Everywhere, All The Time
So, I’ve returned from my travels and I have questions. Among them, why is a planet-wide celebration of athleticism and uncommon sporting prowess being introduced with yet another tedious display of cross-dressing, oddly selective sacrilege, and self-satisfied obesity?
Perhaps I’m missing something. By all means, illuminate me in the comments.
Update, via the comments, where dicentra adds,
I was struck more by the tackiness, the tawdriness of the thing. It just looked so inapt, so adolescent and low-rent. Hackneyed to the point of anachronism. It occurred to me that as a snapshot of a collective cultural psyche, a statement of where we are, or where Our Betters are. it doesn’t instil any great confidence. Or – what’s the word? – oh yes, pride.
Sort of,
I suppose the gender-bending and drag bacchanalia could be construed as some kind of comment on the current Olympic rules regarding who may compete in women’s events – i.e., women, not men. At least, not men who have gone through puberty. So, some men. But not as many as some activists and “allies” might wish. Say, ostentatiously “queer” artistic directors of Olympic opening ceremonies. Maybe even this small concession to physical reality – that men and women are different – was deemed a provocation, an outrage, and a basis for retaliation. As if not being allowed to cheat were a form of oppression.
It’s just a thought. Though not, I think, a wildly implausible one.
Also, open thread.
A professor who tells us that a preference for men not cheating in women’s sports will “delegitimise trans identities.”
What a very good idea!
This guy seems believable as to having been a classmate of Elon’s “dead name” son. It offers a very good explanation as to the stupidity of smart people.
waffle, waffle, waffle
breakfast, with fresh fruits, coffee, and cream.
I’ll exercise tomorrow. Yes, that’s the plan.
Note how nakedly irrelevant – and evasive – the line of thinking is. The problem being discussed – men cheating in women’s events – can be dismissed out of hand as inconsequential because other, quite different issues – which have no direct bearing on the actual topic – exist, or may exist.
The dynamic is basically:
Or, put another way, “male privilege” is a terrible, terrible thing – except when it doesn’t suit the increasingly convoluted pretensions of those who bang on about “male privilege.” When it doesn’t suit The New Progressive Pecking Order.
And this, along with an equally casual dismissal of obvious biological realities, is the intellectual standard of our assistant professor, our expert in “queer politics and activisms.”
Did I miss target pissing becoming an Olympic sport?
You’d think ‘right wingers’ would be putting up obstacles to the likes of Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Henry Rogers (a.k.a. Ibram X. Kendi), and the other race hustlers.
The professor is not getting any of my pancakes. Nor, despite the cogency of your argument, are you, David.
I know. Even my wife thinks I’m a mean old bastard.

Nom, nom, nom.
Sip.
It was Canada, the PM was the first Trudeau:
That’s what I told myself last night after eating that seafood and pasta dinner.
I am pretty sure that people started eating squid when so hungry that they ate anything in the net–absolutely sure about sea cucumber in that regard.
I don’t recall ever hearing about that. So Justin Trudeau learned some of his nasty habits from Pierre, not just Fidel Castro.
Nature + nurture.
Remember – he was “the smart one,” our philosopher-king
“New Gay Testament.”
I have no idea what those words in that order are supposed to mean.
However, found via the replies:
Captures something of the experience, I think.
New Gay Testament
Wouldn’t a “queer lesbian” really be straight?
So Justin Trudeau learned some of his nasty habits from Pierre
Pierre was as nasty as they come. One of the unsubstantiated “legends” has Pierre riding around Montreal on his motorcycle wearing a first world war German army helmet in 1942.
James Lindsay has an interesting podcast here on Trudeau and his ties to the Club of Rome.
It appears the Paris Olympics are an actual shitshow.
Too many immigrants shitting in the streets?
Understandable confusion.
There is no trans woman advantage in sports. Just ignore the vanishingly small number of trans women who waltz in and go straight to the top of weight lifting, biking, running etc, in competition with thousands of actual women. Inconsequential. Irrelevant.
Now, I’m not a Christian. I’m an atheist, though I judge Christians largely as good people, doing their best with the religion they’ve got.
These people here, are *not* good people.
They produce fatuous garbage, and very intentionally so, in order not only to insult Christians but also anyone with taste.
What strikes me is especially that the French state is in on it. Why?
I presume: A certain deep-rooted establishment wishes stick it in the eye of most of the French electorate, as a power statement. “You *think* you have democracy, but no, *we* are in charge, no matter the vote.”
“Yawn” is right. Tiresome, same ol’ same ol’, fat tranny, occult symbolism, whatever…Is this all you got?
it’s been done to death for years.
Yes. Seeing a lot of this from “conservatives”. Not good. This passivity that gets passed off as “wisdom”…keep turning the other cheek. Yeah. No. Conservatives need to get some backbone. And I do see some are starting to wake up to the reality that at some point you must fight back. Challenging the left to be more and more obnoxious only encourages them to…be more and more obnoxious. Will they burn themselves out? Maybe. Maybe. So long as you yourself will not suffer the damage done in the meantime. Eventually. Maybe the intervening bad stuff happens to someone else. Not a winning strategy in my opinion. Reads like surrender. I’m quite certain the left sees it that way. They continue to take more and more cultural territory. Not only must it stop, but it needs to be reversed. Significantly. And they still have the momentum. Don’t fool yourselves.
A similar error in the 50s.
