Quizzed on her assumptions, Ms Kaplan, a “social media consultant,” says,
And so, not knowing or caring, Ms Kaplan felt entitled to smear a local business, for likes and online clout, with a pre-emptively “unfriendly review,” in which she somehow associates the selling of tacos and carrot cake with “racism, misogyny and paedophilia,” and while describing the opening of a restaurant by two white men as representing “centuries of patriarchy,” and “such a bummer.”
For those of you sturdy enough to endure more of her voice, Ms Kaplan replies to her critics here. Albeit in a rambling and immensely self-flattering manner:

Disdaining strangers, especially men, for being white, as if it were some invalidating condition, isn’t racism, you see, all appearance to the contrary. It’s “punching upwards,” and therefore virtuous, indeed heroic. It’s “speaking truth to power.” And white men as a notional group – including unsuspecting restaurant proprietors – are, it seems, in need of some punching.
Those who suggest otherwise are, and I quote, “fucking idiots.”
Readers may wish to try downing a shot of tequila every time she says “white” in a weary, sneery, but in-no-way-racist way. Inevitably, Ms Kaplan is keen to tell us how she’s “so for real.” “I definitely speak my mind,” says she.
Or at least someone else’s.
I’d need a new liver.
It would, I think, be a challenge.
As illustrated by the opening words of her reply video, in which she pretends not to be another mentally generic racist bint, with a sneering, “Hey, white men.”

I have some bad news for her.

“I definitely speak my mind,” says she, with enormous self-satisfaction. And yet, throughout her wearyingly predictable mouthings, I kept feeling an urge to shout, THOSE AREN’T YOUR THOUGHTS. THAT ISN’T YOUR MIND.
It’s just the programme running.
Though I suppose that fundamental obnoxiousness is quite sincere. The real deal, as it were.

It’s not unlike when you see someone who can’t act. Say, Madonna’s appearance in the Bond film Die Another Day, which I sat through recently. At no point while she’s onscreen does any acting take place. At no point is your disbelief suspended. The character she’s playing is never there. It’s just Madonna in another leather corset.
Analogously, with Ms Kaplan, and despite the pretence of daring and intellectual heft, no actual thinking has occurred. No autonomous mental activity. It’s just regurgitation. It’s as if she bought her entire worldview wholesale, a ready-made attitude, like social jewellery, to save her the effort of all that, you know, thinking.
So like… has she heard about Islam? Grooming gangs?

It’s not just that they are ignorant, but that they are so proud of it and convinced you are the ignorant one.
It’s all so unearned.
It reminds me of a comment I made not too long ago (and that certain people found objectionable): anyone could be Taylor Swift. She is not an exceptional artist. Arguably, what is exceptional to be noticed is how well the industry can invent something like her. But could it had just as easily taken another young woman and create such a machine? Sure. The program provides.
Same with Lily Kaplan here. Ma’am, you’re . . . forgettable. Ironically, she bemoans the opening of yet another White Man restaurant in her area while failing to see she’s just another White Girl self-identified influencer, complete with the “hold the tiny microphone to record” look (is that supposed to signal authenticity, because if so, authenticity is non-existent if it must be signaled). Same look, same script, albeit she isn’t yelling maniacally, which so many of her sisters do when the script is political.
Oh, but she will, eventually.I mean, if your shtick is based on outrage, ya gotta go big or go home.
And a Black woman at that. Maybe the program will churn out another video where the racial disrespect of not getting an extra package of ketchup devolves into chaos.
I will say, however, that I wouldn’t eat there because in a menu of quesadillas, tacos, and chicken tenders, nothing jumps out as something for which I want to spend my money. I think what they are selling is the idea of “Look, you can sit down and have the same type of food you can buy at the snack bar of a public municipal pool, isn’t that fun?”
Mmmm . . . no. Not for the price.
So it’s not the White guys running it that stops me. It’s the banality.
When later pressed for details on her weirdly vehement dislike of the restaurant and its tacos – details oddly absent in her “review” – Ms Kaplan conceded, “I don’t think they are that bad, honestly.”
And so, the basis for her disapproval of the diner is basically that it’s an expression of “white culture” and therefore, in her mind, or in what passes for her mind, an affirmation of “racism, misogyny and paedophilia.”
Okay then.
Apparently, in another video, she also took exception to a small framed photo of one of the co-owners and his two-year-old son, saying, “Your kids hate you and you hate the person taking the photo” – the person taking the photo being the owner’s wife.
Sadly, Ms Kaplan has seen fit to lock down her social media, so we can only wonder what other expressions of her inner loveliness we’re missing.
Again, what’s interesting is just how snugly this kind of progressivism lends itself to the personalities and dysfunctions of fundamentally obnoxious people, not least obnoxious women, which it so often attracts. Why, it’s almost as the politics were devised and propagated by spiteful bitches and then used as a pretext – a skinsuit of piety – by other spiteful bitches.
It’s practically a blueprint for recreational malice.
It’s not the voice, it’s the smug.

Bingo. Girl can’t sing outside of a studio. But it’s similar with a lot of these acts. And not just the teen-pop ones. Airplay is what made so many rock acts over the years and even many of the legitimately good ones had their careers extended by the over promotion of their later, weaker stuff.

This stuff is SO wearying … it’s labels as cudgels used to get people to shutup or be punished by the public. The pedo thing is fairly recent and a bit alarming because, like racist, such people DO exist and by labeling everyone “pedo” because they aren’t sufficiently Leftwing is going to dilute the term into just another slur. AND then it makes the charge when used appropriately something people will shrug their shoulders at.
I don’t know what the specific laws are like in Arizona but that sounds a lot like legally actionable libel. “Racism” and “misogyny” are not well-defined, legally, but falsely accusing someone of a heinous criminal act that carries massive social opprobrium certainly is. If I were these two I’d be calling a lawyer and putting this bint through the sausage grinder until she posts a tearful and abject apology and confession.
Frankly, everything else rises to the level in tortious interference in most jurisdictions.

It’s similar to…or maybe opposite of…The Big Lie. If you commit a crime, commit a big enough crime, and manage to keep it out of the media or public consciousness long enough to, when the truth is revealed no one will want to believe it. It becomes conspiracy theory.
