Because some things bear repeating, some items from the archives:
It’s A Laugh-A-Minute Lifestyle.
In which we ponder polyamory and supposedly “non-hierarchical” relationships.
And we mustn’t forget the tale, via New York magazine, of the Brooklynite comedian and podcaster named Billy, his girlfriend Megan, and his girlfriend Megan’s other boyfriend Kyle. An exhaustingly self-consciousness three-way entanglement resulting in a series of grimly farcical situations that were framed, rather coyly, as “relationship difficulties.”
The above, I should add, was one of several attempts by New York magazine to portray unfaithfulness and cuckoldry, and the consequent anxieties, as the very zenith of a progressive lifestyle.
As when a betrayed husband, Michael Sonmore, boasted, unconvincingly, that he “finally became a feminist” thanks to his wife’s nocturnal sexual adventures with a chap named Paulo. A wife who was “embracing herself” and becoming empowered, we were told, while her children, aged six and three, wondered where their Mommy was.
Gardening is all about the “crisis in white identity,” says sociology lecturer.
Given the Guardian’s intense gravitational pull on certain kinds of stupid, it was perhaps inevitable that Dr Pitcher would find a welcome there. Now it turns out that squirrels are yet another proxy for “our” unspoken racial sentiment.
Our esteemed intellectual, who divines hidden racism by means of his third eye, is hurt by the avalanche of mockery aimed at his earlier pronouncements, claiming his words have been misconstrued, while also claiming that same derision proves him right, and while repeating the very claims that resulted in laughter.
He does, however, concede that “the uprooting of… Japanese knotweed is… not necessarily motivated by racist intent.”
Wherever Possible, Avoid Mad People.
Science fiction events, Mexican snacks, and the algebra of umbrage.
Once some mental association has been discovered or contrived, everyone must act as if the innocuous object or action were in reality malicious and/or wounding, whatever the actual intention and regardless of how absurd and/or dishonest the claim of grievance is. Because whatever bizarre association of things is in the accuser’s head is assumed to be in everyone else’s head too.
Dr Golz and her peers are in effect saying to students, “You should want to be the guy who bitches about the rather unobvious racist subtext of party snacks. And if you do choose to behave that way, we’ll reward you and flatter you and make you feel important, while making other people jump through clown hoops to appease the feelings you pretend to have.”
And the more implausible and contrived the claim of victimhood is, the more status points accrue, on account of the complainant’s heightened sensitivity and supposed mental prowess. One has fathomed an injustice mere mortals cannot see. And bewildered onlookers are expected to pretend that this is a high and noble function of an academic institution.
For those craving more, this is a pretty good place to start.
Consider this an open thread. Share ye links and bicker.
This rickety barge is kept afloat by the tip jar buttons below. Just sayin’.

Computer says no.
Like so much else in the progressive mindset, it does seem to require an awful lot of pretending.
And so, we have a catalogue of supposedly “non-hierarchical” relationships in which it’s often quite easy to spot the pecking order, and the party who’s the patsy, and the party who’s exhibiting behaviour one might call abusive. Or some unhappy rota system in which everyone involved is shitting on the others and then being shat upon. While pretending to be happy and terribly radical.
What we see, as in the examples and weird coping videos linked in the post above, rarely corresponds with the breathless sales pitch.
He needs to touch grass.
You can practically hear the straining, the mental contortions required.
What tickled at the time was Dr Pitcher’s seeming shock at being mocked and having his claims poked at with well-deserved contempt. The comical indignation at his status as an intellectual, someone to whom we should defer, being questioned by “little Englanders.” Evidently, he was unaccustomed to even the most obvious questions and objections.
And as [+] said in an earlier thread, “It must be great to have a job where being wrong and publicly humiliated has no effect on your prospects.”
Such is the arse-end of academia.
On police bodycams and what they reveal.
Much to the annoyance, one might add, of so many progressives.
That photo though.
It’s somehow not entirely surprising that the clown desperately trying to find excuses to call you racist over and over again – say, because of your gardening habits or furniture choices – has a ludicrous combover and terrible teeth.
For some reason, the word caricature came to mind.
It’s really not.
“Comments are turned off”.
Some of the reader comments on Dr Pitcher’s Guardian article – ah, back when the Guardian actually permitted comments – are quite funny.
Say, regarding Dr Pitcher’s seeming failure to notice that Britain – which he frames only as “a political entity” – is also, rather importantly, an island. Which has fairly obvious and undermining implications for his own claims regarding attitudes to invasive species, etc., and the contrived analogies piled upon them.
Re-reading the thing, and rewatching Dr Pitcher’s video, I couldn’t help but notice how white people, we’re told, are in search of some “supposed ethnic origins.” A term – supposed – that would not be applied so readily, complete with implicit sneering, to other racial demographics.
I’d also suggest that subsequent events involving large and growing numbers of uninvited and unassimilable newcomers, with their fondness for machetes, rape, and so forth, have thrown Dr Pitcher’s blathering into an even less favourable light.
Yet still he bangs on, impervious, searching for excuses to call white people racist.
Then every style of furniture, all around the world, is “all about race”.
Westerners loving their own cultural heritage is racist. Hating our own culture and giving aid to foreigners who hate us is anti-racist.
These progressive definitions make “racism” sound pretty damned appealing.
Multi-culturalists disdain those secure enough in their own culture to be interested in others.
Note the bookshelves behind him: Derrida, Heidegger, Adorno, etc.
Mexican snacks present: racism.
Mexican snacks not present: also racism.
Arguing with leftists and racists is like playing Calvinball. One can publicly dismantle their lies for the benefit of unindoctrinated observers, but sooner or later it is advisable to knock them over the head.
SF writers John Ringo and Michael Z Williamson weighed in, mocking the bullshit:
But leftist politics is her life.
An Arab Muslim supposedly complained, “Why are there no Muslims in Star Trek.?” The answer: “Because it takes place in the future.”
What secular sin am I committing by eating guacamole while reading a fantasy novel?
Gardening: people taking a piece of nondescript mud, investing labor over the seasons, and imposing their own sense of order and beauty on it. It is a kind of analog of nationalism, and the characteristic way a country looks is an aggregate of the sense of order and beauty of that country’s people. Even professional movie artists can’t imitate it precisely if a movie is filmed in the wrong location.
People don’t have a conscious awareness that their local sense of beauty and order is part of a bigger national sensibility, it’s not like they’re not playing their national anthems as they prune their plants. But if you disrupt the ability or morale of people to impose beauty and order on their environment, so that their surroundings fall into entropy and could be any slum anywhere in the world, that has an aggregate denationalizing effect, and antiwhites know it better than whites themselves do.
Well, when Dr Pitcher blathers about “a crisis in white identity,” one gets the impression that any such crisis very much appeals to him. That he finds the idea of it – what’s the word – titillating.
Without reading any further than just the excerpts you posted, DAVID, I must say 1) emotional labor! 2) educate yourself! 3) violence! 4) reeeee!

Whew! That’s tiring. I must say, I’d rather sit here and admire the “mid-century modern” furniture my father and I built, 50-60 years ago. Which we did because they were light, relatively simple structurally, easy to upholster, and the designs were easy to steal by wandering around a local furniture store, “Scandinavian Design” (which is still in business today).
Oh, and part of the family was called Holmberg, so don’t go accusing us of appropriation.
Accusations of racism , strangely, have no effect on me these days. Hmm. I wonder how that could have happened?
Find the most anodyne of hobbies, see if the perception could be had that people of pallor engage in said hobby more than the melanin-enriched, VOILA! White supremacy discovered! – write papers, get speaking engagements, enjoy the tongue-bathing of the blue-haired, septum ring set.
We’ve seen it with knitting, hiking, et al. They whine that somehow yte people are the only racists/cultural appropriators/oppressors around but they refuse to allow the same people to enjoy anything on their own and demand to be centered in any of these activities.

Meanwhile in Berlin the Queer Commissioner does the Norm MacDonald.
Yes, that is a real government position.
“Schwerpunkte” – seen in the URL and links, I knew I had seen that word before.
Schwerpunkt, for whom it was an assigned reading, was used by Clausewitz in Vom Kriege, in one of the most widely used translations taken to mean “center of gravity” as the “hub of all power and movement, upon which everything depends.” IOW, that which either must be defeated or defended, depending on which team one is on, of course.
Speaking only, as I do, not much more than restaurant and shop German, Mr. Innerweb translator says it could also mean emphasis, unless just unaware of the Clauswitzian meaning, given all the other words listed for emphasis, it is still curious why that was chosen.
And yet some people have wondered why I use the word pathology in the banner.
And in “queer milk” news:
Previously and very much related.

You saw nothing.
Those just happen to be on the bookshelf that just happens to be behind him when the picture was taken. Pure random chance.

I am intrigued. I have heard of chocolate candy bars and chocolate bars, but never chocolate cake bars. What is this confection of which you speak?
But it reminds me – there’s a British confection that is large, round, and comes in a silver wrapper with red or maroon colored stripes on it. I looked it up once when it was referenced here, I think, and I saw it again in a Dr. Who/TARDIS video where they pop in on an old lady who was slowly and carefully unwrapping the thing.
I have a sweet tooth, ok, and it is too hot here to bake anything right now, so I am left with ogling confectionary from afar, as nothing at the grocery store interested me.
David has become a purveyor of pastry porn. Cheesecake, if you will.
No refunds; credit note only.
Well, after yesterday’s post, I guess beefcake was already done for the week…
Although the Madeline Kahn clip someone (aelf?) posted was a lot more enjoyable. More real, less oily plasticine. And with a good dose of humor.
Is this true?
In fact, he is a purveyor of merely the promise not the reality. A tastebud teaser.
Are these chocolate cake bars?
The very puppies.
We pay these people to educate kids. Let that sink in.
And it’s not just the wearying theatre of hypersensitivity, the endless competition to be offended. It’s the refusal, not least by the supposed adults in the room, to see that theatre of hypersensitivity as a spiteful act. An activity engaged in by really shitty people. Shitty people they reward with a sense of power and importance, and before whom they prostrate themselves.
While better people are accused of “causing harm” by offering food to attendees.
It’s not just pretentious and unrealistic. It’s morally inverted.
All this talk of chocolate cake bars and now I want a Ding Dong . . . fresh from the freezer.

Are you a junk food junkie?
Is that what the kids are calling it these days?
