First reply – “Vote differently”
That.
For some reason, I was reminded of Jurassic Park.
It also reminded of the time, a few years ago, when the Other Half and I, and a friend, were parked at the coast – Whitby, I think – chatting merrily and about to tuck into a tube of Pringles. Suddenly, an enormous seagull landed on the car and peered intently through the windscreen, clearly intrigued by said tube of Pringles. When you see a seagull close up – say, mere inches away – they can be a little more imposing than previously assumed.
The three of us sat there for some time, laughing quite a lot, but trying not to move.
A tragic detrans thread.
When you park the car in Portland.
Zombies are real.
Not an unfair point.
He’s just like you, ladies.
“She/her.”
I don’t often find myself in agreement with hardline feminists, but when they say that women by and large would rather not share their bathrooms and changing rooms with mentally ill men, many of whom seem to have anger-management issues, it’s hard to demur.
What mental health crisis?
The thing to do these days is not to go to Portland.
I am presuming that it’s the one in the USA, and not in Dorset, England – where I do believe some normal-humans still exist and even live.
The other thing to do, and urgently, is for all normal-Americans to set about arresting all politicians whose social-media accounts are currently listing them as of the “democrat” party, and placing them in orange jumpsuits in exciting places where they can meet those men which execute the logical conclusions of their trumpeted political objectives.
A tragic detrans thread.
Fuck everyone who let this happen.
There’s only one person to blame, buddy.
What mental health crisis?
Not just the mental health of the druggies and “homeless”. Also the leftist and “liberals” who created the problem.
There’s only one person to blame, buddy.
Yes, he made a bad decision, but it was based on bad info. Complicit are all the people pushing this crap who supported him in his delusion, the NHS who perform “genital reassignment” surgery (get in line for you hip, grandma), and anyone else who didn’t get him the real help he needed and fully explain and make him understand the ramifications of what he was wanting to do.
Meanwhile in Asgard…
I am presuming that it’s the one in the USA, and not in Dorset, England
And the one on the left coast in Oregon, not the slightly more sane one with milder substance abuse issues in Maine.
Also, what Farnsworth said.

Y’all do realize that these people and their fellow travelers outnumber us. Considerably, when you consider all the conservatives…”conservatives” who are made much more uncomfortable being around us than being around them?
When I saw “naked woman” and “portland” I knew better than to get my hopes up. Of course, hard drugs are legal there.
The detrans post is just so sad. He is right to be angry. Such surgery goes against the “first do no harm” oath docs are supposed to go by. The hormonal system is complicated and has lots of effects besides sexual desire. Screw it up at your peril.
Meanwhile in Asgard…
From the comments:
Why is black Asgard covered in graffiti?
Why does black Thor wear Jordans?…
Clearly they want us to know that authentic black culture is ghetto culture. I wonder what other aspects of ghetto culture could be proudly displayed for our enjoyment.
…White people don’t get to have anything, apparently. All traditional culture and history is erased or appropriated for the woke.”
Remember when black racist professors and cranks were claiming that the Greeks “stole” their philosophy from black Egyptians? Never mind for the moment that the claim itself was fraudulent–a racist lie. Consider the black reaction when Greeks (and whites in general) objected to this appropriation of their history: Blacks called them “racist” and said that blacks were entitled to feel “proud” about something. Well, why shouldn’t Greeks have a right to be proud of the real achievements of their real ancestors? Apparently only blacks are entitled to be proud, and are entitled to be proud of things their fake ancestors never did.
A tragic detrans thread.
It’s not unlike telling an anorexic person that yes, they do look really fat and should starve themselves even more. Because, hey, we must affirm and celebrate wildly distorted perceptions.
BTW, PSA…If you’re on an iPad and have been constantly prompted to upgrade to IOS 15.5 for a couple weeks now and you’re tempted to give in, don’t. It’s just…just…f*$=&(//+$**=++==.
Right. Let us know how that Pap smear turns out Eddie.
Right. Let us know how that Pap smear turns out Eddie.
Was Eddie Izzard always far-left? I used to know some “conservatives” who liked him, but I no longer trust what they say.
In case anyone missed Farnsworth’s reference, the brit NHS is requiring doctors to give pap smears to XY “women” who don’t have a cervix or uterus, but not give them prostate exams. Glad I’m not a doc there.
It’s not unlike telling an anorexic person that yes, they do look really fat and should starve themselves even more. Because, hey, we must affirm and celebrate wildly distorted perceptions.
This, a thousand times this. To which I will add: and performing gastric sleeve surgery them, to cure them of their fatness.
Yes, he made a bad decision, but it was based on bad info.
Sure but ultimately it was his/her/its signature on the consent forms.
If someone wishes they were blind, should docs blind them? If they have an amputee fetish, should they amputate? Anorexia was mentioned. The morbidly obese want to be celebrated, so do we give them food supplements? If there is no longer a sense of “normal” then this is the slippery slope we are on.
Sure but ultimately it was his/her/its signature on the consent forms.
As I keep pointing out, and as many, many detransitioners confirm, these people are mentally ill, often because of severe childhood sexual abuse. They are not in any meaningful way competent to make these kinds of permanent life-altering decisions.
As I keep pointing out, and as many, many detransitioners confirm, these people are mentally ill…
Unfortunately, they are surrounded by false friends intent on using them for evil purposes.
In the Eighth Circle of Dante’s Inferno can be found the evil counsellors.
As I keep pointing out, and as many, many detransitioners confirm, these people are mentally ill,
But affirming the delusions of mentally ill people and then giving those mentally ill people drugs that will induce premature osteoporosis and other debilitating conditions and encouraging them to undergo grotesque surgical mutilations, which entail serious and permanent nerve damage, loss of sexual function, incontinence, very often chronic pain, and not uncommonly, a lingering stench of necrotic tissue… all of this is something to celebrate, apparently.
Oh, how we laughed at the jollity of it all.
We are at the point where pointing out the consequences of things makes you a bad person rather than a hero because there are no adults anymore and we must affirm the childish wishes of our betters. Could it be that:
Shutting down drilling will raise gas prices?
Surgery and hormones for children or mental ill will cause horrific problems?
Printing tons of money will cause inflation?
Well, we can no longer reason it out. We must instead try all the insane things and swing wildly back and forth with policy. We now have 8% inflation (more I think) in the US because no adults were available. We have thousands of kids (I repeat kids) getting permanent surgery and hormones because we must indulge crazy parents. There is some swing back on law enforcement after all the progressive retail experiences. But it is after stores closed and people died.
We are at the point where pointing out the consequences of things makes you a bad person
In other words, we are “anti-soviet conspirators”. See this book which is still in print.
Sure but ultimately it was his/her/its signature on the consent forms.
Once upon a time I got in trouble because I refused to witness a consent form on a patient with severe mental disability who the chief resident scared the crap out of with a lurid explanation of what would happen if he didn’t sign. The guy signed, somebody else witnessed, but the guy had no clue what he was signing. Of course a judge without ever having seen the guy had deemed him competent, even though he could barely write his name.
None of us know how smart the detrans guy in question is, or what exactly he was told, but I doubt that all the possible complications were explained, because they are still not fully known. Was he told that the proximal remnants of the corpus cavernosa could still get erections or that the rerouting of the urethra could lead to incontinece? If he had a piece of the colon used for the vaginoplasty, was the function of the crypts of Lieberkuhn explained?
They are not in any meaningful way competent…they are surrounded by false friends…
Even if we assume that everything was explained, were the surgeons, shrinks, and his “buddies” all telling him, like the pediatrician in the Walsh video, that this was the panacea for his mental discomfort in which case he might sign anything? Many such cases where people will sign anything to make something stop hurting, this is no different.
There’s only one person to blame, buddy.
Not quite. When a person with cognitive issues is taken advantage of, the other people share most/all of the blame.
From the stories I’ve read from detrans/desisters these were people with easy-to-id severe mental issues making them vulnerable to any snakeoil salesman offering a “cure.” And in this new medically-supported “fad”, family/friend members who try to intervene to keep the person from following through are the ones who risk their jobs, reputations, child custody and even jail time.
My stepson is trans. In my US state, saying so was enough to get him started on drugs. No counseling. No questions so far as I know. He was a few years over 21 so no parental consent needed. I was shocked at how quickly it happened.
We still keep in touch. Whether as a result of the drugs or a couple of car accidents or bad genes (all are possible, he was also diagnosed ADD and had been on ritalin for years), he has a joint-weakening disease. He’s able to walk, but he uses a wheelchair, and chances are he won’t live much past 30. He seems happy and he’s living with a supportive group (also trans). So far as I know, he hadn’t undergone the surgery.
There’s nothing prideful about this, and naturally we can’t say anything about it.
Even if we assume that everything was explained, were the surgeons, shrinks, and his “buddies” all telling him, like the pediatrician in the Walsh video, that this was the panacea for his mental discomfort in which case he might sign anything?
The readiness of smart educated people to embrace faddish delusions. Folie à deux millions.
Sure but ultimately it was his/her/its signature on the consent forms.
This is the problem, however. As Farnsworth says, his mental state is, by the very nature of the problem, severely impaired. Were he paying for these operations himself it is likely he would be less inclined to go through with it. Not just the cost, but the full mental process of making such a truly irreversible, life changing decision.
But even then, the incentives are clearly there for all of the more rational (?) people involved to go along with this idiocy. For this guy, this is likely the only decision remotely like this that he has to deal with. All these other “experts” have tremendously more experience and “education” on the matter. Where would a person in his position turn to? Is he capable of getting outside of his warped frame of reference when even many of the butcher “experts” who will cut him up have failed to do so? That’s assuming said butchers are not ALL sociopaths. I mean what would be the odds? Don’t answer that…The reality of the participation of these “experts” is the more important thing to be addressed.
Dammit…diluted my point in the first paragraph…If he had to come up with the money (unlikely to happen in full) or appeal to others who might help him financially, or even provide him extra employment or such to pay for it, that process would bring him into contact with people with skin in the game. Either first hand or in a “Glad to get you more work but what is this extra effort for?” sense.
Worth reading.
To the points above:

For another example, check the history of lobotomies for mental illness. Severe side effects. Naysayers ignored.
Lobotomy for severe epilepsy is done only on one side of the brain and can save someone’s life–still iffy.
There’s nothing prideful about this, and naturally we can’t say anything about it.
You have my condolences. Although I bang on about the childhood sexual abuse etiology, I see a lot of ADD/”autistic” kids getting suckered into the trans thing as well. I see very few of them going through with surgery though.
Some more: lobotomies were performed on more than 20,000. Forced sterilization on “undesirables” on even more. So this trans thing is nothing new.
Sorry, those numbers for the US–even more if you add Europe.
lobotomies were performed on more than 20,000
Estimated up to 3X that, Freeman himself is reported to have done up to 5000. The original US Freeman-Watts procedure was done in an OR in controlled circumstances by genuine neurosurgeons, Freeman developed the “ice pick” method which became an office procedure done by shinks either in their offices or in institutions so an accurate number will never be known.
Other dubious treatments included insulin shock and malaria “treatment” (also used for syphilis – any type, not just neurosyphilis).
What was the “malaria” treatment? Please say it had something to do with gin & tonics.
Also, curious…did the reload timeout for comments get significantly shorter? I’m having to enter about 1/4 of my comments twice now.
What reload timeout? Don’t understand. I never see David’s pages automatically reload/refresh.
Page loads. Read through page. Time elapses. Put comment in and hit “Post”. Get error stating that the page no longer exists or whatever the message is when there may have been other comments in the meantime. Hit reload. No new comments. Enter comment, hit “Post”. No error.
This is not abnormal over an hour or so but I’m noticing it on 15- minute time frames or so.
Please say it had something to do with gin & tonics.
Alas, no. For syphilis, Treponema pallidum can only exist in a narrow temperature range, so inducing fever in the luckless SOB being treated would kill off and stop replication. For psychoses, which other fevers had been shown to cure, I don’t believe the mechanism of action was worked out, but it would be reasonable to assume it would be similar to a severe heat injury where ischemia, hypoxia, and inflammation could knock out what ever broken part of the brain was causing the psychosis.
Why malaria if any fever would do, this treatment started around the beginning of the 20th century and of the available infections, because quinine resistance was not a thing yet, it was the most easily treated.
Get error stating that the page no longer exists or whatever…”
Got it.
Delightful urban dining experience part 4799
Apparently the explorer Richard Burton had his syphilis cured by a bout of malaria.
Elsewhere in Portland:
Breezy.
Also breezy.
Underwear optional as well, it seems.
Underwear optional
She’s wearing a thong. You can see this if you look closely. Look closely you racist bigot. These people are not animals you know. Sheesh. Wypipo.
