Dismantlers Of Patriarchy Dismantled
A feminist-owned and operated cafe that made headlines around the world after introducing an 18% “man tax” on male customers will be closing its doors at the end of the month. Handsome Her, a vegan establishment located in Melbourne, Australia, will be going out of business on April 28, according to an announcement on its website.
It turns out that “brazen public discussions of structural inequality and oppression,” rules about women having “priority seating,” and serving turmeric lattes with macadamia milk, isn’t in fact the basis of a thriving business. Even in Brunswick, Melbourne. However, the empowered proprietors insist that the mockery aimed at their pricing policy merely “showed us how fragile masculinity is and solidified the necessity for us to confront and dismantle patriarchy.”

What are the odds they haven’t learned a thing?
I rather get the impression that their intersectional faith will not permit it. After all, these are ladies who thought that gleefully gouging customers who happen to be male, and publicly boasting of this fact, applauding themselves, was a winning strategy.
an 18% “man tax” on male customers
What if the male customer identifies as female?
What sort of man would step in to such an establishment, except by mistake or to fix the plumbing?
“showed us how fragile masculinity is”
As usual, if you disagree with these idiots of the leftist persuasion you are evil or afraid of them.
As usual, if you disagree with these idiots of the leftist persuasion you are evil or afraid of them.
Vanity is a powerful drug.
It’s funny to see this, and the perfect comeuppance.
Melbourne has become the Leftist capital of Australia, its people electing gormless, chinless, spineless, witless Greens who can do nothing for them in parliaments; their far-Left State government introduced a program in schools for perverts to groom children for their sexual predation, then called it “Safe Schools”; the streets of Melbourne are like the streets of Mogadishu, with violent African gangs terrorising innocents, yet the corrupt police and corrupt government pretends it’s not happening. Every country has its dystopia – Melbourne is Australia’s. Decades ago, Hollywood star Ava Gardner visited Melbourne for a movie shoot, and famously said “What a perfect place to shoot a film about the end of the world.”
The ideology is perfect. It just wasn’t implemented correctly this time.
Somewhat related, this vital museum needs your financial help, to strike a blow against the patriarchy.
One wonders, given the subject matter, why they aren’t changed monthly, but I also see they want their premises to open so they can pack them.
RTWT, the bad jokes (and band names), they write themselves. Regardless, I think we should arrange our own GoFundMe to get at least £10,000 so we can name something – “The Rod Johnson” entrance hall, or something equally inappropriate.
One wonders, given the subject matter, why they aren’t changed monthly,…
See the oppression of the Patriarchy comrades!
I’m shocked. Who on earth could have seen this coming, apart from absolutely everyone?

It’s not just the “man tax” that would put me off, but also the likelihood that my soup or sandwich would come garnished with spit from the kitchen. It’s my fragile masculinity, you see.
Speaking of feminist fun times down under.
More deranged thinking from the oppressed I truly believe that a child cannot consent to being on a diet the same way a child cannot consent to having sex, except your three year old boy who claims on Tuesday to be a girl, then it is bring on the estrogen.
Dieting is, of course, white supremacy and personal trainers Nazis (but who isn’t one these days).
Answer to first part of question “YES”, to second, “NO”.
Dietary science used to make one lose weight and live longer and healthier is “eugenic”. Somehow I get the impression that she doesn’t really know what “eugenic” means.
You will no doubt be surprised that she does not “…think it’s surprising that the man who shot up Christchurch, New Zealand was also a fitness instructor”. If she tried physical leaping as she does logic leaping, she might not be so oppressed by “fatphobes”.
Meanwhile, speaking as we were of bodily orifices, from the Mideast, more …science, so there is nothing to be ashamed of…. It is Prophetic, and plants crave it.

Can we play ‘guess which one is the radfem lunatic’?
Speaking of feminist fun times down under.
You have to wonder where they come up with this sort of claptrap:
On my first summer job I worked with a guy who had been a volunteer in the Afrika Corps (after he was captured was a POW in the states, was released & went home long enough to get a ticket back), so I guess I am literally “Nazi adjacent”, if not an actual Nazi just for being a pale male.

It does rather paint a picture.
It’s interesting how Ms Gay and her entourage are so controlling about the terms and conditions of any event involving people who might disagree with her, to a degree bordering on the neurotic; and yet Ms Gay seems happy, indeed determined, to make wildly slanderous accusations based on nothing at all. As if no-one will find out, or care.
Re: “What sort of man would step in to such an establishment, except by mistake or to fix the plumbing?”
One would hope the male plumber would charge an 18% “man tax” as well.
Melbourne has become the Leftist capital of Australia, its people electing gormless, chinless, spineless, witless Greens who can do nothing for them in parliaments
Much safer than losing an entire coffee house to The Patriarchy and one assumes no less resilient a defense.
I predict blame-casting; another marker of personality disorder among the collectively aggrieved.
Even if Handsome Her chose to drive away men with the absurd 18% “man tax”, a well run company could still run a profitable niche cafe. Unfortunately, the non-viable portion of the business is not the “man tax” but rather the “feminist run” portion. Feminists simply do not understand the concept of “mutually beneficial exchange” or profit, for them all life must be either coercive or “no-strings attached”.
“House Rules, Rule #1: women have priority seating. Rule #2: men will be charged an 18% premium to reflect the gender pay gap (2016) which is donated to a women’s service. Rule #3 respect goes both ways,” a chalkboard in the cafe read.
In asking men to give up their seats and pay more, they’re not breaking new ground in relations between the sexes. The chivalry button has been a standard install for 30 generations of western men, and it’s still functional even on the Numales who frequent their establishment. When the button is pressed by a female hand, he’ll turn into a gentleman who’ll give up his seat for the weaker sex, reach for his wallet without hesitation, and endure Milady’s bouts of capriciousness and cruelty without complaining or becoming disillusioned with her like a lesser man would.
Where the rules are being changed is that up to a generation or two ago, chivalrous men could expect gratitude, respect, and the chance of sex. Under the new feminist rules, men are expected to continue their chivalry, but without any expectation of reciprocity, gratitude, or respect (“Rule #3 respect goes both ways” – you’ll be jumping through a lot of hoops before you get a gram of respect from us).
Exploiting vestigial chivalry can be expected to bring diminishing returns to feminists. Western men are slowly and reluctantly responding to the new rules by taking the advice of PUA’s like Heartiste and ripping out the chivalry button with all its wiring. And the demographic replacements for Western men don’t have 30 generations of chivalric tradition to overcome – they regard the notion of pedestalizing, as opposed to protecting, the weaker sex as the weird Western fetish it is.
” . . . the mockery aimed at their pricing policy merely “showed us how fragile masculinity is and solidified the necessity for us to confront and dismantle patriarchy.” “
Can’t say how far they got with the patriarchy, but they sure did confront and dismantle their business loan.
So, do we expect the closure to make headlines around the world? Or… not?
“Feminists simply do not understand the concept of “mutually beneficial exchange” or profit, for them all life must be either coercive or “no-strings attached”.”
Same goes for Leftists in general. That’s why they’re Leftists. To them, financial profit is “exploitation”, and the goods which you buy are your birthright which the capitalists are holding to ransom. The idea of exchange for mutual profit – the idea that, without external coercion, exchange only happens when both parties profit – never enters their heads.
In my experience, they don’t want it to.
Lemme hold that door for you, little lady.

I can see why she might be a bit disgusted with reality. Imagine how much junk mail she has received addressed to “Sonalee Rashatwat.”
If you want to see the patriarchy in action, let me direct you to this story from 1897, in which a bill collector indulged in a “chaste salute” and was convicted of assault and fined.
(Ignore the talk at the top about my next book and scroll down to the subhead “I Suppose You’re Going to Tell Us.”)
The defense attorney tried to pass it off as “boys will be boys” and then “she asked for it without asking for it.” The all-male jury didn’t buy it and the judge congratulated the woman for coming forward with her complaint.
Mind you, this was about an attempted kiss.
How progressive we’ve come since.
The ‘man tax’ does not fully explain the failure. Even if no male ever set foot in there, it still leaves half the population
Perhaps women with fathers, sons, brothers and husbands may also have not cared for the ‘atmosphere’

But the way things turned out, their business was fragile and was the only thing they dismantled. Curious.

But a 15% tip? I’d have left the basic price, without the “man tax”. Let’s see them defend it in court.

If you are on this list
I’m sure I’ve already highlighted myself as cis-scum by failing to understand the bigotry in stopping at yellow lights, even before assigning myself to a category or several.
What are the odds they haven’t learned a thing?
It’s a faith-based system, not an evidence-based system, so learning is not the goal.
To quote Mark Twain, “Faith is believing what you know ain’t so.”
Not learning a thing isn’t a bug to them, it’s a feature.
Had their cafe been a success, it would prove that they could overcome oppression. Now that the cafe has failed, it proves that there is oppression. In other words, no matter the outcome, the conclusion was already preordained. That’s not conducive to learning. The phrase “open minded” is unlikely to be heard often with respect to these people.

Pru, it’s kicking off.
That ‘dissatisfied customer review’ looks like a fake.
– Melbourne cafes are mostly about the coffee. It’s true some will do meals also – a gnocchi with wine seems possible. But the competition for that is stiff in Brunswick.
– ‘vile beast’ sounds made up, what an MRA might think a stereotypical suffragette says about men.
– the review came out shortly after the cafe gained attention for its questionable man tax.
– nobody leaves tips on tables in Melbourne. Some cafes have tip jars at the front.
The whole story seems possible but implausible.
The reviews are basically all 5-star or 1-star. That isn’t unusual, but it rarely is a guide to anything other than how politicised a thing or place is.
Given that the place folded, I suggest the five star ones were more for effort than achievement. Anyone getting that many true five-star reviews would be full to the gunwales. No matter how niche, if you’re good you’ll do well.
A lot of the one star ones look fake.
That ‘dissatisfied customer review’ looks like a fake…
I didn’t think of that possibility. Oops.
If the language and practices do not fit the location then fake seems very likely.

DeBolshevik is really a special kind of stupid, yesterday he banned glass and steel skyscrapers, today one of NYC iconic foods even if it is only in city facilities – not like the people who work in them won’t go to the snouts and kraut stands anyway. He also justified his motorcade to his gym in Brooklyn by claiming he makes up for it by his building ban.

Nothing worth sharing, at the moment.
Applying Occam’s Razor – whereby the simplest explanation may be the best – to the man-hating restaurant suggests that possibly their food was lousy.
Applying Occam’s Razor – whereby the simplest explanation may be the best – to the man-hating restaurant suggests that possibly their food was lousy.
Using Occam’s razor I’ll go with mediocre instead of lousy: It’s very difficult to succeed in that business, and most restaurants close after a couple years or less. There is lots of competition, profit margins are thin, hours are long, and it is difficult to attract and keep customers. It helps to find an underserved niche market, but there are just not that many man-hating vegans who eat out regularly. And I would not be surprised to learn that what the women who opened this restaurant brought to the business was primarily a political obsession and that their business skills were marginal.
