Pejoratives Were Deployed
They’re bringing us together with their intersectional piety:
Gettysburg College has postponed a painting and writing event hosted by its Gender Sexuality and Resource Centre for people who are “Tired of white cis men.” The private Pennsylvania college offered the event as part of a peace and justice, or “P&J,” senior project, but has since postponed it after it was shared online. The event, originally scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 12, told people to “come paint and write about” how they are tired of straight, white men. The pieces from the event would then be displayed in the school’s dining hall for the campus to view.
For a mere $76,000 a year, you too can receive such lofty moral instruction.
Update, via the comments:
Connor adds, “It’s like everything they say has to be reversed.”
Well, yes, frequently. It’s not obvious, for instance, how “peace” would be achieved by cultivating a pretentious and competitive disdain for one’s classmates, and for random passers-by, based on their sex and skin colour. It’s also somewhat doubtful that the supposedly oppressive and fatigue-inducing properties of any other racial demographic would be a basis for an art event at an upscale college.
But as Lionel Shriver once put it, “Progressives seem especially prone to disguising one feeling as another.” And so, a contrived, self-flattering resentment – and outright bigotry – become acts of woke piety. And students are encouraged to believe that badmouthing people based on their skin colour is a thing one does in order to bond and make friends, and to impress others and thereby become statusful.
The Independent, inevitably, uses the term “conservative backlash” to account for the postponement of the event, which, we’re told, wasn’t officially endorsed by the college. It was, it seems, merely something in the air. As it so often is in progressive academia.
And only “conservative activists” – complete with implied disapproval and rumblings about recruiting others – warrant a mention. As if the only activism to be concerned about were that of those objecting to the assumptions and sentiments on display. We’re told that students were merely invited to “express their feelings about America’s dominant identity group.” Though any feelings were clearly assumed by the organiser to be necessarily negative, as if no demurral were conceivable. As if resentment and fatigue were the prevailing fashion, the only right answers.
It is, I think, curious that so many students should begin exhibiting sentiments of this kind, and others much like them, often quite emphatically, upon exposure to academia’s Clown Quarter. A fiefdom of the woke. But that kind of activism, which is much more pervasive and indeed institutional, needn’t concern us, it seems.

Similarly, gas stations are another problem with this world…

As we are almost 50 comments in and I feel a need to vent to someone, anyone remotely sane left in this world…so please forgive me…Why am I constantly that lone voice saying, “Wait a minute….” and taking all the flak?
My sympathies. My condo is not that bad, but we have our problems: We have only a few “difficult” owners. And we used to have a board member who “just did stuff” and never told anyone what he did or how to do things. Our problems chiefly result from many years of delaying work to save money. And choosing the lowest bidder to save money. We now have a board which is committed to doing things right, but it takes time to get back on track: Find a good tuckpointing company to replace the cheap-ass company that did such a poor job last time. Find a better company for resurfacing garage floors so they don’t peel and flake. Find a better company to do proper repairs and painting of balconies, after too many years of neglect. Educate the owners that they really, really need to have their HVAC inspected and serviced each year or else they will spend far more money later for repairs. Educate owners on the simple preventive maintenance tasks they can do yearly to save thousands of dollars later. Upgrade light fixtures to LED, which will pay itself back in just a few years, and should have been done a couple years ago. And so on. And so forth.
My sympathies. My condo is not that bad,
Oh I was not posting that as an HOA specific issue. Much like my post just now about Philadelphia gas stations. What I’m speaking of is a much broader issue of social hopelessness and helplessness. What is also interesting but I failed to mention is that I discovered the initial Next Door post about our community whilst looking for info on what the city was doing to fix the six week old problems with roads and trees and such. When scrolling through those posts they are thick with people defending the city’s piss-poor efforts. And those people get paid to do their jobs. Pathetic society we live in…
Not only is the gas station industry not doing anything about this “epidemic,” the City of Philadelphia didn’t leap into action either.
What the hell can the “gas station industry” do about the feral thug epidemic when no one is allowed by The Narrative and TPTB to even mention the “gas station shooting epidemic” in anything but the vaguest of terms. The corruptocrats of Philly, Chicago, Baltimore, SF, pick-your-favorite-urban-hellhole in the US aren’t going to do anything but deny that crime is even happening, and if forced to admit it, blame guns and gas stations.
“””One anonymous Gettysburg alumnus told Fox News Digital that he was “pretty upset” by the event and that “as a White, cis male,…””
Giving in to their propaganda terms is the first mistake. Just because they make up gibberish is no reason to reinforce the delusion by repeating it..
And who would a young anti-gun activist turn to in order to buttress his false claim that service stations are somehow culpable for murder? How about a local attorney who has filed lawsuits against nine gas stations because people were shot in their parking lots.
That same shyster dog-f*cker would sue any gas station that attempted to do something.
Rubber boobs is back in the news.
What the hell can the “gas station industry” do about the feral thug epidemic…?
Nothing, obvs. The real aim is hinted in the quote from the Trace article:
Not “make gas stations safe,” but “address” the issue. In plain words: regulate gas stations — first requiring the posting of “no guns” signs, and the installation of security cameras; and perhaps eventually limiting their hours of operation, who may work there, how they must be trained (and who may be allowed to train them). Since none of these regulations will make gas stations perfectly safe, the regulators will always claim grounds to demand further regulations.
It is “theft by office” — a particularly duplicitous kind of extortion. The gas station owners would be forced to pay, either in complying with the regulations, or in being held liable for the criminal acts of others on their property. Leftist-compliant prosecutors would be enabled to use against them the legal fiction that they had not taken “reasonable precautions” — fiction because the so-called precautions are nothing but those costly and ineffective regulations.
Gas station owners would be caught in a pincers, forced to pay either before or after the fact. And the cost inescapably gets passed to the customer, so you and I must pay too, and keep on paying.
That is called “addressing gas station safety.” The amount of crime at gas stations — it’s not epidemic, but no amount is good — would not change one jot.

Rubber Boobs
The long awaited sixth studio album by the band Crazy Earth Women. Granted not very original but my OCD would not let me get on with my day until someone said it.
