But it occurs to me that she was threatened by sociopaths that if she didn’t fight him she would be destroyed — she would lose everything. Supporting my thesis is the apology she was forced to make. IOW, she was made several offers that she couldn’t refuse.

People keep saying this as if it’s not more than a bit overwrought. Nobody was threatening to…kill her. By stepping into the ring at all she was putting herself, her very life in danger. To lose “everything”? No.
Some convoluted/conflicting info on this but here’s the (current) wiki summary:

On 1 August, she faced Imane Khelif in a bout that sparked intense debate within the boxing community. During the match, Carini, after receiving a punch in the face, signaled for her headgear to be checked and eventually withdrew from the fight after 46 seconds. Carini’s reaction to abandoning the boxing match spawned scrutiny and a transvestigation of Khelif, who was assigned female at birth.

Carini’s coach later commented on concerns regarding her safety, highlighting the controversy surrounding the International Olympic Committee (IOC)’s decision to allow Khelif to compete. The IOC, however, defended their decision to allow both boxers to compete, criticizing the International Boxing Association (IBA)’s actions as “sudden and arbitrary”.

Carini later apologised to Khelif, stating: “I want to apologize to her and everyone else. I was angry because my Olympics had gone up in smoke. I don’t have anything against Khelif. If I were to meet her again, I would embrace her.” The day after the fight, the IBA decided to award Carini the same amount of prize money, a sum of $100,000, typically reserved for the Olympic champion; the offer, however, was not accepted.

The IBA had been the recognized governing body for boxing by the IOC until this gender crap came up. Either way, there are things in life much more important than medals. Women have to fight this stuff themselves by refusing to participate.

They’re not claiming to be trans. It’s likely they were born with a disorder of sexual development wherein they have XY chromosomes but their genitalia didn’t form properly, such as testes not descending into a scrotum. 

Everyone assumed they were girls, and that’s how they were raised, but at puberty their testes, still nestled in the abdomen, pumped out massive amounts of T, so they went through male puberty. 

So legally they’re women, but in fact they’re not.

This right here is the problem that gets lost (somewhat) on the right. And the left, and their d-bag media allies, are being very coy with the information. They use the “assigned female at birth” mantra without explicitly explaining the details. They let the confusion fester so they can spring a Gotcha! later. AIUI…now…or so the unreliable parties say…he visibly, externally in his genital region does appear as female. He does have a very unusual and specific defect. Supposedly. Of course it is impossible to show this because that would of course be wrong. Convenient as that is, it should be irrelevant. The relevant matter here is that his body, his frame, his muscular physique, etc is male because, as genetic testing indicated, he fundamentally has xy chromosomes.
All of this points to, as Daniel Ream frequently indicates, the more fundamental quasi-absurdity of women’s sports. Much of it, especially the sports in which men clearly dominate, only exists as a pandering to women. That said , if women sports are to survive, the classifications would technically be better defined as non-y-chromosome division and an open division. Which should not be a problem but of course, what fun would that be?
