Don’t Oppress My People With Your Branded Headphones
More intellectual life at Dartmouth College, New Hampshire:
“Fuck you, you filthy white fucks!” “Fuck you and your comfort!” “Fuck you, you racist shits!” These shouted epithets were the first indication that many students had of the coming storm. The sign-wielding, obscenity-shouting protesters proceeded through the usually quiet backwaters of the library… and converged around fellow students who had not joined in their long march. They confronted students who bore “symbols of oppression” such as “gangster hats” and Beats-brand headphones.
The flood of demonstrators opened the doors of study spaces with students reviewing for exams. Those who tried to close their doors were harassed further. One student abandoned the study room and ran out of the library. The protesters followed her out of the library, shouting obscenities the whole way. Students who refused to join their outbursts were shouted down: “Stand the fuck up!” “You filthy racist white piece of shit!” Men and women alike were pushed and shoved by the group. “If we can’t have it, shut it down!” they cried. Another woman was pinned to a wall by protesters who unleashed their insults, shouting “filthy white bitch!” in her face.
Vain little monsters projecting their own vices and relishing the sensation of power over others.
Update, via the comments:
Naked malice aside, there’s an almost surreal aspect to consider. The so-called “activists” claim to be besieged by unseen forces and “oppressed” by “structural racism on campus” – a phenomenon they can’t point to or even define convincingly – and yet their own behaviour illustrates the perversity of this pretence. Those acting out their psychodrama clearly assume they can do so with impunity, with no apparent fear of expulsion or reprimand, or physical resistance. And were the tribal roles reversed and a white mob were harassing women, shoving students with browner skin, and screaming racial epithets, the institutional response would doubtless be very, very different.
Even this supporter of the movement, a student who frets about his own “white privilege,” was appalled by the mob’s behaviour:
They kept shouting and started banging on tables. They demanded that people stand up to show their solidarity. Those who did not stand were targeted and questioned. There was a girl studying in one of the study rooms… and the protestors stormed the room. She closed the door on one of the protestors which resulted in rage from many protestors. The girl then exited silently through the crowd while protestors screamed at her calling her a white bitch. At one point the protestors crowded around a guy sitting at his laptop and stared at him, screaming at him, ‘If we can’t study, you can’t study.”
And,
After making a girl cry, a protestor screamed “Fuck your white tears.”
Don’t you just love that Maoist vindictiveness? It’s what utopia is made of.
Update 2, via Spiny Norman in the comments, the narcissistic psychodrama reaches level 2:
Dartmouth College has responded to intensely negative national media coverage over a Black Lives Matter protest that harassed white students by issuing an apology, not to the students who were harassed, but instead to the protesters themselves for being subject to conservative criticism… During a Monday night community discussion at the school’s black affinity dormitory, vice provost for student affairs Inge-Lise Ameer apologised to protesters for the hostile coverage their protest received. “There’s a whole conservative world out there that’s not being very nice,” Ameer said to the protesters.
And,
College president Phil Hanlon sent out a campus-wide email that affirmed the importance of treating people with “dignity and respect” but made no mention of the Thursday protest that obviously prompted it.
As I said, impunity.
Update 3:
Those with a taste for ludicrous emotional theatre may enjoy this video, in which Dartmouth’s vice provost for student affairs apologises to the gathered “activists” for the unflattering media coverage of their racist thuggery. Thuggery that, she insists, was “a wonderful, beautiful thing.” Her dismissal of critics as “conservatives,” and therefore the enemy, prompts animated applause, spurring one of the students to shout, “They’re fucking racists!” By which he means, people who drew attention to the students’ own overtly racist behaviour. Such is the effrontery of it, the colossal vanity. An inversion of reality actively encouraged, structurally encouraged, by so-called educators. This is what happens when your Designated Victim Group is a protected class.
There are plenty of people in this world who can rightly be called oppressed, some horrifically so. And none of them are spending $60,000 a year to piss about on an Ivy League campus, while bemoaning the trauma of seeing white people wearing fashionable headphones.
Update 4:
Just in case any doubt remains.
“Let’s give a round of applause for the beautiful people of colour who were here for this protest.”
“You filthy racist white piece of shit!”
I couldn’t cut it as a ‘progressive’. I couldn’t handle the cognitive dissonance.
I couldn’t handle the cognitive dissonance.
Well, no. It would be quite a task. And all that competitive posturing must be exhausting. Thankfully, narcissists aren’t generally known for their self-awareness, a lack of which leaves lots of scope for even quite vivid self-contradiction.
Words are violence, but pushing and shoving people isn’t.
Isn’t doublethink wonderful?
The white people being screamed at and shoved about should sue the university for creating ‘a hostile environment’. Sauce for the goose.
This is really starting to look like it crosses the line into criminal behavior. At least a good dose of pepper spray should be justifiable to make such thugs bugger off.
In no way related to the above:
From this, by Eliot A Cohen, on tantrums, hysteria and spinelessness.
Another woman was pinned to a wall by protesters who unleashed their insults, shouting “filthy white bitch!” in her face.
The message I’m getting from this ‘protest’ is we should go back to racially segregated colleges. That’s what they were going for, isn’t it?
Ah, the joy of being a part of a lawless mob who’s members can’t be held individually accountable. The rightness of harassing those who are too selfish to support your cause. After all, the movement is everything; life outside the movement is privilege and therefore an assault.
Ah, the joy of being a part of a lawless mob whose members can’t be held individually accountable.
Well, it’ll be interesting to see whether any of the disruption, abuse and thuggery results in suspensions or expulsions. Though I suspect not. And I’d imagine quite a few of the ‘protestors’ assume their impunity too. There’s also the fact that some faculty and staff are either sympathetic to, or titillated by, pseudo-radical vanity. Note the participation of an undergraduate advisor. The rest may simply be frightened of reprimanding thugs with black skin – which, for some, is practically taboo, even in cases of brutal and unprovoked assault – and thereby risking escalation and more bad press. This is a consequence of creating a Designated Victim Group, a protected class. It’s a license for bad behaviour and opportunist thuggery.
As any parent should know.
“The message I’m getting from this ‘protest’ is we should go back to racially segregated colleges. That’s what they were going for, isn’t it?”
Well just as long as Whitey McRacist is paying for everything presumably.
So they’re “fighting racism” by shoving white students around and calling them “filthy white bitches”? Imagine how quickly you’d get expelled if the roles were reversed.
Fascists
The truth that must not be spoken: A lot of black Americans are viciously racist.
“Fuck you and your comfort!”
Says the upper-middle class student whose parents can afford $60,000 a year for the Ivy League tuition of their little princess.
There is just so much potential profit here to harvest by skilled litigation lawyers, I surprised the fee-chasing sharks haven’t been circling these campus assault events.
I think this will stop when some universities are sued for not providing security from physical assault and slander.
And here’s an ethnic variation on the mindset above. Do click through the screengrabs.
They confronted students who bore “symbols of oppression” such as “gangster hats” and Beats-brand headphones
Eh? Blacks are confronting white students for wearing gangsta symbols of oppression? How does that work?
Well, as a tune it’s undeniably catchy, but the chorus does go on a bit.
Meanwhile, on this side of the Atlantic an event at the University of York, planned to coincide with International Men’s Day this week, that was to have advertised “the availability of mental health and welfare support which we know men are sometimes reluctant to access” has been cancelled because:
The Equality and Diversity Committee is clear that the main focus of gender equality work should continue to be on the inequalities faced by women, and in particular the under-representation of women in the professoriate and senior management.
In it’s place, they believe that “meaningful progress” can be made by “putting in place new structures to extend and strengthen our approach to the Athena Swan awards, which provide a framework for our work on gender equality.”
Jess Phillips MP would be proud.
Gangster hat.
No?
Beats studying. Probably earned them an “A” in their various grievance courses, and all they had to do was rough up a few whiteys.
Came across a phrase (apologies if it was from here) t’other day: cry-bullies.
That’s what we have now: a lot of crying (and wailing) and a great deal of bullying. But I am with those who think that if whites are so unquestionably evil then black people should not be tainted with their presence, so therefore segregation is the only way to go. The blacks will not feel oppressed if there are no nasty white around wearing hats and headphones — not, I would have thought, great when studying, but I am old-fashioned — but we must protect them with large safe zones where the black folk are free to flower and grow and be happy away from white bitches. Especially any who applaud them.
Is Archimedes Plutonium still at Dartmouth?
Time for other students to start carrying, and using, firearms.
I cannot confirm rumours that Archie recently stormed into the Boston Public Library protesting discrimination against geniuses with plutonium atoms at the centre of their brains.
“Beats studying.” (by Burnsie @ 15:50)
Is that done with Beats-brand headphones? 🙂
It’s obviously a “win-win” situation for them. They know the powers that be at Dartmouth will not discipline them nor will they be criminally charged. They also know that if one of the students they choose to assault attempts to fight back, the university will ignore all common sense notions of self-defense and destroy the true victim of the assault in favor of the faux victims attending an Ivy League school where tuition is a little less than $62,000 per year.
Apparently (I can’t confirm this) in a similar vein quite a few of the occupied (although somehow entirely governed, defended and policed by Hamas) Palestinians in Gaza are a little bit prejudiced against Jews.
They confronted students who bore “symbols of oppression” such as “gangster hats” and Beats-brand headphones

It’s not that it works, it’s that what you’ve got is hipsters vs hipsters with students getting caught in the middle . . . .

The students stopped playing Frisbee and left the area.[/i]

Not really helping their argument that criminal black men get shot unfairly.
Not really helping their argument
It is quite bizarre. The opportunist thugs pretend to be “oppressed” by “structural racism on campus” – a phenomenon they can’t point to or even define convincingly – and yet their own behaviour illustrates the perversity of their claim. The so-called ‘protestors’ clearly assume they can act with impunity, with no apparent fear of expulsion or reprimand, and were the roles reversed and a white mob were harassing and shoving students with browner skin, screaming racial epithets, the response would doubtless be very, very different.

All of that.
All of that.
Well, it’s strange when what you’re presented with is a near-total inversion of reality. The well-heeled “protestors” are in no meaningful sense “oppressed” by “structural racism on campus” (to say nothing of the supposedly distressing sight of white people wearing fashionable headphones). In fact, they’re quite the opposite. They’re a Designated Victim Group, i.e., a protected class, to which special favours are frequently extended, from preferential admissions policies (including at Dartmouth and equivalent to at least 15 IQ points) to preferential treatment following classroom misbehaviour. All sanctioned by the state – and how “structural” is that?
Apparently, this favouritism now includes a unilateral license to indulge in racial bullying.
Gangster Hat: band name
There will come a point at which even the Dartmouth-esque cowed wimps will stop putting up with this. Then a “protestor” will get hurt.
Then a “protestor” will get hurt.
All it will take is one well-thrown punch and this crap will stop. And the nice thing, given the SWJs narcissistic penchant for self-promotion, their own video evidence will suffice to prove they were the aggressors.
May I attempt some explanations?
Fuck you are your comfort: Whites have, by and large, comfortable, peaceful, prosperous lives, while the rest of world lives in struggle, squalor and misery. What explains this inequity? It cannot be that whites have earned their comforts, just as the rest deserve their squalor. How do we know? Because equality! This means that the price of white prosperity must be the oppression of those they “other” [pardon the expression]. Remedy? Agitate! Take their comforts, money, power and status, and redistribute it the oppressed. How? Community organization.
What we are witnessing is Alinsky community organizing come to the universities. See Organizing for America.
If we can’t have it, shut it down: The university confers wealth, power and status on those who succeed in it. But it confers those social goods unequally. Historically, whites do much better than blacks at university. But equality tells us that this outcome can occur only through oppression. The standards used by universities must therefore be designed to favor whites over others, just as so-called “justice” favors whites over others: see the racial disparities in the prisons. So, the university is an instrument of oppression. Remedy? Agitate! Burn the universities and their books; destroy their standards of intellectual excellence. Replace them with institutions that favor the oppressed over the oppressor. Repeat until equality is achieved.
For example, create a popular culture in which the oppressed excel, to the almost total exclusion of others. See Gangster Rap, and the NBA.
The so-called ‘protestors’ clearly assume they can act with impunity.
Isn’t that exactly what one would expect with the Agitator in Chief in the White House?
It’s the effrontery of it, the colossal vanity. There are plenty of people in this world who can rightly be called oppressed, some horrifically so – and none of them are spending $60,000 a year to piss about on an Ivy League campus.
The opportunist thugs pretend to be “oppressed” by “structural racism on campus” – a phenomenon they can’t point to or even define convincingly – and yet their own behaviour illustrates the perversity of their claim.
“Can’t point to”? The equality premise(TM) says that all men are equal. Any inequality is therefore proof positive of some injustice, some oppression of one group by another. What more could one want by way of proof?
Their “thuggish” behavior, they would say, is necessarily brutal because all you white-privileged folk don’t want to give up you wealth, power, and status. So, they have to “bring a gun to the knife fight” until they get all their stuff back! This is community organizing 101. They learned it from the Community Organizer in Chief: see Organizing for America.
“oppressed by “structural racism” = Admitted only due to racial quota system. Constantly aware of being academically inferior. Cannot accept responsibility. Has to find scapegoat. Finds personal fulfillment in a fascistic ideology of racial grievance.
@Nick
And of course, they rely on the good will and etiquette of the “oppressor” in order to achieve their ends. Note that the only “objection” to the behavior consisted of students attempting to leave to study in peace. Had some of the students, who, along with their parents, were borrowing the money to obtain an Ivy League education decided to fight back, the outcome might have been different.
Of course, fighting back is what the Alinsky acolytes want as it will be taken as proof of their thesis. So be it. The alternative is an educational system that more resembles the Cultural Revolution than education in the classic Western sense.
It’s the effrontery of it:
Right. The SJ enterprise is a dishonest attempt to legalize theft and thuggery. It’s a slightly more sophisticated way for some to vote themselves a share of other people’s goods. It’s also quicker than waiting for sclerotic governments to invent new forms of handouts.
With so few protesters and such marvelous technology available to quickly mobilize a response, I’m shocked that the old school solution from back in the day hasn’t yet been activated. With a half dozen texts / tweets quickly shared, any university/college could have a dozen frat houses each send a dozen high-testosterone young guys (plus the every white male student athlete on campus) to the location of any such “protest” and they would eagerly with great relish beat the living snot outta these uncouth animals! It would only take 2 or 3 epic beat-downs lasting less than 5 minutes per episode to send these professional $#!t disturbers running for their lives. There’s nothing like a black eye, a split lip, and a couple of loose teeth to quickly snuff out one’s willingness to stir the pot for a bogus bull$#!t cause … whose “supporters” are almost definitely paid by a Soros front.
… have a dozen frat houses each send a dozen high-testosterone young guys … [to} … beat the living snot outta these uncouth animals!
Well, once upon a time that was how gentlemen dealt with miscreants. Now it would land you in jail with a life-long criminal record. The community-organizing thugs have mau-maued the flak-catchers in the administration into writing speech codes that criminalize civil opposition to them. And Obama and his race-hustling gangsters have legitimized violent “protests”. See Ferguson and Baltimore; and see the DOJ occupation of police forces around the country designed to prevent the police from enforcing the laws against black criminals.
“Note that the only “objection” to the behavior consisted of students attempting to leave to study in peace.”
“You will be forced to accept our juvenile, aggressive, self-serving haranguing under threat of further haranguing. Or worse.”
Davers6, I expect frats fear terrible terrible lawsuits if they do that. And even if you can beat the rap, as they say, you can’t beat the ride. Being the subject of media firestorms and having the President talk about how frat is a bunch of violent racist thugs could be a lot worse than having a mob mobbing in your library, charges of assault and conspiracy notwithstanding.
it’s strange when what you’re presented with is a near-total inversion of reality.
#BlackLiesMatter.
Hey kids, come to Dartmouth College, where “social justice” claptrap gets shoehorned into everything.
They kept shouting and started banging on tables. They demanded that people stand up to show their solidarity. Those who did not stand were targeted and questioned.
Reminds me of –
At the conclusion of the conference, a tribute to Comrade Stalin was called for. Of course, everyone stood up (just as everyone had leaped to his feet during the conference at every mention of his name). … For three minutes, four minutes, five minutes, the stormy applause, rising to an ovation, continued. But palms were getting sore and raised arms were already aching. And the older people were panting from exhaustion. It was becoming insufferably silly even to those who really adored Stalin.
However, who would dare to be the first to stop? … After all, NKVD men were standing in the hall applauding and watching to see who would quit first! And in the obscure, small hall, unknown to the leader, the applause went on – six, seven, eight minutes! They were done for! Their goose was cooked! They couldn’t stop now till they collapsed with heart attacks! At the rear of the hall, which was crowded, they could of course cheat a bit, clap less frequently, less vigorously, not so eagerly – but up there with the presidium where everyone could see them?
The director of the local paper factory, an independent and strong-minded man, stood with the presidium. Aware of all the falsity and all the impossibility of the situation, he still kept on applauding! Nine minutes! Ten! In anguish he watched the secretary of the District Party Committee, but the latter dared not stop. Insanity! To the last man! With make-believe enthusiasm on their faces, looking at each other with faint hope, the district leaders were just going to go on and on applauding till they fell where they stood, till they were carried out of the hall on stretchers! And even then those who were left would not falter…
Then, after eleven minutes, the director of the paper factory assumed a businesslike expression and sat down in his seat. And, oh, a miracle took place! Where had the universal, uninhibited, indescribable enthusiasm gone? To a man, everyone else stopped dead and sat down. They had been saved!
The squirrel had been smart enough to jump off his revolving wheel. That, however, was how they discovered who the independent people were. And that was how they went about eliminating them. That same night the factory director was arrested. They easily pasted ten years on him on the pretext of something quite different. But after he had signed Form 206, the final document of the interrogation, his interrogator reminded him:
“Don’t ever be the first to stop applauding.”
The so-called ‘protestors’ clearly assume they can act with impunity.
Isn’t that exactly what one would expect with the Agitator in Chief in the White House?
Hmmm? Well, there would have to first be an “Agitator in Chief in the White House” in the first place, wouldn’t there. Lessee . . . . do some extremely minor Googlemancy, and thus very easily find Obama rules out Syria ground invasion in passionate defence of Isis strategy and also Obama says ground troops to fight ISIS would be a mistake and also again Obama: Would be a ‘mistake’ to send troops to Syria . . . .
Sooo, rather apparently what we still have the the extremely conservative President Obama continuing to be the extremely conservative president . . . After all, as we all remember, getting dragged back into Iraq was entirely right wing priaprism, and definitely not a conservative decision . . . .
Reminds me of –

Errr, no. Definitely not Alinsky, these idiots are just common narcissistic hipsters.—I’d be extremely shocked if any hipster had even ever heard of Alinsky, that requires actually reading something . . .
To grab one handy reference, out of masses of information available . . . .

Well, again, no. The problem with sending proven uncouth animals against other uncouth animals is the simple fact of watching both sets of useless hipster idiots subsequently rampaging at will against the actual students and Uni. The further fiasco of the subsequent riots and other assaults is guaranteed because at that point any such set of uncouth animals will have been openly licensed to do so.
What an excellent way to get tolerant, reasonable-minded white people to fear, loathe and distrust black people.
Surely, this sort of thing can’t go on forever, can it? I mean, something has to give eventually, doesn’t it?
Well, it’ll be interesting to see whether any of the disruption, abuse and thuggery results in suspensions or expulsions.
Sooo, start with the video, which I haven’t watched, but then I’m not part of the Dartmouth campus security and administration. Next, move to the Dartmouth Community Standards of Conduct which state, among other things,
Sooo, as I understand it, there do seem to be very solid grounds for said Dartmouth campus security and administration to very pointedly start very definite proceedings . . . or, if there is such a concern about alleged safe spaces, perhaps they could explain in detail why the campus would seem to be one large unsafe vacuum.
What an excellent way to get tolerant, reasonable-minded white people to fear, loathe and distrust black people.
Ehn. Given what actions are described, “white” people and “black” people may not be the issue . . .
I’ll just leave this here:
Dartmouth College has responded to intensely negative national media coverage over a Black Lives Matter protest that harassed white students by issuing an apology, not to the students who were harassed, but instead to the protesters themselves for being subject to conservative criticism.
“Dartmouth College apologizes to black protesters who made racist remarks to white students because of Conservative media” at backlashhttp://www.therebel.media/dartmouth_college_apologizes_to_black_protesters_who_shouted_racist_chants_at_students_because_of_conservative_media_response
There was this bumper sticker (dunno if it’s an urban myth or not) supposedly from the South along the lines of “We should have picked our own damned cotton”.
Wonder where I could find one?
Dartmouth College has responded to intensely negative national media coverage over a Black Lives Matter protest that harassed white students by issuing an apology, not to the students who were harassed, but instead to the protesters themselves for being subject to conservative criticism.
Thanks. Post updated.
“There’s a whole conservative world out there that’s not being very nice,” Ameer said to the protesters.
Note the implication that if you object to mob harassment, thuggish disruption and people being intimidated with threatening behaviour and screamed racial epithets, then you must be “conservative,” and therefore the enemy. Again, the Clown Quarter of academia is the left’s fiefdom. It’s where leftist psychology is most concentrated, where it flourishes largely unopposed and free of the normal consequences, and where it’s made normative and institutional.
And behold the results.

Maybe they are just upset because they blew between $200 and $1200 for $29 headphones.
“Apparently, this favouritism now includes a unilateral license to indulge in racial bullying.”
Funny you should mention that. Michael Brown’s final moments began with the “racial bullying” of a much smaller Pakistani shop clerk, when he helped himself to cigars and threatened the clerk with violence if he tried to stop him.
Insofar as Brown’s demise gave rise to BLM, the seed doesn’t fall far from the tree, does it?

From then on, things become even more narcissistic and delusional.
These, then, are the lofty thinkers at one of the most expensive and prestigious universities in the world.

You have to understand the context. All that old stuff to the Red Guards and Mao represented and justified archaic feudal ideology. They wanted to get rid of it to change the national consciousness and attain revolutionary consciousness. I’m not saying it was right: I’m just saying that was the impetus.
Our education system has done a damn fine job educating the youth by putting into perspective the bias of us archaic and narrow-minded folk. ‘Cause, you know, impetus and shit.

http://www.campusreform.org/?ID=7006
Meanwhile – hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahaha!
Even this supporter of the movement, a student who frets about his own “white privilege,” was appalled by the mob’s behaviour
He fed the wolf hoping it wouldn’t eat him. The stage he gave in at was the soft one, that of the tactics of “pull”; manipulation of emotions such as pity and sympathy, and his own desire for inclusion and acceptance. Now he is shocked at the first sign of what big teeth it has, the tactics of “push”; more naked forms of coercion from the predator he empowered.
What that predator wanted from him never changed. Violence, to this species of mimic, is not about putting down a dangerous animal in order to protect the lives or liberty of oneself or others. It is instead simply the ultimate and final form of emotional manipulation. The predator and its tactics were always about seeking his willing humiliation, and consuming everything he had that it could take from him.
Apparently, the well of racialist psychodrama is infinitely deep:
This kind of wretched, self-dramatizing theatre can be funny, at least until you realise that these creatures will leave university expecting to occupy positions of influence.
Students calling themselves “Oxy United for Black Liberation” at Occidental College have demanded “physicians of colour” to treat “emotional trauma associated with issues of identity.”
I nominate Ben Carson, M.D. As I understand it, he’s quite the accomplished pediatric neurosurgeon, so he’s probably good with immature children.
This is obviously not meant to garner sympathy or support. Certainly no one studying in that library was won over. It’s a blatant attempt to provoke a reaction. They probably won’t get one, though. These students are smart enough to know in whose favor the deck is stacked.

so he’s probably good with immature children.
Yeah, but I doubt that experience is really applicable. Dealing with the kind of immaturity a young child has is light years away from this nonsense. Children are self-centered by nature. These grown crybullies are of a more synthetic immaturity. A stupidity that takes years of training in ignorance and responsibility avoidance to acquire, usually at the cost of tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars of your and my money. I give you an example of a recent exchange I had on this subject with an (assumed) college student over at Mediaite when I pointed out that since tax payers fund these institutions, they thus have a say in how their money is spent:
You can’t argue with logic like that. End of story.
That.
Well, it’s interesting just how quickly the loutish students have learned their “activist” skillset, and all the necessary dishonesties that go with it. They seem quite adept at rationalising their thuggery (while denying it ever happened) and inverting reality with breath-taking arrogance. All with the complicity of the people paid to educate them. They may not be good at logic or spotting even the most glaring contradiction, but the rhetoric of grievance and entitlement, and the psychology of entitlement – that, they’ve mastered.
As Franklin noted recently, the ideology of identitarian “privilege” – which the opportunist thugs use as an excuse – assumes that “white” culture is open source, something to embrace and adapt as suits a person’s fancy, while all minority culture is somehow exclusive and proprietary. And any unauthorised embrace of it – even wearing supposedly “black” headphones – is a basis for indignation and a spot of bullying.
It’s not a worldview that lends itself to happiness or a benign disposition, or productive employment. But it is terribly fashionable.
“so he’s probably good with immature children.”
I imagine he’s qualified to swap a defective, malevolent brain for a functioning one. Is that what you meant?
Yeah, but I doubt that experience is really applicable.
Well, there are always lobotomies.
As for your interlocutor on Mediaite, to quote P.J. O’Rourke, “What the fuck!?! I mean, ‘What the fucking fuck!?!'”
A state run university is no more subsidized than Exxon or Bank of America.
So then, the calls for more public funding are what, precisely?
Neither pay any tax but they poison the earth.
Poison, is it? Nice to see you’re on the side of the conservatives who think, given recent events, that higher education is waste of resources and immoral to boot.
Once someone agrees to a contractual arrangement that includes security the onus is on the supplier to provide the requisite protection.
Point of order: What does “security” mean? Not having bad “feelz?” And BTW, the case law is quite clear. Police have no duty to specifically protect anyone from harm. Look it up.
This is tort law.
No, it’s not. See the proceeding paragraph. Also, you’ve already asserted that there is a contract. Stay with me here. That’s “Contract Law,” not “Tort Law.”
When laws are not enforced by the agency charged with the responsibility of providing the protection they risk accepting liability for any negligence.
No they don’t. See above, again. Also, what are these “laws” of which you speak? Do those include, for example, the First Amendment?
All with the complicity of the people paid to educate them. They may not be good at logic or spotting even the most glaring contradiction, but the rhetoric of grievance and entitlement, and the psychology of entitlement – that, they’ve mastered.
I wouldn’t call it complicity. The people paid to educate them educated them in precisely this manner. Maybe not all, but in the growing Clown Quarter, most. This kind of stupid doesn’t appear in nature. It is synthetically generated, refined, and concentrated thanks to “educational” subsidies.

It must be quite odd to be a parent who’s spent a fortune having their child educated at a statusful establishment, only to have them emerge more obstinately dense than they when they set off.
It must be quite odd to be a parent who’s spent a fortune having their child educated at a statusful establishmen
Well in the context of the Ivy League schools and such, I lack the time to do the research, but I suspect a good number of those parents are 2nd and 3rd generation wealth. Trust fund children raising trust fund children. And then you have the trophy wives that married a productive rich man and for reasons typical of divorce and the very nature of such ho-dom, get custody of the kiddies and raise them to be leaches as well. All abetted by a good dose of leftist psychology that is rampant and readily available in such upper echelons. And then you have those backing the loans that support the rest of the system. Those being us sucker tax payers who have been fed the BS that higher education pays for itself without regard to what that education money was spent learning.
And then of course are the massive endowments Yale and Harvard and I presume the others have. This was money left by people now dead who thought they were doing a good thing to enlighten the world only to have their wealth hijacked to undermine the very system that made that wealth possible.
Of course, much speculation on my part. But trial and error in the real world has led me to trust my speculation over much of the blather that comes across from academics, supposed statisticians, and “smart” news guys like Tom Friedman, etc.
Lawsuits and more lawsuits. The campus is not some offshore territory where US laws do not apply. Bring suits against the perpetrators, for assault and false imprisonment, as well as suits filed against the University for promoting racial violence.
You may yearn to be a part of the mob, but you will be indicted as an individual.
I can only hope that some of the students who have been attacked are the progeny of lawyers who must be seething right now.
Fuel Filter – although it’s been a good twenty years since I saw one, I can confirm that the bumper sticker you’re asking about did exist. The version I saw said (IIRC) “If I’d have known it would be this much trouble, I’d have picked my own cotton”. Generally sold by the same guys who sold Camo Condoms (tagline: “Don’t let them see you coming”) and the classic “Die Jane Fonda Commie traitor bitch” and “My gun has killed fewer people than Ted Kennedy’s car” stickers.
Devilbunny, you’re forgetting my favorite 70’s classic bumper sticker:
“Support women’s lib. Make her sleep in the wet spot.”
I fondly remember being about 9 or 10 years old and asking my father what that meant. I don’t remember much after that, however. And I recently had one made up for my truck, taken from a poster I had seen as a kid, showing a picture of Archie Bunker that reads “Deep down, you know he was right.” I’ve got a few extra copies if anyone is interested.
[SHOUTING] “Do you think that black lives matter?”
[RESPONSE] “Why don’t you fuck off, you racist…”
