As so often with these displays, I had to check that it wasn’t some on-the-nose parody, but it’s quite sincere, and consonant with the lady’s broader worldview. Ms Byerley, who seems oblivious to what her tweets convey to the rest of us, is fond of the word “diversity,” the implications of which can perhaps be divined from the attitude above.

Melinda Byerley, the founder of TimeShare CMO, wrote an offensive tweet on Saturday, calling people in “middle america” [sic] stupid and saying that’s why there are not as many jobs there. Please read it for yourself:
I didn’t feel like tweetstorming, so here’s a screen shot. “What middle America can do to get more jobs in their area.”
I’m guessing Don’t Be California was not among her recommendations.
I post so many of these things that I sometimes get blasé, and then once in a while I’m struck by the eerie uniformity of the affectation. And in keeping with so many of her equally woke peers, Ms Byerley has been busy blocking vast swathes of Twitter, including people she’s never interacted with, in order to silence any deviation from her pieties.

It has been noted before the similarities between the current SJW project and religious orthodoxy. It seems for Ms. Byerley, only Caucasians suffer from “total depravity” in the form of melanin deficiency. It is for her (and others like her) the Original Sin. Query, does she believe her “salvation” is a result of the “irresistible grace” afforded the “elect” like her, or is such grace “prevenient” and available to all of us if we can just see the light? When, then, is the altar call?

That is about what I would expect from some racist xenophobic lesbianophobic hick from the Midwest who thinks a velvet Elvis is the epitome of fine art and can’t understand the nuances of her art that shows she is at once part of the American land, and the viewer’s eye, and apart from them: in her own words, both present and persistently unseen.
At least unseen from the next county, besides, it is not as if I didn’t warn you.

Born, raised & living in SoCal. Same with hubby.
We will be leaving in 4-5 years, if not sooner.
Cali has one third of the nation’s welfare recipients, bouncing near the bottom for our school systems, our crime rate has gone up because of our criminal coddling betters in Sacramento and our cost of living is about 36% higher than most other states.
And the homeless?
So why are so many business headquarters here? For the upper management, those with salaries in the high 6 figures, it is guarded, beautiful neighborhoods with beautiful weather and a chance to stumble across celebrities when dining or shopping.
We are a feudal state.

BTW, Farnsworth, I cannot recommend a trip to Graceland in Memphis highly enough. Forget the the house, simply spending two hours watch the supplicants at Elvis’s grave is worth the price of admission. From personal experience, however, a note of caution: Try not to display any lack of reverence for the experience. It’s great training for developing the necessary lack of emotional display if you ever want to enter a high stakes Texas Hold ‘Em tournament.

There were a lot of German faithful at Graceland when we visited. Additionally, there were quite a few flower arrangements from Germany at the Graveside. My wife and I developed a game: “European or Jackson, Mississippi?”
After we left, my wife–the very continental, European sophisticate–who was not enthused about my cultural diversion from our trip noted, “Well, that didn’t totally suck.”

I lean toward replacing “observe, like, and share” with “point and laugh,” though that may be due to my entire experience with Twitter being limited to here and the occasional Twitchy clickbait. I suppose it’s possible there’s worthwhile stuff on that platform somewhere. Maybe.

Brown University is implementing a change to its graduate school application that will allow applicants to “self-identify” as persons of color.
Probably white administrators coming up with this stuff.
And in recent years, several all-women’s colleges have permitted men who identify as women to apply. Some sororities have followed suit.
Damnit, why hadn’t they thought of that 40 or so years earlier ?
