After all, as this Professor of Postcolonial Studies at the University of Cambridge notices, South Asians like her win just as many Olympic running medals as people of sub-Saharan descent. https://t.co/UaINXN7Psd

To say nothing of differing susceptibility to various diseases, blood and organ donation, and numerous medical treatments.
And that’s before we get to anything too swoon-inducing.
Dr Gopal is currently restricting replies to those who already agree with her, while calling – well, pretty much everyone – “dumb” and “racist.”
Sharp-eyed readers will note that Dr Gopal didn’t check her own very public assertion for basic grammatical errors, possibly on account of being far too busy deleting her own earlier pronouncements. Among which, “White lives don’t matter,” and, inevitably, this:
Abolish whiteness

She’s an educator, you know.
Dr Gopal and her strange mental adventures have entertained us before, with her somewhat ambitious redefinition of violence so as to include anything with which she disagrees, and her belief that being referred to as “madam” by a college porter is racist, proof of “racial profiling,” and a basis for a lengthy and very public persecution drama.

Her “brown body” sounds like a total bitch.
Dr Gopal is a disagreeable mediocrity in a joke discipline, and not, I think, overly interested in the realities of any subject on which she offers her pronouncements.
Another win for Cambridge, then.
And as I said in the earlier post,
Answers on a postcard, please.
I don’t think that I fully understand how Oxford and Cambridge (over here we generally say them in that order…generally…like Harvard, then Yale…not sure why) actually work but I presume there is some sort of intellectual rivalry? Per Yes, Minister it seems they both look down on LSE. Have the luminaries at Oxford had much of anything to say about this nonsense being exposed at Cambridge? Or it it a case of glass houses?
Dr. Gopal is living proof of no matter how many credentials you have or how much education you have received it is still possible to be a complete and utter fuckwit.
On a racism of hiking in the woods:
I was reminded yesterday of how many POC grifters like to say getting into the Great Outdoors is a White Man’s activity and that those of darker hued skin are intimidated to venture likewise. I photographed a marriage proposal along the Alum Cave Trail in the Smokies. Guess who I saw on the trail? Go on, guess. People of various skin tones. Black people, White people, Asians, South Asians (Desi) – all happily clomping about in appropriate footwear, backpacks, and hiking poles.
Ya shoulda seen it.
And driving home I was cut off by a bear.
Nathan Cofnas was hounded out of Cambridge University, but hyper-racist Priyamvada Gopal remains employed.
That’s precisely the sort of person Cambridge and other universities want to hire.
Examples of which abound.
Hurrah. The return of the Tolkien-esque Goblin-looking motherfucker!
‘Bout time you showed your face, matey.
I had been restraining myself on the advice of my doctor.
But he’s dead now.
“{W}hat an amazing woman she is.”
Would she have acted the same way had he referred to her as ‘c—‘?
It’s the grandiose narcissism of actually complaining – the expectation that the entire college will participate in her preposterous drama, not laugh and show her the door. The porter, by the way, was found innocent of any heinous racial intent – which is a pleasing surprise – but the air of farce remains.
Again, the phrase I recently learned is handy: Can’t Understand Normal Thinking.
And I’d forgotten about the whole going-on-strike thing.
I think you’re going to need a bigger blog.
Reminder that you don’t hate the media enough.
And I’d forgotten about the whole going-on-strike thing.
For that all too brief shining period, the overall level of intellectual and academic discourse at Cambridge began to rise again.
Today’s word of the day: resourceful.
“I just think that certain things should not be discussed intellectually,” says a philosophy student at Cambridge. A philosophy student seemingly unaware of one of the most strongly evidenced phenomena in all of psychometrics. Apparently, it’s the University’s “duty of care” to ensure that students remain oblivious to widely known facts about human variation.
And then there’s the supposedly righteous and professional interviewer, Mr Nick Ferrari, who repeatedly resorts to crass emotional manipulation and asks loaded and indignant questions, then tries his damnedest to prevent any articulation of an answer, before ignoring any response as somehow immaterial. Presumably because he fails to comprehend the relevance of the reply, or simply doesn’t care about the facts and is bent on hostility.
The point about quoting Harvard’s own research, for instance, would, you might think, be of obvious and fundamental relevance. But no. Instead we get more interruptions, more posturing, and, “It’s difficult enough to be a black student at Cambridge.”
What’s grating, I suppose, is just how readily this level of pre-emptively hostile partisan distortion – and eye-widening incuriosity – is accepted, taken as the standard of things. The measure of what is. And of what is permissible to consider.
So yes, a shit show, even by the standards of LBC, which we touched on not too long ago.
Commonly known as Muphry’s Law.
The zeitgeist has changed. Online bullies who have spent years in echo chambers that instantly banned anyone who disagreed, and facing criticism for the very first time, and they don’t know how to handle it.
Academia is, of course, being hit the hardest.
That one deserves to go a long way.
Is she from one of India’s ruling castes, which are notorious for treating members of all others with contempt?
If she were, there would be no way to tell by looking at her since “If you believe in the existence [sic] biological racial differences, you are a racist.”
Her Goblin physiognomy is a personal choice, you see. Not an inherited regional deformity.
An odd one though, I must say.
FFS
One more time. This is where we are.
Well, if you’re permitted to discuss things and test things, you may find something out. And what you find out may not be what you would find flattering.
Quite a lot of people seem to operate on an assumption that things of which they personally would not approve, would not find congenial, or would regard as unkind, couldn’t possibly be true. Couldn’t possibly exist. As if by definition.
Because, obviously, that’s how the universe works, you know. It’s powered by kittens and candy floss.
What?
Was in a workshop of Big Minds about some Big Topic and a Big Name was explaining how to calculate some important index about biodiversity IIRC. I pointed out that he had an error (a particular talent of mine, noticing errors in the immediate) and he waved it away. I thought, well, bigwigs got to showoff. But the next day he started off by admitting his mistake and presented a correction and I had to admit he was more honest than I had thought. Sadly, such events are much rarer in the social sciences.
Karl! Cats are obligate carnivores! Replace that Candyfloss with shredded chicken, immediately!
It was foggy again this morning, but now it’s sunny and 73°F.
Our department had a big meeting to try to put together a big proposal to get grant money. Some people were putting forth nonsense ideas (this was a science dept) and my colleague and I were letting our disapproval be known. Our dept head let us know later that he was not happy that we “could not get along with people we did not respect” (as best I can quote him 35 years later). As if getting along was the point rather than writing a proposal that wouldn’t be laughed at. There were also people blatantly stealing other’s intellectual property.
How you treat the waiters: i am glad looking back that I had to paint houses and pump gas (oh boy, that dates me) and work at McDonalds because I have never treated people doing such jobs badly.
57F here this morning. I thought about putting a sweater on then I remembered that I hate sweaters.
The poster is mistaken:
But it is culture–a culture which devalues the humanity of non-Muslims and permits their mistreatment and even rape/murder.
Fred ther Fourth!
This is as close as AI would get.
You’ll have to turn on the blender yourself.
All I know is that this white boy lacks the ‘jumping bone’. Not that I am offering a ‘scientific’ opinion.
What the hell? That comes close to encroaching on Instapundit territory.
Today’s low was 75°F.
Sorry I’ve been away.
Do we no longer have insta-envy?
In general, I do not approve of blending live animals. Not even communists, at least not always.
I used to toddle into King’s every week. On the rare occasions when one spoke to me the porters called me “sir”. I refrained from clutching my pearls because I didn’t share the madwoman’s delusion that somehow a porter should recognise that one had the aura of holding a doctorate. Silly cow.
It’s just that you must pay royalties to Evil Glenn.
It’s a reference to the Evil Glenn meme, which used to be all over* the internet.
* all over IMAO with occasional appearances at Iowahawk and elsewhere.
How Evil Glenn Reynolds chose what to write:
Here’s your ninepence.
High school students offered a summer art course at local college. What could go wrong?
So far as I can see, the only party to have made vehemently crass racist noises – to have repeatedly expressed overt and quite emphatic racial antipathy – is Dr Gopal. And she does this while claiming that the physical basis of her antipathy doesn’t actually exist.
Which is quite a feat.
Did you not bring a house cat with you?
