Friday Ephemera (733)
Gambling den of note. || From 1978, a brief guide to stuffed chine. || Cross-section of something familiar. || Not finding it didn’t matter. || Meanwhile, in Wales. || Leaf sheep, also glows. || Now that the clock is ticking, name the countries of the world. || Humans next to enormous things, a thread. || Careful now. || Wooing tip. || Yam fondling. || Joe has had a face transplant. || The thrill of patent leather. || An elevated pig. || Pole dancing. || Perhaps he identified as a slow-moving truck. || “Be real,” much hooting. || A lowering of the scrotum. || A tool for every job. || She’s got a big one. || Suboptimal location. || Burdensome behaviour seen from afar. (h/t, pst314) || Don’t send gifts. || A footwear choice was made. || And finally, because you demanded it, AI does breakdancing.

We let these movie people consume way too much of our lives. The book people as well. I have an hour or two (or a couple days perhaps for a book) and I’m interested in hearing a story. I should not have to, nor be expected to, invest untold other hours researching what other BS is running around the fevered brain of the author/director/whatever. This is where much of the brainwashing goes on. It’s one thing to present an idea for consideration. To drag me into some endless morass of BS breaks the initial contract and is deserving of a f*** off. But of course, that is wrong. Gotta be a good do-bee and go along with what the group wants. And hence endless sequels and prequels. Lest the masses get lives of their own.
I laughed. No, I’m not sorry.
I laughed. Yes, I am sorry but I just couldn’t help myself. And yes, I’m working my way through Ace’s ONT.
Band name, obviously.
True. But Fat Rubbing Kneeds gives it that little extra panache.
The Other Half is playing Cities: Skylines. Many hours have passed.
I’ve never known such quiet.
“Alien” sequels…
If memory serves, Sigourney Weaver was asked why she agreed to do #4. “Because they drove a dump truck full of money to my house.”
Almost as good as Michael Caine’s remarks about his “Jaws” foray.
[ Considers rewatching Alien. ]
from that comment thread, David wrote:
I can’t help thinking that some of those fans may have been paid whores for the studio.
Although to be fair I have encountered fans of various books and movies who were indeed honest but were either blind or stupid.
Trolling wokies: some wag went to a top California Univ and asked students to sign a doc to share their grades with the less fortunate. Like “redistributing” wealth. They got indignant.
In another case, someone interviewed blacks about the claim that they don’t have ID and don’t know where to vote. Also indignant.
hahahazhaha
Okay, I know I’m way late to the party, but I just watched GoT Season 8 Episode 3, The Long Night. How disappointing was that? First of all it was filmed so dark I thought my TV screen was dying, then these White Walker dudes that had been built up over 7 seasons as nearly invincible get beat by a little girl who pulls the old switch hands with the knife trick to wipe out the whole army of the dead. Only slightly more annoying than the ten year old girl killing the dead giant (think about that one) by knifing him in the eye. It all reminded me of this nonsense rhyme:
I’ve been told the worst is yet to come. Oh well. Please no spoilers. I want to get disappointed all by myself.
Steve, to paraphrase River Tam, it will get much, much worse.
The way I heard it, with augmented nonsense:
Boy Scouts, USA.
If leftists couldn’t lie they would surly perish from ennui and despair.

More surprised to find out Amnesty International ran out political prisoners.
Amnesty International stopped being about political prisoners back about the time that the American Civil Liberties Union stopped being about Americans’ civil liberties.
Fear not, you will be.
Again, imagine the mindset. A mindset in which you have to pointedly not share an obviously relevant piece of information in order to maintain the pretence of righteousness.
Or, “If we let them see the reality of the situation, they won’t comply. So we mustn’t let them see the reality of the situation.”
Imagine that’s your thought process, consciously or otherwise.
A more honest and realistic report might say, “Weirdly vindictive cross-dressing man launches years-long harassment campaign against women who object to the imposition of his sinister compulsions, namely making women and girls uncomfortable for his own gratification.”
Or, “Weirdly vindictive cross-dressing men who exult in violating the normal boundaries of women and girls are an obvious danger and should be dealt with accordingly.”
Something along those lines.
I think we’ll give that one a post of its own.
Comments that-a-way.
Effective camo.
Not SO effective. Even from here I can see a “Perry” class frigate, at anchor. Easy target.
One ping only, Vasiliy.
So you’d hit it?
