Oh, and this blog is kept afloat by the tip jar buttons below. Just sayin’.

It’s only a matter of time before ACGAS presents us with a black trans paraplegic stripper and small animal vet.
And yet a BBC production of The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency would likely represent the cast faithfully according to the books, the time and the place, with no qualms at all about whether every possible skin color and ethnicity was included. I would further suspect the BBC would not change the gender or the sexuality of any of the beloved characters in that series, given how some cultures in the region feel about such things.
“I wonder how many there were a century earlier:”
I read George Bernard Shaw’s letters decades ago, and one standout was his advice to a fan about vegetarian restaurants in London.
Think about that. You have regular British cuisine, and then you have British vegetarian cuisine. And it was about as tasty as you’d imagine.
Better late than never?
My first trip to Yosemite was in 1964 … I was 10 and utterly enchanted. I remember a talk by a park ranger on how fire suppression had been stunting the redwoods (which grow very slowly) and how they were learning that control burns clear out trash pines and undergrowth, not touching the redwoods, and resulted in lush meadows with fertile soil.
Seems the nomadic tribe that had Yosemite as part of their wanderings actually would set the valley on fire every so often just for those reasons — lush meadows = more game.
The rabid Greens in CA have caused death and destruction with prioritizing certain exotic plants and animals. That’s the dirty secret of the Palisades fire (and the 2018 Camp Fire).
Can it be found online?
The mind reels at the possibility that even Oxbridge grads can learn.
Because it is already 100% diverse. (I.e., no white people at all.)

Wooooow. My bro lives just south of Nashville, and he lost power for maybe 3 hours. Part of it owes to the freezing rain being less severe (he was on the boundary of the regular rain and the ice), and now it looks like it’s because the mayor of his city isn’t a moron.
who has been sacked.
My niece recently graduated from nursing school and was stoked to get a job at Duke University Health. She was there only a few months before needing to quite owing to her own health problems, but she said there was a pretty toxic mean-girls dynamic among the nurses.
As for tree-management policies, it sounds like people don’t remember the Yellowstone fires of 1988. The dry year plus aggressive fire-suppression policies of the past led to some controlled burns (which they were starting to do) getting out of control, combining, and laying waste to vast acres of lodgepole pines, which usually survive fires.
I was working at the Zion National Park lodge that summer, and some displaced Yellowstone employees came down to work at our lodge because the same company ran the concessions in both places. Really weird people, I’m tellin’ ya. Just one rank above carnies.
I’ve got a tenner that says she was sexually assaulted at some point, and it’s metastasized into Borderline PD, so she’s triggered by the drakes pursuing the hens, interpreting it as rape.
God help us.
A few years ago I was studying cellular metabolism (to try to diagnose something) and I lit upon ATP synthase. I still have a hard time believing it’s real.
Embedded in our mitochondrial membranes are literal TURBINES that mechanically spin, powered by the ion differential across the membrane. ADP molecules (with two phosphorus atoms) enter in the turbine, and as the thing turns it physically squishes another phosphorus atom onto the ADP, turning it into ATP (triposphate).
Then when some process in the cell needs a zotz of energy, it pries the phosphorus atom off the ATP, and breaking the molecular bond releases energy.
Take your pick among the animations.

There will be no shortage of little Dutch boys shoving what appendages are to hand into into that breach.

So the logic here is, what?
If they’d torn down the camps, the occupants would have found somewhere warm?
Doxing the doxers.
Woom Sing Tse, the perfect embodiment of what BLM really means.
There are a lot more where those two came from.
Were Adam and Eve Black transgender refugees?
No, really.
A perfect response.
Couldn’t get too far into that Adam & Eve article. The exegetical nonsense density was too high, even in the first couple of paragraphs.
And it took me a minute to see the MST3K Shadowrama silhouette, because I have the 24/7 Twitch channel on in another tab, so it’s my default view.
It’s the casual arrogance of the conceit. The idea that a country to which you’ve migrated, or to which your parents migrated, should reorganise its history, its cultural memory, in fanciful and jarring ways in order to accommodate you.
The idea that you or your proxies should be anachronistically inserted into historical depictions. With any whiff of objection, any suggestion of an issue, being hastily and quite vehemently denounced as bigotry and wickedness.
I mean, I’m trying to imagine upping sticks to, say, South Korea and expecting the locals to make their historical dramas flatter people who look like me.
It’s… odd. A weird thing to demand.
For me, too. The terms Jesuitical and Talmudical were invented for this sort of bullshit.
That’s my default view of the world around me.
Possibly, but the Vegas bookies have her as just another narcissistic Gen Z ass (BIRM) who took one too many “gender studies” classes (which is, of course, just one).
Black, unknowable, could have been blue till the methemoglobinemia got sorted. Given that per the story there was only one of each, that would pretty much be an impossibility on the “trans” horsecrap. Seeking refuge from the oppressive oppression in the (cleans glasses) Garden of Eden. Well, OK, then, I guess the next step is “God was literally Hitler”.
Not exactly a ringing endorsement that Newsweak would support this dreck.

Reverse racism?
Use the farce.

Clarification: A perfect response to much of pop culture. I know nothing about the movie in question and was barely aware of its existence. On the other hand, Nick Gillespie is an editor at Reason magazine so his words are always suspect.
“Well-meaning liberals”
T’ain’t no such thing.
Regarding which:
Headline of note.
One can only guess at whose modern world they’re talking about.
I have to say, if your three parents all abandon you, as apparently happens to the character, then the word family seems somewhat inapt.
Maybe. Maybe not. Typical situation where nobody really knows except those who really know, and they really, really know both yes and no. Some of us don’t know but that’s the definition of ignorance, inninit?
I have seen several explanations for the TDS of AWFLs, such as misplaced nurturing instinct. These explanations might explain naive support for not deporting illegals or for not punishing criminals, but these seem to me to fall short of explaining the rage, the crazy. I do not have my own theory.
Agree. The explanations appear to me to be part of what I call “simping for the status quo”. There’s a desire to put our current crazy, mixed up world in some sort of logical context while denying the deeper problem which is the society wide brainwashing that Bezmenov and many others spoke of, that Orwell predicted, which again, no one wants to acknowledge because there likely is no polite solution. Additionally, it is not logical nor reasonable to acknowledge it without accepting some level of personal responsibility for having participated in or at the very least tolerated it for a couple of generations now. It’s a very, very deep problem. Yet we are all required to pretend otherwise in order to just get through life. You cannot even make a dent in this problem without having to compromise anything approaching reality just to get to the edge of the overton window.
Musical interlude
Beautiful. The ending made me think of this song. Her version is classic, but I’ve got a soft spot for the Leningrad Cowboy version with the Red Army choir.
Because the writers, producers, actors, and probably most of the crew (with the possible exception of the third assistant grip) are knee jerk leftists incapable of independent thought trying to shove their “woke” dogma down everyone’s throats?
The culturally enriched winter driving experience.
“Racist!” and “I’ll beat your ass!”
And most of them are Cluster B or worse?
I noticed that too. Then they bent over backwards to try to make her fit. They made her a nurse who worked at the local hospital even though Darrowby had no hospital. The closest hospital in the books and TV shows would have been Thirsk. So it’s not as if she would have commuted to Thirsk to work. Then in another episode they created another black family, a mother and her grown son who returned from the war with PTSD who is now going to help James’s father-in-law around the farm.
It all gets to be a little much. Though, I suppose the Star Trek people would have added Klingons.
Here’s some of the explanation for TDS among leftist women, coming from a gay guy who used to be as hysterical as they about Trump.
The “blacks arrested for breaking the law is slavery” experience.
I think I preferred the Jimi Hendrix Experience.
What we’ve discovered in Canada is when a diversity workforce does the hiring, they hire uniformity.
If you’re far enough left, everything is slavery.
No prior experience with abusive men is necessary: Betas and gammas fearm, hate, and resent all masculine men.

For those who don’t recognize the background music, it’s the old theme from Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom, a hugely popular nature show from the 70s. We all got our nature documentary nourishment from just this one show.
Downthread, we get:
So.
The ‘Leopards Eating Peoples Faces Party’ actually exists, and we just saw one of the voters.
Good to know.
Very, very minor case in point…the recent “sighting” of William Shatner eating cereal while driving around in his car* was obviously leading to something. It wasn’t like someone was sitting in their car and just happened to see The Shat who just might have happened to be eating cereal. We’re just not supposed to notice such things until we are given the OK.
