Unto Others
Lifted from the comments, which you’re reading of course, this strikes me as broadly accurate:
That’s how you get liberals saying stuff like, “oh I’m sure you’d be jumping straight to execution if this were a white guy“ and then every single time a white guy commits a heinous crime the entire right in unison chants, “execute him.”
Or, to take another example, consider the way in which liberals always think that conservatives want and expect immigrants to behave in a certain way just simply because they hate immigrants, when the conservative is merely applying the same standard to which they would hold themselves in a foreign country.
In these cases and many others, liberals are confused by a straightforward and universal conception of justice.
Much of the content here that’s about crime, antisocial behaviour and recreational malice is informed by a fairly visceral dislike of expectations of exemption and immunity – and actual immunity – from normal moral consequences. Consequences that I would expect to befall me, were I sufficiently selfish and unpleasant to engage in similar behaviour.
Likewise, were I to move to a distant country, hoping to flourish, it would not occur to me to behave as these vibrant newcomers do. Or in ways seen quite vividly here. Were I to repeatedly violate the values and decencies of the indigenous, as if I owed nothing to those on whom I impose – as if their values, their expectations of reciprocation, were contemptible – then I would very much expect my welcome to be withdrawn.
And quite promptly.
Update, via the comments:

Indeed. The convolutions of which, we’ve poked at before.
While Chow Bag quips,
Well, yes. There does seem to be a lot of frantic, rather neurotic calculation as to whether normal rules should apply, depending on the pigmentation or cross-dressing tendencies of the perpetrator, to whom indulgence must be extended. If you squint and pretend. If you perform the necessary contortions.
And so, we arrive at scenes like this, or these, in which malevolent bedlamites, beings clearly driven by spite, expect to be spared normal consequences, to which the rest of us would be subject, and merrily exploit their assumptions of immunity. Behaving in ways that, for anyone else, would likely result in a good kicking.
Needless to say, this is not a recipe for a fragrant tomorrow.

But, but IDENTITY EXEMPTIONS!
Progressive ’empathy’…

Boils down to leftists believe in goals, conservatives favor systems. For the true conservative, very limited systems. Well, that and leftists lie about everything. Because the goal is most important.
I’ve not seen many progressives with actual principles. It’s usually just about who’s doing it and who it’s being done to.
DeCarlos Brown had a long history of violent crimes, in addition to being diagnosed with schizophrenia. More than enough to justify locking him up, and yet he kept getting put back on the street. At one time the courts were wise enough to lock up clearly dangerous people before they killed anyone.

Needless to say, this is not a recipe for a fragrant tomorrow.
Oh – it’ll be fragrant, all right – overwhelmingly so.
Just not pleasantly fragrant.
There are two factors at work besides the leftist ones. One is the shift toward emotional thinking (feminization of discourse). The other is the decline in the ability to think coherently. English and history profs have noted that the ability of their students to read a paragraph (let alone a whole book) has cratered and even worse if you ask them to write something. These two trends mean that those uttering and hearing political statements or about crime etc can only feel the emotional vibe, and not what the statement implies or causes. Thus “$20 min wage” sounds great but puts people out of work. “from the river to the sea” becomes a slogan where the hearer does not hear the genocide in that statement. So if you try to argue with that slogan, the college student speaker does not even understand what they themselves just said, never mind your argument.
As someone notes in the replies, it would make a fairly strong password.

Lenin reduced it to this simple phrase: “Who, whom” (кто кого).
The Old Ways.
The retreat of actual, traditional Christianity and Judaism. I’m not talking about the fake stuff like James Talarico’s “progressive Xtianity” (a perfect example of IowaHawk’s take on how the Left guts institutions and wears them like a skinsuit). I’m talking about the old-fashioned local churches and synagogues who based teaching kids on the Bible, ran schools, ran programs to feed the local poor, and preached from a justice-based theology.
Kids were given rules to follow because when we are little, we have no innate sense of right/wrong, good/evil. Our parents have to civilize us and the community was there to reinforce those rules — especially the religious community we belonged to.
And I will NOT include Islam in this at all, because, regardless of the “Abrahamic religion” designation some give it, it has little to do with Christianity or Judaism except the burning desire to stomp those religions and their followers out of existence.
Which is why the Left makes common cause with them, thinking they’re smarter than the tool they use to get rid of Judeo-Christian/Western civ for their idea of utopia.
Leftists are rarely confused by “justice”, they just don’t have much use for it when it falls against their preferred allies.
The lady doth protest too much.
There’s a lot going on there. None of it good.
Still processing the idea of men wanting to touch her in the “dirty south.”
Is that what the kids are calling it these days?
Band name. Just in case it is what the kids are calling it.
Instalanch. Now is a good time to bring out the really old bar snacks.
LOL. I need context. And a drink.
You know, I’m not entirely sure there’s any conceivable context that would make it less… well, how it is.
I’d just have the drink, frankly.
I’m carefully considering the merits of a gin and tonic myself.

Dirty South? How about some southern culture on the skids?
That was art.
Enrichissement.
It was the ghetto-bonnet-plus-spade-plus-flying-kick combo.
Today’s word, since you ask, is anthropology.
I’m not sure I’m ready for more than 14 seconds of… whatever that was.
The Dead South in her case (already a band name).

I would have suggested a different south.

At least she understands that she’s engaging in aposematism.
Toilet paper commercial of note.
If you haven yet (sorry, just discovered the blog and haven’t checked the archives) you should read the 1997 essay by Theodore dalrymple.

Friend, I hate to say it, but you’d be much better off trying these.

In the authentic dim sum restaurants around here, deep fried chicken feet is a staple menu item. At a large gathering once I ordered them, on the grounds that no one ever orders them and hey, maybe they’re actually really good but we don’t know because everyone’s put off by the name.
They are not good. They are horrible in a way that just attempting to describe makes me nauseous.
So they taste as bad as they smell?
