Friday Ephemera (826)
Modern problems. || They’re behind you. || Do you want to buy a belt? || King of the combover. || Life in a one-loo village, 1970. || An archive of tangible media, from magnets and grooves to coatings and pins. (h/t, Things) || An archive of punch cards. || An archive of vintage cycling publications. || Not in fact harmless, it turns out. || Just call him Daddy. || I’m sure more drag-themed programming will fix that in no time. || Nuts. || Got milk? || Gentlemen callers. || Incoming. || Help incoming. || Answers on a postcard, please. || A three-way interspecies negotiation. || The progressive retail experience, parts 745, 746 and 747. || The thrill of physics. || At last, drag-queen rugby. || A situation is reported. || Diversity has occurred. || At those elegant snuff parties, your nostrils will be revitalised.

Sigh. I’ve used a number of Steves’ travel guides, and found them useful. Though apparently 90% of the work is done by employees, freelancers, and interns.
But this thievery nonsense is absurd, dangerous, and counter-productive.
Any alternative recommendations? Particularly for, say, the region from Czechia to Turkey?

Steves is a nepo-baby?
Nobody from Barstow is any degree of privileged, and selling and tuning pianos isn’t a lucrative pursuit.
Still, he’s one of the more insufferable people around. Watching his programs about touring Europe he just seems like a guy who loves the continent — which is what you want in someone promoting tourism — but then you notice that he frequently talks about enjoying “the good life.”
Which apparently consists of sitting in the outdoor section of a cafe, drinking the local spirits, and watching people go by.
AIM HIGH, BROTHA.
He’s been interviewed on talk radio, and his contempt for conservatives is as overt as he can make it. He thinks that European governance has it ALL figured out, and it’s only the intransigence of conservative ignoramuses that holds us back from perfection.
You really have to wonder about the “lie back and take it” mentality when it comes to criminality. It’s not entirely White guilt. It seems more like casual sadism.
How are you supposed to stop when the world keeps producing material?
I pray for the day this blog dies because the world has sorted itself out sufficiently that there’s nothing left to comment on.
No offense.
Brochure. In bold.
At which point David can pivot to blogging exclusively about whimsical and curious ephemera.
Betcha he doesn’t spend much time in working-class and welfare-class neighborhoods, preferring to ignore those “not the good life” areas.
