The Mystery That Is Me
Meanwhile, in theological news:
He describes drag as a spiritual experience that allows him to connect with God. “Drag allows me to process the mystery of myself, the mystery of God, the mystery of love, and the mystery of pain,” he said. “When I walk the streets in six-inch heels and wear four pounds of hair, double-stacked wigs, the power which lies within my mystery is released into the world.”
When not releasing his mystery into the world, associate pastor Mr Isaac Simmons, aka Ms Penny Cost, performs slam poetry.
Also, open thread.
A new Aquinas has come amongst us.
And in other religious news:
Douglas Murray on the film critics of Bradford.
And in Sheffield, the modern cineaste.
’…word went round these various local communities that the film portrays the aforementioned Muhammad and his family. A petition calling for it to be banned gathered more than 120,000 signatures.’
And how many ‘x’ and thumbprints?
“When I walk the streets in six-inch heels and wear four pounds of hair, double-stacked wigs, the power which lies within my mystery is released into the world.”
So now his mystery is powerless. That’s nice.
A new Aquinas has come amongst us.
It’s a “journey towards yourself.” But then of course it would be, wouldn’t it?

So my tepid faith in another “elite” profession takes another hit. I haven’t flown anywhere since 2018. When statisticians tell us that flying is safer than driving, they really should be saying it WAS safer. Past performance is no indication of future results.

That isn’t the instrument panel of anything bigger than a Cessna 172, so probably not a pro. No comment of the furry thing.

The actual article, read at your own risk, can be found here.
Spirochetes. Right Treponema sp.. Unless the afflicted just came from Africa, that is either syphillis or Lyme disease, both of which raise questions. However, the editor adds:
Unless the whole site is an elaborate parody, these people are more than a little off level. This whole “less privileged” crap, nothing says “underprivileged” as having many thousands of dollars to spend on surgery to make yourself a simulacrum of another sex.
Incident.
Report.
Once again, that inordinate amount of “me, me, me.”
When God becomes little more than your wingman, you might be getting a little bit ahead of yourself.
The spam filter is being twitchy again. If anyone has trouble with comments not appearing, email me, top left, and I’ll give it a good poke.

Well, indeed. Whether some benign and numinous entity deserving of the title God exists, I couldn’t say. But of all the conceivable and inconceivable possibilities, “a drag queen with a microphone… ‘yes-queen’-ing her way down the runways of Paris and Montreal” doesn’t quite cut it somehow.
In olden-times – not so long ago in fact…a mere five or six decades – dangerous and terrifying psychopaths like this Isaac thingy would have been chained up and locked in mental asylums.
While at school, I remember that instead of compulsory CCF – some of us who were afraid of that and subsequently being drafted into the Army if the USSR attacked – we were bussed on Wednesday afternoons to a local insame asylum to “help out with the patients”. A more searing and terrifying experience has never afterwards been visited on me.
At least only the “harmless” patients were allowed to be near us and that was bad enough while we watched them mechanically fill little boxes of “Britains Miniature Garden” coloured parts. But we could hear those like this dude through their locked cell doors…
He describes drag as a spiritual experience that allows him to connect with God.
If anyone wonders where there lunatics come from, this book gives an account of the step-by-step process of corruption.
As there is no obvious evidence of the all too common obsession with young children I, subject to later review, consider this particular Penny to be closer to the eccentric rather than the downright malignant on the drag queen spectrum.
Anyway, if this country is anything to go by, the leaders of the established church are already doing a pretty sound job of devaluing the basic tenets of their own religion.
When God becomes little more than your wingman, you might be getting a little bit ahead of yourself.
I wonder if Robert Heinlein ever worried that his slogan “Thou art God” might have been a powerful temptation towards that sort of folly.
In a rare bit of good news, even the voters of San Francisco couldn’t stomach their ‘progressive’ district attorney Chesa Boudin any longer.
Sadly, it’s not clear how much of an effect voting actually has – half the city’s school board was recalled earlier this year, yet they’re still focused on the big issues, such as removing ‘chief’ from job titles.
Oh, and the ongoign implosion at the Washington Post is a sight to behold. It’s not the first time Felicia Sonmez has made herself the story.
That isn’t the instrument panel of anything bigger than a Cessna 172, so probably not a pro. No comment of the furry thing.
Yeah, I get that but this is where it starts. Somehow this person got trained by professionals, is flying about amongst other aircraft, creating chatter traffic with control towers, and even possibly flying over my house. When you see surface rot you need to question how deep it goes. This is how we got here in many other regards.

I have no problem with ostracizing anyone who says that we should “smell poop to become more inclusive”. Such creatures are insane and probably incurable.

I thought we were at one of the following:
1. Helicopters
2. Zoo, no food
3. Lions

It has already been established that the police do not have a “duty to protect”. The Socialist Worker likes vicious criminals infinitely more than good people.

1. Helicopters
2. Zoo, no food
3. Lions
4. Gulag. Because that most closely aligns with their own values.
An important fact about Felicia Sonmez.
She is not a giddy teenager or immature 20-something. She is 39 years old.
“How can I help you?”
Today’s word is feral.
WaPo implosion…
The Josh Barro column David links is reasonable, but then I read his footnote about the Damore / Google incident, and…he misrepresents what happened pretty badly.
So I’m not inclined to believe any of his factual assertions, which leaves me with no reason to believe his conclusions, either.
Like almost all journalism today.

This. If they tell lies about one thing, why should we believe them? Why should we trust them to present the facts honestly? Why should we trust them when they interpret those facts? Year by year, decade by decade, the left has been proving that it cannot be trusted–with anything.
Today’s word is feral.
We used to shoot mountain lions that attacked humans. Now the policy is trap-and-release. I trust my implied meaning is clear.
If they tell lies about one thing, why should we believe them?
A flavour of the Damore / Google saga, and the subsequent eye-widening self-destruction of media credibility, can be found here.
Regarding the pilot’s problem with his Garmin NAV system…
There’s AT LEAST three problems
1. Pilot put strongly magnetic items in the cargo bay. There’s very good reason why shipping magnetics by air is strongly regulated, and this is why.
2. The approved installation of the magnetometer anywhere near the cargo bay or passenger compartment. Very wrong. The aircraft manufacturer, Garmin, and whoever approved it (FAA team) goofed. Assuming, for the sake of argument, that this is a legal installation, which it may not be.
3. Pilot failed to notice his instruments disagreed, during his preflight checks. At the very least, he should have noticed the misalignment of the Garmin mag compass vs. the runway. In every plane I flew, there was also an old fashioned mag compass, entirely separate from all electronics, and this situation is why.
Pilot’s are traditionally beat over the head during training to cross check multiple instruments. But many accidents are due to a pilot believing a single failing instrument, especially when the failed instrument is highly visual and intuitive.
Lots of blame to go around, here.
(Apologies, I forgot to change my alias back – don’t confuse me for the One True David.)
Today’s new character – Holden Saige Foreman – is a he/him fresh Stanford grad who has previously written about being unable to portion food for himself. Truly, our betters.
Barro seems to be a non-identitarian lefty journalist type (I’d put Jesse Singal and Matt Yglesias in the same camp). He seems sound on a couple of topics I’ve seen him write about – COVID-19 and this Washington Post conflagration – a shame about the Damore bit.
Don’t confuse me for the One True David

Smell your poop, eat bugs, singer told us to use one square of TP to wipe, trans microbiome, what is wrong with these people?
Notice how the news report on the movie used “bearded” as a cover for Moslem. These people do not want to become part of western society, it is an invasion.
Removing “chief”: This was a word before ever applied to native americans and can be used in a sentence without people in it: “one of the chief reasons for choosing our product is…” Removing all mentions of Indians does not improve race relations. AND indians are NOT forced to live on reservations anymore. If the reservation they gave you is shit, move away.
This. If they tell lies about one thing, why should we believe them? Why should we trust them to present the facts honestly? Why should we trust them when they interpret those facts? Year by year, decade by decade, the left has been proving that it cannot be trusted–with anything.
The problem isn’t that WE believe them or put our trust in them. WE don’t. Or at least I haven’t since at least Stephen Glass. Actually somewhat even before him but Glass was the worst offender. Of course before that there were several other such scandals of varying certainty. But the Glass thing, TNR being called at the time the “In-flight Magazine of Air Force One”, big, big red flag not just about journalists but all the people, very powerful people, who failed to question what should have been bloody obvious lies. The problem is that THEY believe them. THAT is the truly threatening and scary part. And it has been going on for decades now and goes on to this day. Hence the “fascism” and “nazi” rhetoric that they only tone down, not because conservatives…”conservatives” meekly object but because even the left will sacrifice what they think is the truth for political expediency. This is the much greater danger.
Lots of blame to go around, here.
Hence my concern. Surface rot.
Don’t confuse me for the One True David
Of course the One True David would deny being David.
I’ll just leave this here, I think.

I believe the correct spelling is ‘pilotses’.
[ Reaches under bar for salad tongs, passes bra of shame. ]

As the word “pilot” derives from the word for “foot”, I believe the proper plural would be “pileet”. Anything else is just dumb.

Today’s new character – Holden Saige Foreman – is a he/him fresh Stanford grad who has previously written about being unable to portion food for himself. Truly, our betters.
Amusingly, the linked article begins with a trigger warning.
Also amusingly, the article demands that Stanford make yet more special accommodations for students who are too psychologically damaged to live on a campus that already takes care of nearly all their needs. Truly, this is a road which has no end.
Trigger warnings: I saw where course listings for forensic science and some other fields have trigger warnings for graphic content. As if forensics was just fingerprints or something. Do these students not watch cop shows? Kids are way to sheltered these days. I read a sci-fi story back in the day where every couple of generations individuals had to go live a primitive life (including risk of death) to prevent the race from becoming too weak. Very clever and could be useful now. I loved it in Houston during the hurricane a few years ago when the manly men with their bass boats showed up by the hundreds to rescue people. No females with boats, no woke new yorkers.
My town has been something of a controlled crime experiment. It was historically very low crime suburb of chicago. One murder in 10 years. No car-jackings or armed robbery. The town was very diverse, with Iranians, Indians, Chinese, blacks–but all middle-class. Then about 8 yrs ago we started getting Section 8 (housing voucher) people from Chicago. Now we have all the crime types. If crime was due to racism the prior no-crime condition could not have existed.
Also amusingly, the article demands that Stanford make yet more special accommodations for students who are too psychologically damaged to live on a campus that already takes care of nearly all their needs.
Imaginary “disorders” rarely are.
Tuition, $56,169; room and board $18,619. Sure, let’s keep the mess halls open 24/7/356 and let the snot noses eat as much as they want whenever they want, have special meals for nutcases who can’t decide if they are hungry, both buffet and pre-portioned for idiots who can’t figure how much to put on a plate, that will be sure to drive costs down.
Just like the olden days, mess hall has set hours three times a day, be there or buy your own, and if you aren’t there and are still hungry, I’ve never seen a campus where one couldn’t get snacks. However, just when you thing the light may dawn on him…
…however…
“Simple changes”, right, and not your fault at all, so let’s change everything to make you happy.
It is always the same with this lot.
Very clever and could be useful now. I loved it in Houston during the hurricane a few years ago when the manly men with their bass boats showed up by the hundreds to rescue people.
Meanwhile in central FL whenever a hurricane comes within 1000 miles if the coast I am having to advise women, and presumably any other men that may know them, that they can store and later drink the water that comes out of their kitchen taps. Granted, the water in my town is downright awful. Technical comparisons have been made to Flint, MI…we are/were just above that Mendoza Line. But it will get you through a crisis. I guarantee. And y’all think that logic and reason are things to appeal to come election day. SMDH.
