note.
I’d somehow forgotten just how absurd she is.
TBF, she did have a point, as inadvertent and confused as it is, there is a two tier system albeit, as has been seen recently, where her ilk can say and do anything they want with impunity and the objecting normal people faced with gaol.
Meanwhile, won’t someone think of the

I’m just going to leave that there, I think.

Cook, cook, cook.
She sounds like an anti-Ben Shapiro – similar irritating, high-pitched, delivery but pressed into conveying utter nonsense.
One pistol would have stopped this attack…and improved the species.
Never a third rail around when you need one.
Meanwhile, boing, boing, boing…
Ms Penny can on occasion turn a phrase, but she struggles with coherent thinking, such that one thing might be expected to follow from another. Nor does she seem concerned by whether or not what she says bears any relation at all to observable reality. Her assertions, and they are many, appear to exist independently of what actually exists and can readily be seen, and even independently of each other.
She’s the walking definition of an unreliable narrator. To a degree one might call shameless.
These not insignificant shortcomings, which I’ve illustrated many times over the years, did not seem to impede her journalistic career.
Well, I suppose you could throw any thugs who are merely wounded against the third rail, but I’d hate for anyone to do something that interferes with the trains.
This tells us something very important about the news industry, not just about the industry as a whole but about those who run it–its leading lights, so to speak.
Because I’m petty and shallow, that’s why.
The bigger problem tho is that the articles aren’t all being written by the immigrants. Imagine what your impression of the Koreans would be, even has a white person who didn’t feel like he had a dog in whatever fight was going on, what your impression of the Koreans who fawned all over white people. Especially the violent ones. Especially the violent ones who didn’t limit their violence to the Koreans but included other white peoples as well in their actions. I certainly would have little respect for the Koreans even if they were giving me benefits. I would question them as to why they are being so bloody stupid. Maybe. If I was there for any reason other than grifting them. Maybe. In a virus-shouldn’t-kill-the-host sense.
…but I’d hate for anyone to do something that interferes with the trains.
If an M109 on a flatbed isn’t an obstacle, don’t think a thug will be either.
She’s such an attractive person. In so many ways.
Magnus Carlsen would have difficulty following all the pieces.

Trans and bathrooms: this calls to mind here in US back in 80s (90s?) when women protested that not allowing female reporters into sports locker rooms to interview the teams was discrimination. And everyone caved in spite of men showering and changing clothes. Because reasons. So violating single sex spaces was initiated by…feminists.
Thugs: it has been argued that civilized countries over the last 2000 years executed so many violent criminals that they changed the genome. Thus cultures with a long history are less violent (not counting wars).
Family trees oft need pruning.
Sometimes with an axe.
I don’t think she’s ever written anything that was true.
Interesting, I saw another segment from that show that included a Trans-woman and Laurie said she wasn’t trans, she was non-binary. When pressed by the trans person and Piers she couldn’t explain what that meant.
The trans-person got quite indignant and said that people who claimed to be non-binary were mocking the trans. Just when you thought things couldn’t get any more absurd.
So, another Lillian Hellman.
There are numerous examples of Laurie’s unreliable narrating, but one that comes to mind is her Guardian piece on the activist ‘occupation’ at the University of London in 2013, which simply denied the reality that had been caught on camera and uploaded to YouTube days before.
Despite the footage of gleeful intimidation, thuggery and vandalism, and the terrified staff trapped in their offices, and the smoke bombs, the barricaded fire escapes, and the masked activists laying siege to an entire building… despite all this… Laurie insisted that the “protest” had been “a peaceful occupation.”
The extensive evidence to the contrary, hours of it, all readily available, did not result in any subsequent correction or acknowledgement of error.
This bears repeating.
Whatever happened to Laurie Penny’s be-penised husband from Covid times?
I haven’t had a chance to watch more than a few minutes of this, but it may be of interest. On the neurotic, humourless dishonesty of modern academia.
I want to see McGregor win in Ireland, then let the punching begin.
