Friday Ephemera (726)
So how was your day at work, dear? || Some difficulty with heels. || Some difficulty with language. || “Decolonisation” dilemma: “A University of Oxford museum will not display an African mask because the culture which created it forbids women from seeing it.” || How the Dutch will take over the world. || My, how you’ve grown. || Sound on for title sequence. || Customer service. || Hazard sign. || Incoming. || This is London, 1981. || Scenes of enrichment. || Tricky manoeuvre. || Compressed towels. || Solving the three-stroller problem. || Today’s word is parenting. || The progressive retail experience, parts 557, 558, 559, and 560. || Always roller your squirrel. || The wheezing motor noise is particularly erotic. || And finally, in a friendly way, your French teacher says hi.

Both the obesity and the tats are manifestations of self-harm. They’re evidently trauma-eating as a way to build up layers of physical protection around themselves. They look awful and they know it. Anyone who “fat shames” is threatening their security blanket, so they lash out.
Some manage to work through the trauma and get a handle on their weight, but others languish in the delusion that “fatphobia” is the problem, not their trauma, and they don’t live long enough to enter recovery.
In the meantime, too many normies become enablers by buying into the fat-phobia narrative. It’s a terrible cycle.
Once, some doctors helped a group of morbidly obese people get down to a normal weight. A lot of them reported feeling exposed, unprotected, and unsafe.
If you don’t understand why someone would uglify themselves like that, it’s probably self-harm.

I’ve become deaf from the constant shelling.
Mr Carruthers as part of his appeal should demand a DNA test from the trannie to prove that it is a male and therefore could not be misgendered.
Or she could just, you know, lose some weight. Instead of all of the dishonest, self-destructive horseshit that fools applaud as ‘activism’.
Works for me.
Why would we care?
Or, put another way, why would we care?
She’s got more tats than Queequeg.
More displacement than the Pequod…

I totally believe some rando took a swing in a public place at a guy that size. Also next to the picture my browser is showing an Ozempic™ ad. a total coincidence, I am sure…
And this being the AP, almost every paragraph contains an attempt to deceive:
The “book about gender identity” linked in the article is, of course, the item discussed at some length here, along with its unhinged and shamelessly dishonest author, Maia Kobabe. And hey, using dysmorphic cartoon pornography to teach other people’s 11-year-old children about the joys of “vagina slime,” “strap-on hotness,” and masturbating while driving… without their parents knowledge or consent… well, what possible basis for objection could there be?
…well, what possible basis for objection could there be?
The world is filled with hateful haters committing hateful hate crimes just because of hate – all the justification they need for objection.
We really don’t disdain the media class anywhere near enough.

It did actually happen. There’s a link in the article to the details. Apparently the attacker also tried to run over people in the library parking lot.
That said, it’s a valid point that so many of these reports are at best exaggerated and at worst totally fictional that the default reaction has become “oh, bullshit”.
Given the details of the library in question let slip in the article, this sounds like it deserves the Jamestown treatment: just shut the whole damn thing down.
That cannot be said too often.

Great. I’ve had that one reserved in my back pocket for 30 years to get away from all this BS. Might I suggest a more entertaining alternative? We could use drones to make a reality show out of it. We could use the revenues from the show to pay reparations to the victims. Surely I’m not the only one who has thought about this.
Would watch.
Ladies, are you ready to be re-educated?
The caring, compassionate, Left.
I consulted a Chinese woman. She says the dumpling-lady is saying each dog’s name + “one for you” colloquially shortened to one word. But it’s not Mandarin and possibly not Chinese at all, except for a few phrases.
Good man. We expect an annotated transcript by the end of the day.
[ Starts countdown. ]
We know what the left ends up doing when it starts talking about “re-education”.
Transcripts (with annotations, forsooth! That’s extra.) are available at $2250 per page. Payable only in gold, .9999 fine, delivered to our agents at

There’s the drink prices up again.
I like the way you think, sir.
For the first time this year, I have made use of ice cubes.

Definitely a Cask of Amontillado vibe. The creepy facial expression gives the game away. The wedding dress is a cheap diversion.
Had you misplaced the recipe?

I don’t know what y’all are on about, I thought for a minute there I was watching this.
Sounds like a great idea, I wonder what is in it…
Nothing says “healthy communities” quite like free crack kits and meth pipes, too bad the naloxone doesn’t work on either of those.
Things you like to see…I am guessing from the crowd comments they are not exactly winning supporters.
Your terms are acceptable.
Meh. Who’s in the crowd? Maybe a few thousand people. Their allies in the media and academia, who have already done so much to praise this kind of behavior from the 1960’s onward, will ultimately carry the day. Unless the conservatives…”conservatives”…are willing to open their pie holes, not just now but for at least a few weeks by condemning, mocking, and being belligerent in the faces of any such people. But that won’t happen. Because decorum. If we don’t surrender to this idiocy, by pushing back “we’re just giving them the attention that they seek”. Heads they win, tails we lose. Unless we start playing the game the Chicago way. But of course, this case isn’t the hill to die on. None of them are, really.
“Always be the Brit the Russians imagine you to be.”
Ever run into this mindset?
Father of teen criminal is outraged:
So his son is a career criminal. Getting shot by the police was going to happen sooner or later. But the father seems unconcerned about the boy’s criminality. Welcome to Milwaukee, where being a criminal is a way of life for many blacks, and liking criminals even more so.
Nothing says “healthy communities” quite like free crack kits and meth pipes,
Thank god there’s no soda, candy or salty snacks. Those things will kill you. We’re Canadians, we care too much.
They will just dismiss that argument. They’ve redefined gender so it has no relation to biology and is more real than biology.
Well, you’d think that the repeated arrests, the armed carjackings, etc., might prompt some fatherly reflection and, oh, I don’t know, parenting. But apparently all of the mental effort goes into displacing responsibility. As is the custom.
I like how you think.
Not a flattering picture, but one that needs to be seen and discussed rather than denied.
All too typical ghetto mentality:
We can be certain that the father does not really disapprove of his son’s criminality.
And it is likely that the father is himself a criminal.
Related: Dad dies after being trapped under car for hours — and bystanders robbed him instead of helping
Robbing helpless victims of accidents is a recurring “feature” of ghetto life.
John Derbyshire’s “The Talk” comes to mind.
One more time. It’s easy to forget just how degenerate the degenerate can be.
One of the purposes of a university education is to build a toolkit of ways to explain away the degeneracy.
Of note:
“Progressives view children as sexual beings and independent from their parents.”
I seem to recall libertarians share that view.
Just another day in Australia.
It does appear that the sexual exploitation of children is widely accepted in “the gay community”. But just how widely?
David, do you have insights based on the people you have known, met, worked with?
I was never meaningfully part of “the gay community,” the notion of which I disliked, even as a hormonal youth. I merely brushed against it, as it were, while visiting a few clubs. Though my limited interactions with people who would regard themselves as members of said “community” do suggest a disregard for normal proprieties. Say, regarding age.
I can’t vouch for everything in Chad Felix Greene’s post – I simply don’t know enough to comment in any detail. But based on the little I did see, and hear about, I wouldn’t be enormously surprised.
Thank you, David. Much appreciated.
I wonder if this disregard may be a common feature of many marginal “communities”. I certainly noticed various forms of this in the “fan” communities I encountered. Far from universal but also far from rare.
