Jordan Peterson tries to speak at Grant Hall, Queen’s University, Kingston, Ontario, Monday, March 5:
Meanwhile, outside the hall, the woke-lings feel good about themselves:
I’m told they’re attracted by the smell of brains.
Update:
Another scene from inside the venue. Amid the shrieking and psychodrama, note the spraying of the audience.
“That’s pure narcissism at work, by the way.”
Meanwhile, outside the hall, the woke-lings feel good about themselves:
Symbolism!
The besieged security guy looks like he’s on the verge of a panic attack. Good thing the woke-lings are all about the feelings.
Symbolism!
Well, quite. And there’s something oddly symbolic about the whole scenario, which calls to mind any number of low-budget horror films. And apparently, via reasoning that isn’t clear, Professor Peterson is a “white supremacist.” Which may come as something of a surprise to anyone familiar with his work.
The bacchantes are coming for Orpheus.
Hooligans.
The besieged security guy looks like he’s on the verge of a panic attack. Good thing the woke-lings are all about the feelings.
Only their own.
Only their own.
Imagine the – dare I say it – privilege of assuming that you’re entitled to behave in this way, to harass other people, and slander them, and to gleefully spoil their attempts to hear an invited speaker and maybe ask him questions. Say, by invading the stage, screaming inanities and hammering on stained glass windows. All while knowing bugger all about the person whose presence you’re supposedly offended by. And to do all this with impunity, knowing you won’t get punished or expelled.
If that isn’t privilege, I’m not sure what is.
Although the, as yet, mythical “backlash” is used as a tool to further the aims of the narrative in suppressing debate I have the profound sense that a backlash will truly occur in the not too distant future.
And like a light-switch the pressure will build and build until the switch-spring suddenly flips over.
It’ll also probably take a (seemingly) small triggering event….
Decent people have had enough…
“Boo. Get off the stage.”
What are the odds of those soyboy male-feminists hammering on the door while looking desperately for approval at their feminist overlords (overladies?), being accused of rape or sexual assault by one or more of the objects of their desire?
When did parents stop spanking their kids?
When did parents stop spanking their kids?
There’s still time.

When you discuss free speech and Antifa show up…
“No fascists on campus,” said the balaclava-wearing thugs.
And as seen in the previous thread, fearless, selfless woke-lings disrupt a lecture by noted “fascist” Christina Hoff Sommers.
It’s like someone put concentrated morony in the water.
Although the, as yet, mythical “backlash” is used as a tool to further the aims of the narrative in suppressing debate I have the profound sense that a backlash will truly occur in the not too distant future.
The backlash that’s just about to happen that I was writing about 15 years ago. Still waiting… (Actually, there have been backlashs, the Tea Party, Brexit, Trump, etc. But more is needed, and there won’t be any backlash on the campus).
Aye Hector. I see your point. Well that’s modern edukashun for you….

Did you notice that one of the zombies is wearing a Queen’s Law sweatshirt. It might not be hers, but if it is it speaks volumes about the influence her “education” is having on her conduct.
Peterson’s experience is not the first time. Back in the early ’90s, I went to hear Preston Manning speak in Grant Hall. We had to push our way through the mob to get into the building and, during the talk, the mob began pounding on the outside walls and shouting in an attempt to drown out any discussion inside. The police had to escort us out when Manning had finished speaking. No action was taken against the mob, even when they started pushing and shoving police officers.
Of course, the cowards in the University administration, including the Principal, never said a word about this behaviour or discussed what freedom of speech or thought actually means to a university.
“Boo. Get off the stage.”
Nice to see these young ladies have found an outlet for their arts and crafts enthusiasm.
Is it wrong to wish that these LARPing anti-fascists could go back in time to encounter some real fascists, instead of the imaginary ones they create out of whole cloth?
I wonder how that would turn out?
I wonder how that would turn out?
What?
Or, put another way.
It’s Godfrey Elfwick.
Heh.
I wonder how that would turn out?
Oh come on. His sign has a decorative border and everything. It’s hardcore.
It’s Godfrey Elfwick.
RIP Godfrey. Xir was an inspiration to us all….
RIP Godfrey.

Undoubtedly, some of the cohort above are the pure thugs, who would care why people were engaged in fisticuffs or vandalism, as long as they have an opportunity to drink a few pints and join in. In other words, they’re indistinguishable from a couple of plane-loads of English football fans in Brussels.
I would imagine most are those very young, very ignorant, yet serious, furrowed-browed students who’ve been told by some worthy that a “bad person” is afoot and must be stopped. For them, it doesn’t matter whether the “cause” is Jordan Peterson’s philosophy or “Liberate Petsamo” as long as someone with tenure has assured them of “woke indulgences” if they participate with appropriate vigor.
The most dangerous sub-cohort is the smallest. In fact, most of them were probably not in attendance or were safely inconspicuous on the sidelines somewhere. These are the instigators who know full-well that Jordan Peterson is not what they claim he is, but nonetheless use him to foment anger and resentment as a means of attaining power. Simply, they are the head of the snake.
You can thrash the members of the first two groups all you want, but until the last group is destroyed, the problem will continue to surface again and again, I fear.

You’re right. The people controlling all this are the really dangerous ones. Most antifa on the ground are just impressionable know-nothings.
The ‘Long March Through the Institutions’ that Gramsci called for has been eminently successful.

Not just the organizers, but the teachers and professors who indoctrinate the kids.

I know there have been a couple of imposters, but this has been re-tweeted by Lisa, so I’m guessing it’s xe returned to save us. Like Gandalf. Out of The Lord of the Rings. But better. Obviously.
And as we speak, the University Administration is preparing dozens of suspension and eviction/trespass notices, right?
“The people controlling all this are the really dangerous ones.”
Not as dangerous as the ones who will do nothing about it.
You can thrash the members of the first two groups all you want, but until the last group is destroyed, the problem will continue to surface again and again, I fear.
However, the Clausewitzian schwerpunkt is almost always the will to fight, and if you can defeat the will of the pool of recruits (neither the yobs nor snowflakes have the true fervor of jihadis) by repeatedly and without mercy showing them they will be metaphorically and/or literally pounded into the ground like circus tent pegs, the nidus of infection will become nothing more than a faculty lounge of antediluvian hippies kvetching about capitalism from their six figure sinecures.

Not that this comment needs to be acknowledged and appreciated yet one more time, but…yes it does. The mao-lings, while not completely innocent, are not the problem themselves. It’s whom we pay to educate them. These clowns, the educators I mean, are working mostly off of our tax dollars. We work to support this crap. This needs to stop. It needs to be exposed and mocked more publicly, not just on blogs. Very few people truly understand what is going on. I know quite a few folks who are sending their children to college who still don’t grasp the depth of the problem, some that the problem even exists. Or how deep it has seeped into our primary education systems. Not just the public schools but the private and religious prep schools as well.
I know there have been a couple of imposters, but this has been re-tweeted by Lisa…
“And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am [Elfwick]; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.[Rather, rely ye on the Retweets of Lisa]*”– Gospel of St. Luke, Chapter 21, verse 8 (KJV).

I could write a 3000 word reply to this comment, but then David’s spam filter would upchuck and die. Then he’d put a contract out on me with the henchlesbians. So, let me just say, “Spot-on.” I would only add that I’ve gone through the college selection process twice with the elder two progeny and now with the youngest. It necessitates involvement, most importantly in simply saying, “I will not pay a single cent to help you attend ‘SJW University.'” It’s amazing what control of the checkbook can accomplish.
Some of the chants heard during the various videos
A bit different from when I attended college, when we held a peaceful and silent vigil following the decision of The Heidelberg to eliminate “Dollar Pitcher Thursdays.” Sadly, it didn’t work. But we were able to save the fifty cent rail shots, so “Power to the people!”
*Raises clenched fist*
You can thrash the members of the first two groups all you want, but until the last group is destroyed, the problem will continue to surface again and again, I fear.
You get at that group by attacking their funding. Go after the money. When you de-fund the Chair For Diversity Studies, professor Blowhard has to get himself a day-job.
Symbolism!
I think it bears repeating that in the first video, inside the venue, Peterson is encouraging students to think for themselves and to articulate their ideas carefully, while a mob of poseurs, morons and overindulged narcissists is regurgitating slogans, blowing air horns, and hammering on the doors and windows.
For one party, it’s not a good look. But it is a telling contrast.
[ Edited. ]
It’s not a good look.
Maybe not but, so far, it has been remarkably effective.
Apparently, one of the more obnoxious participants at the Peterson protest is a student named Jonathan Shepherd, a member of the university’s socialist group and a self-styled devotee of “class war,” and who has a history of pseudo-radical LARPing and threatening behaviour.
“I’m told they’re attracted by the smell of brains.”
The Frogman called it years ago:
Farnsworth,

I just had an amusing vision of bemasked Antifa soy-boys fleeing in terror from a couple of circus strongmen carrying giant wooden mallets. 😀
I often point out that much of this foolishness happens at third-tier Canadian universities in backwoods (sometimes literally) areas, where academic standards are risible at best.
Queens is a top-tier Canadian university. It is one of the top three law universities in Canada. We’re doomed.
It’s not a good look.
Maybe not but, so far, it has been remarkably effective.
As David’s co-blogger Kate likes to point out, not showing up to riot is a failed conservative policy. It’s becoming increasingly obvious that calm, rational philosophical debate is not useful in this ideological war. As depressing and disturbing as it is to contemplate, I fear the Pinochet Solution is the only way back from this. The Japanese Option (order all universities to cease teaching any non-STEM subjects) isn’t feasible.

Over at Townhall, Kurt Schlichter on civility and why it hasn’t got conservatives anywhere.
Col. Schlichter:
Civility, once properly understood as a means to an end rather than an end in and of itself, has morphed from an aspiration into a political/cultural gimp suit designed to prevent you from effectively asserting your interests and your point of view.
Yep. He’s right. The same could be said of the US State Department and “diplomacy” as an end in and of itself.
I fear the Pinochet Solution is the only way back from this. The Japanese Option (order all universities to cease teaching any non-STEM subjects) isn’t feasible
How about before we order up the Japanese Option, we simply stop funding it? There are still a few trolly stops before the full-Pinochet end of the line. I get the feeling, as always I may be wrong, that many are afraid to try these measures out of fear of ridicule from the left (yet what has become more ridiculous than the left and NeverTrumpers/NeverBrexits?) and/or that the measures won’t work and we’ll be that much closer to full-Pinochet. Personally, I don’t think things need to go that far. Dry up the government funding for this nonsense and it rapidly becomes unsustainable. But it’s not going to happen if people are so afraid of speaking up.
Dodd, a Social Justice major

Well, I think it’s important not to lose sight of just how self-indulgent and self-flattering – and how pathological – such behaviour is. It speaks to a person’s character. Maybe it’s a lack of imagination on my part, but I struggle to imagine feeling entitled to in effect lay siege to a venue in order to silence and intimidate a speaker I disagreed with, but about whom I knew little, along with any random person who was hoping to hear him. And while comfortable in the assumption that I could act with impunity.
O_o Let me clarify. I’m not advocating for the Pinochet Solution (because mass murder). I just don’t see any way back from the current state of affairs to a functional society predicated on personal property rights and the rule of law.
Per the Japanese Option, my understanding is that because all Japanese universities are publicly funded and run by the government, “stop teaching non-STEM” == “stop funding non-STEM”. So that’s the same thing. But in Canada at least, cutting the funding is a non-starter. There is no way any government could get elected on a platform of cutting all public funding to universities teaching non-STEM subjects, because that would also have to include eliminating student loans for any non-STEM subject. Professors, students, potential students and the teachers’ unions are too large a voting bloc. They control the province of Ontario.
Further, the NDP has been elected to provincial governments multiple times in my lifetime, despite being openly socialist-to-Communist and utterly destroying the economy of every province they’ve ever run.
The government(s), federal and provincial, the electorate, and the educational system are thoroughly socialized. There are no political institutions capable of correcting this. It’s Venezuela or Chile at this point.

Well I cannot speak for Canada. While it doesn’t surprise me that parts of it have gone that far (the frenchy-er and such parts) I would like to believe, correct me if I’m wrong, that certain western and possibly maritime provinces could exert some influence here? Just SWAG. Either way, US or Canada (or UK or Oz or …), nothing will ever change if people just throw up their hands and say it can’t or won’t change. Perhaps cutting ALL non-STEM is a non-starter. May not even be a good idea for Canada. I don’t necessarily hate non-STEM. I just don’t think subjects that are not economically viable should be funded by tax payers. Hell, sometimes I’m not sure that even STEM education should be funded by tax payers. By what Decree From God was it decided that universities were to always be the main store houses of information and/or education until the very end of the universe? Slightly off topic, but this belief system we mostly seem to have such that education is something you acquire in a great big large chunk at the beginning of adulthood and then no more or trickle off is probably not very healthy for society as a whole. Either way stopping this nonsense is not impossible.
certain western and possibly maritime provinces could exert some influence here?
Not likely. The Maritime provinces have been “welfare queens” since time immemorial. The prairie provinces were the resource-extraction-based economic engine of Canada for decades, but between the federal government cancelling any pipeline projects to get the oil from the middle of nowhere to a coast and the province of Alberta accidentally electing an NDP government seethingly hostile to private enterprise in general and oil drilling in specific, the economies of the prairies have cratered. And there simply aren’t enough people or federal MPs in all of the prairies to matter in electoral politics.
Hell, sometimes I’m not sure that even STEM education should be funded by tax payers.
Oh, I’m with you there. But in Canada we’ve hit the Tytler Tipping Point where the takers outnumber the makers. If you know of a way to come back from that without a revolution, I’m all ears.
…cutting the funding is a non-starter.
I don’t see how the universities can continue down the road they’re on now. As we saw with the Portland State mob, when you have actual evolutionary biologists shouted down because, “those women have been brainwashed,” then there really is no hope. The solution lies in separating the hard sciences which rely on scientific method, skepticism, evidence, etc. from those which favor the SJW “flavor of the month” inspired by whatever crosses the mind of the English department faculty. Theology began leaving the university in favor of stand-alone seminaries with the Enlightenment. As has been noted previously, the whole intersectional, SJW basket is now religion which brooks no heretics. Universities cannot survive in the current climate. Either science becomes a pale reflection of its former self and embraces SJW Lysenkoism or it perishes, unless it flees the “modern” academy.
the province of Alberta accidentally electing an NDP government seethingly hostile to private enterprise in general and oil drilling in specific
Possibly the most mind-boggling political decision of all time, anywhere. It’s like Aberdeen electing a Green Party MP hell-bent on banning offshore drilling.
.
Don’t worry. After the Blue Wave 2018 midterms this will all go away as the soothing tide of love enwraps us all. We won’t need guns. We won’t need free speech. We won’t need borders. Just bliss forever. Imagine…
…not showing up to riot is a failed conservative policy.
We will continue to slumber, stoically taking their insults and getting on with our lives, until they cross some undefinable line. Then, rather suddenly and without warning, they will find that they have awakened a sleeping giant, and filled him with a terrible resolve.
If we’re lucky — very lucky — the ending will look more like McLintock! and less like Independence Day.
Possibly the most mind-boggling political decision of all time, anywhere.
It’s understandable if you’re a Canadian politics nerd. Corruption in the long-entrenched centre-right[1] parties led to a faction split and infighting, which let the NDP split the centre-right[1] vote and come up the middle with a majority. But even that doesn’t explain how so many people in Alberta could have willingly, knowingly voted for an openly Communist political party at all.
they will find that they have awakened a sleeping giant, and filled him with a terrible resolve.
…who will promptly roll over, snore and go back to sleep.
Seriously, it’s not going to happen. 9/11, Hilary’s multiple felonies, the violent suppression of academics, #Resist, and that’s in the US where there actually is a right wing.
Canada’s done. Even the “right wing”[1] rural plebs shriek like banshees if you talk about ending supply management or farm subsidies. Look at Venezuela: the country is collapsing in an economic dumpster fire and you have starving people complaining that the problem is that the government wasn’t socialist enough.
[1] Note that due to the Overton Window, in Canada “centre-right” means “slightly less socialist than Lenin”.
“When did parents stop spanking their kids?”
If you don’t spank your kids when they need it, someone else will have to punch them out when they are (nominally) adults.
Over at Townhall, Kurt Schlichter on civility and why it hasn’t got conservatives anywhere.
Over at the aptly-named Pajamas Media they recently went to lengths to compose a primer on the unexpected cultural differences between the formerly merely philosophically-opposed left and right and the concomitant need to identify same. I assume this is to reinforce the effective politicking of diesel power or most effective ways to diss a vegan or how to best descend into a football stadium by parachute while trailing a giant flag.
Wasn’t there a rabbit once who had the revolutionary sense not to engage in like kind?
Either way, US or Canada (or UK or Oz or …), nothing will ever change if people just throw up their hands and say it can’t or won’t change. Perhaps cutting ALL non-STEM is a non-starter. No worries. Given the US right’s entirely effective, laser-like, 250-year campaign to prevent the State from ever contaminating education there’s a sane, robust base of reliably structural originalism here. Why, the Constitution has never been held in higher regard.
What?
An update of possible interest:
Oh there’s more.
Oh there’s more.
“Police said that she bit one of the officers and had to be physically carried into her cell as she continued to be violent. Police searched her backpack and inside they found a weapon. Commonly known as a garrotte…”
But Jordan Peterson is the dangerous one.
But Jordan Peterson is the dangerous one.
As I’ve illustrated many times, “social justice” activism does seem to attract a high concentration of people with mental health issues. More than chance alone would seem to allow.
More on the ‘protest’ here. Apart from blocking doors and fire escapes, and harassment and vandalism, and spitting on people, the “protestors” also sprayed the audience with “an unidentified liquid.”
Oh there’s more.
I notice they have to get the smears in first:
” His critics have accused him of promoting far-right, racist, homophobic and Islamophobic ideas.”
Who wouldn’t hate a guy like that? I bet he wants to round up Jews too! He’s literally Hitler.
This before any mention of a violent woman who smashed a valuable window, attacked Police officers and carried a deadly weapon.
And they wonder why Trump supporters called them fake media.
@ Jonathan…
“Is it wrong to wish that these LARPing anti-fascists could go back in time to encounter some real fascists, instead of the imaginary ones they create out of whole cloth?”
A pack of protesters passed my office one day two years ago. They were protesting against the protesters who didn’t want a mosque built in the town. They engaged in loud, nasty chants relating to “nazis” and “facists” all the way. I remember thinking that if any of them encountered the real thing they’d poo their pants.
As it turned out my 11am clients were late, held up by streets blocked FOR those protesters. They had with them their four year old daughter who spent the hour in tears. The close up encounter this Indian, MUSLIM family had with the supposedly pro-Muslim protesters had terrified their little girl.
I have no doubt the noise makers were as proud as punch with their antics.
Oh there’s more.
Interesting sign in the photo, “Free speech is a right, a platform is a privilege”.
Translated into Normalspeak, “You can say whatever you want, just not in public”. Par for the course.
Par for the course.
And then of course there’s the privilege of the protestors themselves, which they tend not to mention, i.e., a unilateral veto, enforced with thuggery, on who may speak and what others may hear. All done with an assumption of impunity.
It could be worse; he could be literally Churchill.
Thump the young scum.
Purge their supposed “teachers” and the admin shite who make all this possible.
A garrotte for God’s sake. What the hell is going on?
There was a time when thoughts like the following would enter my head but I would have the discretion to edit them out. Not so much any more…
JP is a very smart man. A very well educated man. A fine man. As demonstrated recently in the infamous BBC interview, a very calm-in-the-face-of-confrontation man. He is very much like the kind of men, doctors and such, with whom I predicted…well not EXACTLY this sort of thing but kind of this sort of thing…15-20 years ago now. In very calm, quiet manner these men explained to me that my concerns were, while not exactly troubling, but concerning to them. Suggestions that perhaps I was taking these things much, much too seriously. Political correctness and such were things to laugh at because these things generally just sort themselves out. Magically. By other people. Not sure as by what people, nor was whatever process fully explained to me. But after all, it always has worked out, yes? So when I see JP, or similar, expressing concern that someone showed up at one of his lectures with a garrotte (really, now…isn’t such really just a piece of string? Why the alarm?), or similar, I feel the urge to speak with them, in a calm, quiet tone mind you, about their possibly exaggerating the degree of appropriate concern.
Speaking of platforms, Godfrey Elfwick weighs in.
Godfrey Elfwick
@RealElfwick
Stormed into a local home for the elderly this morning and no-platformed an ignorant racist who was giving them a talk called ‘WWII Memories’. There’s no place for that colonialist rhetoric in 2018. #SayNOToFascism #WarwickAntifa
(really, now…isn’t such really just a piece of string? Why the alarm?),
The police do have a tendency to embellish as part of the “charge them with a million things so they plead down to something” strategy, but leaving that aside, a garrotte is a specific thing. It’s a wire or strong cord with two wooden handles on either end, used specifically to cut the throat or crush the windpipe by looping around and twisting from behind. It’s an assassin’s weapon.
It’s an assassin’s weapon.
Thing is, if your so-called learning environment either tolerates or encourages delinquency, intimidation and overstepping normal boundaries, and then applauds these things as righteous and heroic, such that hatred and hysteria become in-group credentials, then it’s hard to say where the obvious upper limit of misbehaviour is. Those who fantasise about using garrottes and other weapons – even if it’s as yet only a fantasy – aren’t miles removed from a wider peer group that’s learned to exult in mob thuggery.
It’s a wire or strong cord with two wooden handles
So it’s like a jump-rope? See, nothing to be concerned about. Let’s all take some deep breaths and try to keep these things in perspective.
Given the rest of the details in the description of the event, I can’t be certain that the protestor didn’t mean to use the garotte on herself. She would appear to have issues.
WTP is only partly right about JP. Peterson knows what is happening to the University and he places himself directly in the line of fire and takes the heat to serve as an example of the sickness sweeping the culture. Charles Murray is another academic who does this. Both are courageous men.
WTP is only partly right about JP.
Nah. I think I’m mostly right about JP. Why be surprised that someone showed up with a garrote? I’m surprised no one has yet to show up with a gun. I’m curious what the “unidentified liquid” that was sprayed was about was. Perhaps a dry run (no pun intended) for something more nefarious later on?
To be clear, I mean no disrespect to JP himself. For all I know he’s been on top of this BS as long as I have. But he, and most like him, have been brining a dictionary to a gun fight…ok, a fist fight for now. Or what would be a fist fight if certain elements would stop letting themselves be LITERALLY (and I when I say literally, I literally mean literally) pushed around. These antifas and such block entrances to buildings and then try to play passive. The roots of this goes back to the sit-ins of the 60’s. Bah…Why do I feel the need to even explain this crap. I’ve been seeing it, and all that has led up to it, for decades now. Not always in the context of free speech or such but in the generally thuggery and bullying that has gone on at schools and universities for decades. It just that the left has taken to using this tool more and more aggressively (microaggressions anyone?). And it’s even gotten to the point where the ones doing the bullying are basically a bunch of pussies. Because no one has the cajones to push back. Because that would be wrong.
To be clear, I mean no disrespect to JP himself. For all I know he’s been on top of this BS as long as I have. But he, and most like him, have been brin[g]ing a dictionary to a gun fight…

Former Protein Wisdom blogger and academic Jeff Goldstein was on about sacrificing the language to the left’s intentionalist intelligentsia a decade and a half ago before being unceremoniously exorcised from the club by – and get this – the right wing blogosphere.
He was JP before JP was JP.
“I’m not advocating for the Pinochet Solution (because mass murder).”
That was the beauty of the Pinochet Solution: it was focused.
Helicopters may be a bit overboard (pun intended), but physical confrontations are being forced upon people who refuse to fight back. Add in academics who spent decades bringing dictionaries to fights and administrators who refuse to hold accountable the agitators and foot soldiers. And consider all the normal citizens who would march in the streets but are afraid of just being called bad names let alone losing friends or jobs.
So the normies and the rest of us sit back and let peoplekind be literally, physically pushed into shit because we lack the will to see vandals, instigators, invaders, and traitors expelled, imprisoned, and deported.
We normals sit back and allow this nonsense because almost all of it happens at a distance. I don’t go out of my way to walk around university campuses looking for Angry Studies majors to torment, and conversely, they don’t show up at my place of business to give me grief.
As we’ve documented, this state of affairs is unlikely to remain static, and not because I’m filled with an urge to attend lectures in the Angry Studies department. When regular people see the shrieking purple-haired gender-confused harpies invading their personal spaces, when they’re close enough to feel the spittle-flecked rage at first hand — that’s when we see the preference cascade come crashing down.
Harvey Weinstein was all-powerful, until he wasn’t. A divided Germany was inevitable, until it wasn’t. My beautiful, flowing hair was full and lush and eternal, until it wasn’t.
The vast majority of our neighbors are going to sit there and accept the insults for years and years, because they’re decent people who aren’t looking for a fight. But one day, the Antifa goons will go too far, and they’ll discover what happens when “regular folk” decide they’ve had enough.
I just hope I have enough advance notice to set up a booth to sell sticks and stones.
So it’s like a jump-rope? See, nothing to be concerned about.
No.
I can’t tell if you’re being facetious. This is a garrotte. They’re easy to make, too; some hardwood dowelling and some 250lb nylon fishing line will do it. The point is that unlike a baseball bat, a garbage can lid, or similar improvised weapons of opportunity, making and carrying a garrotte implies unambiguous malevolent intent. When I say it’s an assassin’s weapon, that’s not hyperbole: it is useless for any purpose other than murdering someone from behind.
Those who fantasise about using garrottes and other weapons – even if it’s as yet only a fantasy
While it may not meet legal standards of culpability, what it implies about the wielders mental processes is deeply disturbing. You can’t posture with a garrotte. You can’t brandish it to intimidate people. It’s not for showing off how badass you are. Its only value is in the use of it.
But one day, the Antifa goons will go too far, and they’ll discover what happens when “regular folk” decide they’ve had enough.
If attacking elderly academics, putting female professors in the hospital with spinal injuries, smashing up public businesses and gang-beating pedestrians in full view of completely apathetic riot police didn’t do it, I’m curious where you think that line is.
Sorry, DR. Yes, I was being facetious. My bad. I’ve seen enough WWII prison movies (as this is what passes for “real” knowledge these days for others, why not me?) to know what a garrotte is. No idea how to spell one though.

Well given that the perp carrying it (she) “bit one of the officers and had to be physically carried into her cell as she continued to be violent. Police searched her backpack and inside they found a weapon. Commonly known as a garrotte…”, I’m fairly certain the possession of this item was posturing (internally, either in her own head for courage or as a show off to her accomplices…who themselves may have laughed) on her part. Unless she was carrying it for someone else. I can’t reasonably conjure up a scenario where a woman would, with zero element of surprise, reasonably (heh) expect to use it under the conditions both planned and as played out per the video(s). But then I have no practical experience with garrotes and thus must fall back on what I learned from Steve McQueen.
See, now it feels like I’m on the other side of this thing. I think I’m just playing Devil’s Advocate here. I think. Hell everything is so upside down anymore even I don’t know when I’m being sarcastic…or facetious for that matter.
But one day, the Antifa goons will go too far, and they’ll discover what happens when “regular folk” decide they’ve had enough.
That day is a long way off, if it ever comes at all. The Media is basically on the side of antifa and report their antics as giving evil Nazis what they deserve. Normal people aren’t interested beyond what the media tell them; ergo, they don’t care.
what it implies about the wielder’s mental processes is deeply disturbing.
Oh, absolutely. But then much of what we see in the videos – and in the other, similar videos we’ve seen over the years – strikes me as ripe with pathology too. And again, when you’ve seen pampered students exulting in the mob dynamic while terrifying random people, or trapping a woman in a wheelchair and happily taunting her while chanting about “social justice,” or deliberately blocking the path of ambulances, or laughing as their fellow woke-lings try to smash a windscreen into the face of a terrified female motorist – because, hey, they can – then the line between posturing and outright sociopathy looks awfully thin, and easily crossed.
If attacking elderly academics, putting female professors in the hospital with spinal injuries, smashing up public businesses and gang-beating pedestrians in full view of completely apathetic riot police didn’t do it, I’m curious where you think that line is.
I’m not sure how many people are aware of the antics on campus in recent months, since Jonathan is right — this isn’t deemed newsworthy by most mainstream outlets.
I suspect that we’ll see Antifa continue its escalation of hostilities, once it grows tired of terrorizing the campus. Maybe they decide to invade a Fourth of July parade with an unacceptable Grand Marshal. Maybe they go after an evangelical church that speaks against gay marriage and genderfluidity. Maybe they follow Iowahawk to a car show.
Whatever they decide to do, I have little doubt that they’ll wind up terrorizing and probably injuring some decent Middle Americans, and in a way that the news networks can’t resist showing. When people see a group of black-clad anarchists trampling over some pretty white lady and her children, they’re going to be animated in a way that just doesn’t happen when it’s some egghead getting beaten up on campus.
Of course, I could very well be wrong. That’s always the tricky bit about unpredictable mob behavior.
.. strikes me as ripe with pathology ..
At the very least, the left lack empathy. At worst they’re sociopathic.
then the line between posturing and outright sociopathy looks awfully thin, and easily crossed
One of the purposes of the rhetoric and the posturing is to make the line increasingly easy to cross.
