As is the custom here, posting will be intermittent over the holidays and readers are advised to follow me on X, or subscribe to the blog feed at the very bottom of the page, either of which will alert you to anything new as and when it materialises.
Thanks for another 1.5 million or so visits this year and thousands of comments, many of which prompted discussions that are much more interesting than the actual posts. Which is pretty much the idea.
And particular thanks to all those who’ve made PayPal, Ko-Fi, or SubscribeStar donations to keep this rickety barge above water. It’s much appreciated. Should you be gripped by a seasonal urge to express encouragement via currency, by all means use the buttons below this post.
Just think of my little face lighting up.
Curious newcomers and those with nothing better to do are welcome to rummage through the Reheated series in search of entertainment. You may find things you’d missed. And this, needless to say, is an open thread.
To you and yours, a very good one.
UPDATE: This may be a hoax: The teacher mentioned in the article, Miranda Hopkins, is not on the school website’s staff directory. See this Community Note.
Woman burned alive
Lord, have mercy. That is horrific.
I’ll take Things That Never Happen for $100, Alex.
The student body of Rhodes College, sheltered from vulgar modern life, continues to live according to old-fashioned culture and chivalry. Lauren is a young black woman who’s evidently never heard black music lyrics, and it’s regretful, not to mention reprehensible, repugnant and racist, that she was exposed to those pieces of paper.
Nevertheless, even the hate criminals of Rhodes College are better informed than the stereotypical dudebro/redneck who can be assumed to know nothing and hate indiscriminately. How many college students even know that the National Pan-Hellenic Council is an organization of black fraternities/sororities? Having their own Plaza plastered with papers is an intriguing mark of respect, one might say a back-handed compliment to the Council and its members.
Trusting your Screed to pieces of paper which could be lost in a gust of wind or thrown in the trash by the first person who saw them, that’s bad tactics if you’re trying to rationally maximize the Spewing of Hate, but by God it’s a romantic caprice. And just to show the Corinthian spirit of fair play that governs community relations in the college, the finder preserved the pieces of paper and gave the hate criminals their 15 minutes of fame. By the way, was the finder by any chance a member of the National Pan-Hellenic Council?
Woman burned alive
NY Post story. The guy sitting there is the f**king suspect. But please, who’s the sick f*ck filming this? I have to think at some point she was screaming and no one stepped up.
JFC. My hometown is a cesspool.
Was the perp a Michael Jackson impersonator?
It seems much more likely Lauren has heard black music lyrics & has learned to compartmentalise her outrage.
They have arrested him: Sebastian Zapeta.
Yet another “migrant”. Gosh. I am so surprised. /sarcasm
Mascot minority.
Meanwhile at Chipotle….
Voters should be demanding to know how this can be concealed.
Shades of Chicago Dem politician brain-dead after a stroke but kept on the ballot.
That’s my representative.
Meanwhile:
Pronouns in bio, obviously.
Are they trying to make fascism look appealing?
And in erotic innovation news.
AIUI, she had stepped down from her committee seat in March and did not run in 2024, so she wasn’t on the ballot. Though it seems extremely odd. Surely her staff knew, just no one bothered to ask?
How to become the most hated man in America. Stay classy, Ohio.
[I’d like to think he will be identified, and Tennessee State Troopers will circulate a description of his car and plates throughout the state’s various agencies so should he ever decide to cross the border . . .]
This is why it is so important to speak up. Of course even discussing speaking up is silly until the “smart” people come up with a fancy term like preference falsification, so they can separate themselves from the hoi polloi. Don’t wanna be seen as gauche and stuff.
A troll. Needs to meet some billygoats.
I think we should take a moment to think about those poor, lost souls currently trying to find a parking space at the local supermarket, while desperately clutching a list of last-minute Christmas groceries.
Robbers setting victims on fire is a recurring thing. And the perps are usually black.
A recurring thought: Let’s talk about capital disposal, not capital punishment.
The much higher rates of schizophrenia and psychosis being factors, I would guess.
I don’t know much about that difference, but I’m sure that it’s being blamed on racism. But given the shortage of real racism in America, any social/cultural causes must be rooted in black cultural pathologies and the left’s constant drumbeat of false racism accusations. And then there’s the question of whether biology plays a significant role.
A banned books LOL.
‘I’ll thcream and thcream ’till I’m thick!’
Nearly all of the “banned books” people I have known were “liberals” who were perfectly fine with conservative books being banned. Because it’s not book-banning when the books contain the “wrong” opinions and the “wrong” facts.

Imagine the sigh of relief when you get uninvited to a vegan’s wedding.
Shortly before 2020, maybe 2018 or so, there was a video of a teenage boy and a teenage girl going through their school’s library, selecting books by prominent conservative authors and tossing them into bins that they then tossed into a dumpster. All with smirky, ha-ha attitude grins on their faces. Pretty sure they were in the St. Petersburg area. I went looking for that recently but was unable to find it. Bloody sick of this idiotic topic in general. Nothing is getting banned. But you can’t tell liberals or even one’s idiot conservative…”conservative” friends that. Bloody morons. You’d think that with all the books that they claim to have read, that they would understand these things. Makes one wonder what books are bloody good for in the first place. Smart people. Smaaaaart.
Banned books: what started the shrieking a couple years ago was that in Florida there was an effort to remove sexually explicit books from school libraries. This was what they wanted to stop. Books illustrating blow jobs, men with boys, masturbation. You know, “educational books”.
Recent. Recent shrieking. The bien pensants have been carrying on about ‘banned’ books for some time.
These books here.
Strictly scientific! Get ready!

The progressive retail experience, Christmas edition.
Ho ho ho.
“Why are such a large fraction of American blacks convicted felons?”
I like a happy ending.
Smart appliances.
Smart appliances.
Of course the author of that probably has a phone loaded down with apps that are sending the same info to China because he, she, or they has never bothered to check the permissions for the apps. I was going to sideload a compass APK but couldn’t figure out why the hell it would need access to stored media and contacts.
The secret is either to buy dumb stuff, or “smart” stuff that also has buttons, dials, knobs, and things that go “ding” as God intended.
Have an acquaintance, something of an early adopter, who found it hard to turn his ‘smart’ lights on when his internet connection went South.
“smart” appliances: it escapes me why I would need a smart refrigerator or stove. Do you really want your fridge to be in charge of notifying you that you need milk?
Twits keep misreprenting the Tik Tok fandango. It is not about censorship. It is about spying. All tiktok has to do is find new owners.
So another question for the Canadians…bumped into a Trump-admiring Canadian on a FB Not The Bee post. She said she notices that Poullevireuereere steers away from the trans and school issues. Does this appear to be the case? It’s about the most bloody obvious problem normal society is facing. Not the biggest per se, but wtsf? It’s a much clearer issue than socialism or other forms of tyranny. It’s the worst manifestation of tyranny in respect to free speech, however. Is he really afraid of that issue? I believe I indicated earlier here that the Canadian we met on the beach kinda looked away when I mentioned the issue the other day. Not sure how to interpret that now.
The only movie riffed thrice: by the original MST3K (Joel era), Rifftrax, and Cinematic Titanic.
There are videos and still-shots of the woman burning on the subway. People are shocked that no one tried to help her.
And yet, by the time anyone could have helped her, she was burned over the majority of her body. I’m not sure I’d want to survive that. Maybe people figured it was a mercy to let it go.
Buffalo Bill vibes, Tyra Banks forehead.
I think Poilievre sees that the trans issue isn’t worth highlighting right now – his base is solidly on-side with protecting kids, the left and their media representatives are equally on-side with exposing them to harm, and bringing it up now gives the Liberals and the Globe and Mail (and CBC, CTV, etc) another stick to beat him with, and to repeat all the lies abouit the suicide risk for “trans” kids who don’t get surgically mutilated.
Trudeau’s personal popularity is so far in the tank, and taking his party’s with it, that the next official opposition will likely be a party whose manifesto is that the country should be broken up. Poilievre just wants to sit tight and not draw attention to himself, and let Justin continue to screw things up.
I don’t want anyone criticizing me for bringing in a good book if this is allowed to be a thing.
Maybe people figured it was a mercy to let it go.
A nice thought, but I doubt anyone, especially the clown filming with the typical “Yo, yo, yo” grunting, or the others apparently just casually diddy bopping by has the capacity to think that.
We’ve all seen videos of incidents and crimes in which many bystanders video the action but none step in to render aid.
England, WTF? [ Stares across the Atlantic. ]
