A long way from Father Duffy of The Rainbow Division in the trenches, from a different rainbow group Isaac Simmons delivers a virtual sermon…
Well, OK, then. Never a guy with a net around when you need him.
Bull’s testicles and squid ink, and more map features.
Pst314, as you note, possibly an off the cuff bit, needing editing.
However, I read the publisher bio at Uma’s link, and…apparently Burke’s publisher also needs an editor.
For many years, my habit when browsing unfamiliar books in a library or store, was to open to a random page near the middle and read a paragraph or two. Writing like those examples cited encourages swift reshelving. And significant time-saving.
Also laughed at Burke’s bio description of her authorial range.
All the way from sex shifting dragons to … pastel challenged (?) urban sprites. She’s “done it all.”
Sounds like the fan fic my kid’s high school friends wrote.
Okay, just imagine for a moment that these weren’t blokes pretending to be women, but actual strippers and pole dancers.
It’s only a matter of time before we see lots of public declarations that it is “healthy” for very young children to be exposed to lap-dance clubs, massage parlors, and whatever you call those places where anonymous sex is obtained though holes in walls.
Pride Parades and the Pride festivals that follow…
Exposing children to this stuff is a particularly reprehensible perversion, but it is a special case of the more general perverted desire to throw their kinks into strangers’ faces. This reminds me of several gay men I have known casually who liked to leave kinky porn lying around their homes. So I am visiting to review some HOA financial documents and there are pornographic DVD’s on the living room floor. Or I’m visiting another home for some reason and extreme S&M bondage magazines are scattered on the coffee table. I suppose the men thought this was “empowering” but it persuaded me that they were somehow broken and best avoided.

That reminds me of an sf novel by gay NAMBLA member Samuel R. Delany which takes place on a planet inhabited by humans and dragon-like space aliens. In order to increase comity between the two species there is a program to facilitate brief anonymous sexual encounters between male humans and male dragons. I have been told that these places closely resemble the back rooms of gay bars and porno bookstores where some gay men troll for quick sex, places that Delany used to frequent daily. “Tell us you checked yourself out of the psychiatric hospital too soon, without telling us you checked yourself out too soon.”
“Do the French still routinely kiss each other on the cheek when they meet?”
As of 2011, yes. Emphatically yes. And the women would *not* take no for an answer.
Emphatically yes. And the women would *not* take no for an answer.
Women you were meeting for the first time? ?
French friend I’m staying with, apogetically : “They don’t do this in America.”
Random Frenchwoman I had just met : “Yeah, well, he’s in France now.”
Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise: Every kiss is a French kiss.
One of my perennial complaints: “It reeks of excess and over-the-top spectacle.”
“excess and over-the-top”: in the Transformers movies, they make the cgi of the robots impossible to focus on. The parts keep moving and changing, perhaps so you can’t notice flaws or perhaps incompetence.
I love the new proposed reparations bill in CA. Who is black? Can any black person move there and get free goodies? What about blacks whose ancestors owned slaves? And never mind the cost. clown show with our money

Some men just don’t pick up on flirting signals…
But thanks for helping me appreciate that at least with my HOA board I only have to deal with stupid people. Of course a couple are incredibly stupid. I don’t know…maybe we could consider a trade?

I read somewhere that the American population with the highest percentage of slaver ancestry is the black population.
In reading about the antics of SFWA, nowhere do I see the slightest hint that the organization exists to serve people in the business of writing science fiction. It seems to be more of a social club whose members have broken into factions. Which for all I know is what it was founded as and intended to be, but what about the business side? Maybe Larry Correia can start a trade association for science-fiction writers.

Indigenous people were right up there as well. They were equal opportunity slavers. They enslaved other indigenous peoples and they owned African slaves. The practice predated contact with the white man, but many of today’s historical apologists would have you believe that what went before wasn’t “real” slavery. They’ll tell you that the white man taught them real slavery. Uh huh. Noble savages indeed.

Enslavement of Africans by Europeans is the only enslavement for which anyone need feel any guilt. Everyone knows that.
Enslavement of Africans by Europeans is the only enslavement for which anyone need feel any guilt.
The FIRST person to ever ‘own a slave’ was a black man named Anthony Johnson, who came to America from Angola as an indentured servant. When he served his time and was released, he became wealthy and had his own indentured servants but didn’t want to let them go when that servitude expired, he sued in court to “own” a black man named John Casor, when Casor left him and was hired by a white man.
Some men just don’t pick up on flirting signals…
Heh. I suppose it’s not as annoying as dropping his pants like a San Franciscan.
Although in both cases there were woman visitors too.
They’ll tell you that the white man taught them real slavery.
And then there’s the highly intellectual black writer who assured me that all those reports from European explorers of cannibalism and human sacrifice among the natives were racist lies or else hoaxes told by natives to excite explorers eager to find such things: “oh, we don’t do that stuff but the people in the next valley do it all the time.” He made no attempt to even bother to explain away the first hand reports and actual substance of what explorers thought and expected, but instead shamelessly made up lies because he hated that any dark skinned people might have done such things.
he hated that any dark skinned people might have done such things.
Well, you have to understand that only Europeans are capable of evil. Everyone else lived idyllic lives of milk and honey until the evil Europeans turned up and forced non-white humans (and all other mammals and most other vertebrates) to divide into male and female instead of choosing their gender merely by wishing to. This terrible imposition on the mammalian world caused some mammals to become carnivorous and even taught the concepts of violence and property to non-white humans. So obviously no dark-skinned people could have engaged in cannibalism or human sacrifice.
It’s really quite straightforward.
They don’t even pretend it’s not grooming anymore.
Let me get this straight, as it were. Small children should be exposed to “adult content” and “public nudity and kink” – meaning transvestites, autogynephiles, and ageing, unloved fetishists flashing their cock rings – because these things are “a celebration of our culture.” And not wanting your small children exposed to these things is somehow damning evidence of hating gay people.
Oh really now.
I’m tempted to ask why a publication called Fatherly couldn’t find an actual father to give his views on the subject.

I too was puzzled, but I found “Heather received a master’s degree in journalism from UC Berkeley and a PhD in English from Rutgers University, where she studied race in American culture”, and who are we to argue with credentials like that? Besides, she might identify as a father, and if she does, she is a father, and only a rabid transphobe would say other wise.
Meanwhile in Minnesota, culture will be celebrated as this charming fellow is being paid by the city emcee this festival.
Delightful – bring the whole family!

Evidently, all those years of expensive education have done wonders for her thinking.
And it seems to me that if your “culture” entails parading about in assless chaps and waving your dick around in front of small children, and thinking that such behaviour is both affirming and totes awesome, a high point of human achievement, then your culture ain’t all that.
And it seems to me that if your “culture” entails parading about in assless chaps…
The other puzzlement is how and/or why as of late “pride” almost exclusively means “kink and drag”.
They don’t even pretend it’s not grooming anymore.
I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again – I really wish today’s activist gay left could stop trying so hard to prove the anti-gay bigots of fifty years ago absolutely right.
In other news, a hearty “yaaaaaaas queen!” to these two lovely lady cyclists.
This just in, a new meaning to autoeroticism
why as of late “pride” almost exclusively means “kink and drag”.
The aim is financial – to shock the relevant authoroties in to banning an event and thereby laying themselves open to a discrimination lawsuit with a potential payout of lots of $$. The reward/risk ratio is big because, if they lose, quite simply they have no assets to pay the costs. Blame the lawyers.
Blame the lawyers.
This. Another thing I will say repeatedly, likely to my last dying breath…the #&@$$# lawyers are screwing this country big time. Them, along with the insurance companies which have now become their own racket. They have traditionally been seen as opposed to lawyers but are now in a symbiotic relationship.
People, you are getting screwed in ways that you never see. It happens quite regularly. I am seeing a prime example of it, yet again, in our HOA. Frivolous BS lawsuit based on ZERO hard evidence that hasn’t even gone to court, likely (hopefully…my last tiny thread of faith) will get thrown out as farce, is costing our community $30K in additional cost. This is on top of our annual, budgeted insurance cost of $7400 (up from $6700 last year). Every home in our community is going to have to shell out an extra $110, this after the HOA absorbs some of that cost out of reserves. That is IF we do a special assessment, which comes with its own legalistic complications. Thus some board members want to just take the whole sum out of reserves so “no one will have to know”.
Scum. The legal profession in this country is vile scum. Pretending otherwise is whistling past the graveyard.
The legal profession in this country is vile scum.
“Nobody understands the law but the lawyers, and they don’t know right from wrong.”
–Jerry Pournelle, I think
I think this is an inherent human tendency, to think of legality as defining morality: If it’s legal then it is right. This is, of course, on top of the fact that there have always been amoral scum ready to seize any chance to steal or cause harm. Compounding the problem, there has been a modern shift to defining morality in political terms, so that for example it is wrong for a white male to disagree with a Person of Diversity but right for a Person of Diversity to cause physical harm to a white man.
In Norway you might be sentenced to three years in prison for publicly saying that trans men are not women and cannot be lesbians.
Has nobody else clicked the “That’s a lot of transgender paedophilia” link and read the alternate names of the first entry?
Has nobody else clicked…
No, but here is a nigh encyclopedic list of stunning and brave athletes.
No, but here is a nigh encyclopedic list of stunning and brave athletes.
Yes, but none of them have David Thompson as an alias.
That’s because David describes himself not as stunning and brave but as fabulous and charismatic.
“Stunning and brave” describes anyone who eats the bar snacks here.
“Stunning and brave” describes anyone who eats the bar snacks here.
“Stunning and brave” – odd way to spell “insanely drunk and/or suicidal”.
Geez, it’s almost like you don’t want to know more about sexual abusers who are obsessed with stuffing a Gigabyte of information into their “Gender” field.
Geez, it’s almost like you don’t want to know more about sexual abusers…
Was that supposed to be a joke?

The hump fat may not be safe to eat, but it is very good for lubricating slippery slopes.
Was that supposed to be a joke?
I wondered the same thing. It felt like a shot, but I couldn’t figure out what for so I let it slide. I thought I was helping to make the point.
Was that supposed to be a joke?

Click his link.
I did. Looked very briefly. Not sure what to make of it.
…except that he likes to draw very busty girls in skimpy clothing.
Click his link.
Now I’m even more confused. His link is to an article about 100 trans sex offenders and the first offender uses three aliases including David Thompson. So I don’t get the second post. I had dental surgery and am under the influence of Tylenol 3s. Perhaps that explains it. I don’t see any drawings of “busty girls in skimpy clothing.”
now I’m even more confused.
We aim to please. But if you came here for something other than confusion look at the sign on the wall: “No refund, credit note only.”
His link is to an article about 100 trans sex offenders…
The 100 trans sex offenders link is not originally his link, but one of the links in David’s original post. (“That’s a lot of transgender paedophilia.”)
I don’t see any drawings of “busty girls in skimpy clothing.”
His site (click on his name) is the one I was referring to.
I had dental surgery and am under the influence of Tylenol 3s.
I hope the Tylenol is making you feel happy, although I hear that if the dose is properly matched to the pain then this does not happen. Jokes aside, my sympathies and hope you are back to normal soon.

Robert Duvall was great in that film.
