Womenfolk, Know Your Place
An adult biological male who identifies as a woman edged out a 13-year-old girl to take first place in a women’s skateboarding contest held in New York Saturday.
Sometimes reality is a little too on-the-nose.
Update, via the comments, where Melofon adds,
Ben Shapiro’s Daily Wire takes a brave stand in favour of … the tradition and competitive integrity of the sport of women’s skateboarding. Opening itself up to the (correct) rebuttal that it has no interest in skateboarding or women in skateboarding, and is only covering it to pick on the tranny.
Well, I doubt that ladies’ skateboarding is a regular topic of conversation at the Daily Wire, or among its readers, but the particulars of the sport are not the thing that’s most interesting. There is a wider context, of which the above is very much part. I would guess that readers are more likely to be interested in the pretence that unwell men can become women, seemingly by dint of wishing, and are therefore to be admitted, unopposed, into women’s sports and women’s intimate spaces. The Daily Wire’s readers may even regard this trend, correctly, as pretentious, unrealistic, and unhappy in its implications.
To register this phenomenon – and its wide and rapid spread – as noteworthy is rather more than, as Melofon puts it, picking on the tranny.
More details of the skateboarding saga can be found here.
Readers will note that several wins by dysmorphic men have occurred in women’s skateboarding, and that female players who aren’t entirely happy with this arrangement find themselves assailed by trans activists for daring to complain. Again, the issue isn’t ladies’ skateboarding as such, but rather the ongoing and widespread efforts to normalise something that’s quite odd, one might say surreal, and often unjust.
If another example is required, one that shows, quite vividly, just how awry things can get…
Note that, being scrupulously woke, the women’s shelter sided, quite emphatically, with the male interloper. A man who is seriously mentally ill, who boasts of stabbing people and is very excited by the thought of poisoning the water supply, and who seems to enjoy taunting the abused women with whom he shares a space by making sure they see his erection.
Despite what would seem to be a full board of flashing red lights, the woke administrators denounced criticism of their policy – and concern for the actual women subjected to his proximity – as “transphobic.” Concerns regarding the inaptness of his presence, and its implications for the women’s safety at a time of vulnerability, were dismissed as unworthy of acknowledgement: “We refuse to engage in a dialogue that gives a platform to transphobic groups or individuals or otherwise does damage to women who are transgender.” Instead, the shelter’s administrators insisted, proudly, on being “non-judgmental.”
It would, I think, be a plausible premise for a psychological horror film. Not one I’d care to watch, mind you, but still.
And if someone, or an entire institution, can be fundamentally compromised on something so glaringly obvious, with the sociopathy staring them in the face, where is the upper limit of all this pious pretending? What bridge would be too far?
Update 2:
And no, the above is not some one-off aberration.
Consider this an open thread. Share ye links and bicker.
What makes it even crazier, is that by simply existing a corp is already “doing good”.
I shake my head at these fools who think it is not enough for a company to hire people based solely on their skills–that they must have hiring and promotion quotas based on race (and eventually sexuality, non-Christian religion, etc.) What could be more corrupting? Or harmful to the competitive strength of the company? Not to mention fostering resentment and other pathologies by rewarding people out of proportion to their merit.
Oh, BTW and OT …
Top Gun: Maverick
What a great movie!! This sequel, IMHO, exceeds the original. And it is the great, grand, big screen experience that has been SO lacking in the last few years. Everything is pitch perfect.
I’m definitely going back to the theater to see it again. Wow.
I’m definitely going back to the theater to see it again.
I never saw the original film, so I passed. I am, though, looking forward to the forthcoming Mission: Impossible two-parter. The last three in the series have been great fun.
Worth your read, A Message From The Left.
I never saw the original film,
Neither had my husband. It’s running on Amazon Prime video right now so we watched it over the weekend. He thought it was a good movie but a tad formula. After seeing Maverick, he agrees that the sequel is even better.
Another thing I really like is that the flying sequences are real, not CGI. The actors are sitting in the 2nd seat of the F18s with cameras so staged they look like they’re piloting and it’s Navy pilots really taking them through the paces. You can practically feel the g forces through the screen. You just can’t fake how a body reacts during the climbs, dives, rolls these actors went through.
Worth your read, A Message From The Left.
Naomi Wolf has a similar message.
…management…
This article was interesting:
https://www.city-journal.org/wokeness-the-highest-stage-of-managerialism
“The core thesis of James Burnham’s 1941 The Managerial Revolution helps explain what is happening in the West today.”
“…a class of managers that would come to control the real economy, regardless of formal ownership status.”
Worth your read, A Message From The Left.
That should read “To The Left”.
pst314: hiring based on nepotism or being buddies with someone (unions) or based on spouting the right ideology (communism, socialism) leads to huge inefficiencies. Unions end up costing twice as much and take twice as long to do a job. Sometimes they extend work by years (NYC subway tunnels, big dig boston). A society that is not efficient is poorer. Lots poorer. Rank incompetence can be deadly too. We hired an incompetent plumber back in college and the water heater he fixed had an exhaust pipe into a chimney full of bricks. The water heater exploded. Fortunately no one was home. We currently have rainbow diversity people running a bunch of federal agencies just because they are gay or trans, and they are grossly incompetent. don’t know beans.
Re the skateboarding story, ‘from something they haven’t chosen to defend themselves against’ is fairly clearly untrue, as there are female skateboarders speaking out about the issue. As for skateboarding ‘not being a real sport,’ it is an individual sport, like surfing, skiing, snowboarding, motorsports, that requires skill in which there is no team to fall back on, and thus has little appeal to the ball-sport fanatics. The X Games are an attempt to market many of the individual ‘extreme sports,’ whether or not the ‘flailing’ around appeals to all, or earns one enough to purchase weed is of little concern. The activity is often undertaken for the simple pleasure of doing so, to not comprehend this and to denigrate the athletes says much.
Naomi Wolf has a similar message.
Ms. Wolf comes close but if she made this point I missed it as I kinda skimmed through the latter half. And this is the BIG point that I have seen ZERO conservatives hit. I’m sure someone out there besides myself must have hit on this and written about it but if so it hasn’t been replicated to where I have seen it. This overturn of RvW is even more the fault of the hard, extreme pro-choice crowd because had the Mississippi law, one that is much more in line with what the vast majority are fine with, pro-choice and those ok with first trimester (not sure if there’s a specific category for these people even though just this group is probably > 50%)…a law very much in line with what many countries in Europe have and even less restrictive than some…if that law had not been challenged, we would effectively have legal abortions up to 15 weeks or whatever the MS law stated. But no. The left could not let that stand. They had to take this case to the SCOTUS when it was bloody obvious they had a conservative leaning court. It should be bloody obvious who is to blame for driving this at this point and even more bloody obvious what the overall intent is. But will conservatives…”conservatives” use this opportunity to bash the left? No. The overwhelming spiking of the football that is going on, while some of it being understandable after a 50 year fight, but the rush right now is to push banning all abortions from conception. This being a long-term losing position. After much hysteria and putting the slam-dunk 2022 mid-terms to some extent at risk, they will lose. I pray that DeSantis does not take the bait and sticks to letting the legislature deal with the existing/pending(?) rollback from 24 to 15 weeks or something similar down to 12 weeks, which is what most people agree with.
That’s funny!
Did you ever read about https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Rufus_Shafter? Being obese as a general hasn’t meant that you were a de-facto shitty general in well over a century.
The margin between success and failure of most corporations is thin…
…and that is why the charlatans who push this never-ending parade of nonsense find their last refuge in government at its various levels and dig in like ticks.
That’s funny!
Thx. General Burkhalter was one of my favorite characters from that show. How his cheeks and numerous chins would shake when he so frequently barked at Klink. And that actor was still not as huge as this guy. Back then I didn’t realize Burkhalter was likely a caricature of Herman Goering. But then again, it wasn’t until just now that I realized that ‘caricature’ does not have an ‘h’ in it…and bloody spellcheck had no idea what I was getting at…but I digress…
Interesting about Gen Shafter but it does seem he had a rather glorious career before settling down to 3, 4, 5 decent meals a day. But could Gen. Shafter throw back a liter of vodka a day? Hmmm? I got lost trying to find any other info on this Russian General Pavel. Many other Russian/Czech/Ukrainian warriors by that name whose ghosts probably would not be flattered in being associated with him even if just by name. Best line from the comments in the NY Post article: He is a highly respected warrior who served in Meal team 6.
“motorsports, that requires skill in which there is no team to fall back on, ”
Ok, that’s funny right there, crew chief…

Maybe if he’s 4’5″.
That’s journalism for you. I bet it is 280 kilograms.
As for skateboarding ‘not being a real sport,’
Sports are entertainment, period. The prizes in a sport are a direct reflection of how much people are willing to spend to watch that sport. This is why competitive Street Fighter IV leagues, cup stacking, and skateboarding are not real sports: the prizes are worth less than the equipment required to participate.
@WTP, you could read https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/284419.The_Bear_Went_Over_the_Mountain to get an idea about how the USSR handled things in the ‘Stan back in the day. If you haven’t been in the Army (or Marines), it won’t be an especially easy read.
As for General Shafter, I could point to ISBN 0-253-31075-0 “The Art of War: Waterloo to Mons” by William McElwee which contains lines such as
He did a good job of managing the Cuban portion of that particular conflict. Make of that what you will.
That would require 50 individual state level pushes since the Supreme Court indicated that this isn’t an issue that falls under federal remit.
Even Canada doesn’t have federal abortion laws; it’s up to their provinces.
Even Canada doesn’t have federal abortion laws; it’s up to their provinces.
That doesn’t stop Turdeau from pretending like we do and also pretending that said laws are in danger at any moment from being overthrown by the Conservative Party of Canada. His favourite golf club is the wedge.

Not so great here in the States, either.

Trans activists are their own worst enemies.
it’s up to their provinces.
Ehhh, that’s not quite how it works. More accurately, Canada has no abortion laws whatsoever – they were struck down in their entirety via the Morgentaler decision.
The various provinces have regulations, and the provincial medical colleges have their own codes &c., but there’s no criminal restrictions at all. Provinces can’t create their own criminal laws, that’s exclusively federal jurisdiction. So a doctor could potentially lose their license or be fined by their college or something but that’s about it.

You will pretend, or else.
Ladies, meet Tyler.
But remember, this never happens.

…..and in the “defending the indefensible” corner we have Dr Fern Riddell, although in this context the title doctor* is doing so much heavy lifting it’s been shortlisted for the Olympics. Still we are required to take notice because a doctor is speaking.

Infested with wokeness and its deranging consequences, a hard reboot does seem in order.
And yet.

Oh wait, event is being run by antifa, so I guess it is OK, “kids will be partnered with a trans or queer photographer for a 30 to 45 minute photoshoot in the park”. (caution for some of the pix even if they are pixelated)
None dare call it grooming…
A new Tom Cruise movie: Bottom Gun.
Feel the cultural enrichment.
But we are not permitted to notice how Western societies have been changed for the worse by immigration.
Feel the cultural enrichment.
Somewhat related.
In answer to Becca’s question, unfortunately, yes.
“cultural enrichment”: you see, it is known that all cultures are equal, except that white culture is the worst. One may not criticize or even compare non-white societies. We are not permitted to know about crime rates in Mexico or Africa or anywhere. Art etched in rocks is equally as good as the Mona Lisa. The fact that no society in South America or Africa has managed to keep a government without violently overthrowing it or devolving into anarchy is simply not relevant to welcoming all to come here. Venezuela is wonderful: their leader says so. Likewise Cuba. You haters.

Thx. That’s a bit of a rabbit hole. The first or second story related how they telegraphed their going on some missions by holding an outdoor elaborate arms and supply inspection. Seems something that would have helped the Russians in this war more so than that one. Makes me wonder if for all their faults the Soviets were not better disciplined than the current Russian military. Maybe back then if you did steal stuff you didn’t have anyone to sell it too. At least not without significant risk to your life on either the buying or selling ends.
Feel the cultural enrichment.

I remember that thread, including the drive-by comments by Revelation who fortunately never returned.
As for Adam Kotsko’s tweet that “The only reason to be upset about demographic change is if you’re a racist”, well, then it is also racist for him to be pleased about demographic change, yes?
I’m not going to bother to revisit Kotsko’s evil indifference to the harmful consequences of the demographic change he applauds.
(Furthermore, I’m certain that he is very selective in these matters, and gets publicly outraged when the “wrong” sort of demographic change happens, such as prosperous white people gentrifying poor black neighborhoods.)
IIRC, United Way in Illinois supported….Planned Parenthood.
And then acted like they couldn’t understand how people might object to being forced to give at work!
“I don’t care about your firmly held religious beliefs, I’ve gotta quota to meet!”
Not one I’d care to watch, mind you, but still.
You already did. This:
is literally the Joker. Clownworld, indeed.
A favourite round these parts, eminent authorene, cultural commentator and mucus connoisseur Laurie Penny, continues on her mission to educate and elucidate. We really don’t deserve her.
Penny: she objects to those who want words to have single meanings, as if a desire to be able to communicate clearly is a bad thing. From a person who communicates for a living. hah
We really don’t deserve her.
Despite her evident craving for intellectual status, Laurie has real trouble fitting things together in a remotely coherent way. Even the expectation of coherence, as a thing one might aim for, doesn’t seem to come naturally to her.
is literally the Joker.
Well, yes. And so, again, the question. Where’s the upper limit of all this pretending?
IIRC, United Way in Illinois supported….Planned Parenthood.
I believe you are correct.
And then acted like they couldn’t understand how people might object to being forced to give at work!
In the early 80’s, United Way began allowing donors to specify what charities would receive their money, but IIRC people remained suspicious, knowing that United Way could compensate for any “deplorable” donor preferences by reallocating all general donations to suit their ideological biases. I certainly would not trust them.
the women’s shelter sided, quite emphatically, with the male interloper
I have some direct experience with the women’s shelter network in Canada. Like most charity gigs, helping its clients is not even remotely part of its agenda. It’s a make-work program for otherwise unemployable radical feminists. Their internal “counselling” programs damage their clients even more by encouraging them to see all men as The Enemy and keep them in a perpetual state of “I am a Victim, see how damaged I am”. Most of the employees and a fair number of the bureaucrats are former clients.
They’ve simply figured out that to keep the government funding going, they have to spout the Party Line, which right now in Canada is that a single dysmorphic beats a full house, rape victims over battered women.
(And anything beats a straight.)
