Campus resident assistants at the school are hanging up two sets of posters titled “Emotional Labour 101”: one for whites, and another for minorities, whom the posters dub as “victims of emotional labour.” Both posters define “emotional labour” as having to exert energy “for the purpose of addressing people’s feelings, educating, making people comfortable, or living up to ‘social expectations.’”
You see, inculcating pretentious guilt, and then exploiting it, is terribly exhausting. And having to deal with “microaggressions,” like being disagreed with, or being asked questions you can’t answer in a sufficiently self-flattering manner, is way too much like hard work. And so, students with That Magic Brown Skin™ are encouraged to demand compensation from their paler peers for the “mental toll” of having to explain why everyone else is racist and should shut the hell up:
“Charge for your services,” the poster suggests. “If you’ve decided you’re going to do it, at least get paid.”
Those deemed sufficiently brown – and therefore by default morally superior and emotionally fragile – are cautioned to “avoid overexertion” when “educating” their paler, less enlightened classmates. “The burden does not rest on your shoulders,” declares the poster. “You don’t owe anyone anything at the expense of your mental health.” The instructional posters are, however, rather less indulgent of students of pallor, who are warned to consider how “people of colour” – who, despite such pampering are apparently “a marginalised group” – are being fatigued by any questioning of their claims. “Be mindful of your place and position,” reads the Guide For White Students, before suggesting that the melanin-deficient should offer financial compensation, “take ownership for the harm you caused” and “think about social justice issues.”
Sadly, there’s no mention of any financial compensation for white students who are continually being told, by so-called educators, that they’re inherently oppressive and therefore bad people who should feel ashamed. It seems that this ‘microaggression’ business only works one way.
So this is about tipping.
Well, mindful of their place and position, I would hope the high cheekbones white finished beauties of Scripts would not hesitate at 15 and, for really excellent service, go all the way to 20. Daddy can afford it.

I know from personal experience, now is the time aspiring high school juniors and their parents journey to various post-secondary institutions of “learning” to see where best to send applications come August. I’m sure parents of those who can afford $50K per year tuition will be thrilled to see such posters around campus. Wait a minute. I thought the whole purpose of “diversity” in college admissions was to expose students to a wide variety of people with other life experiences in order to provide a broader education. Yet, if a student desires to avail himself of that opportunity by seeking to learn about and the life experiences of those not like himself, he is committing some sort of grave sin against the magical “other.” It would seem then, that the diversity mongers have been pulling our collective legs, non?

Well, you’d think that the continual and institutional insinuation that white students are unfairly “privileged,” probably racist and complicit in oppression would at the very least constitute a ‘microaggression’ and thus a basis for complaint. But that’s assuming the people responsible have reciprocal values, which evidently they don’t.
How does anyone make any money writing comedy with this stuff just happening for free?

Not directly related to the topic at hand, I’m going to recommend JP Mac’s book Hallow Mass to David, if he hasn’t read it already. It’s half Lovecraftian horror, half extremely biting satire of left academia, astroturfing, and the like. As an appetizer, one pretentious academic heads a Critical Weather Studies department, and another audits the laughter of students for privilege, with allusions made to a university “Yes means expulsion” policy and a basement inquisitorial room.

Well, it would depend on what they think they are “progressing” towards. If it’s some nightmarish mash-up of Brave New World and Nineteen Eighty-four, I doubt they’d behave any differently.

Second evasion of note: discrimination based on ethnicity, regional origin, and other factors (used to elevate “people of color”) are handwaved down to skin color only.
Third evasion, deliberate confusion of stated intention vs. effect or means. A Klan founded with *stated intent*(i.e. good-sounding lie) of “preserving white culture”/etc. is judged based on demonstrated intent only, while a favored group is judged on stated intent only.

my apologies, YT does indeed mean white. I have seen it used to refer to the evil whites and the strident promulgation of the idea that they need to be extinguished for crimes committed (insert here crimes as needed i.e. apartheid, stealing the land from the natives, fighting proxy war in Angola etc etc). I would bet that the average white or Asian student at Scripps pays about $30,000 more per year than the average student of color.
If the precise difference was made public, maybe the SOCs would be a little less arrogant and the white students would be a little less self-loathing.
Being talked down to by someone getting a free ride because of his or her blackness would certainly rub me the wrong way, if I was paying full freight. But that’s just me.
