Re: The F-16 Autopilot, I recall my dad, who was employed in the military industrial complex from shortly after WWII through the mid-70s, worked on various problems dealing with autonomous solutions to pilot incapacitation or inability to execute maneuvers because of pilot reaction time delays. These included sensor determination of whether aircraft survival/evasive action was possible in the face of attack and if so, executing the appropriate maneuver or if not, firing the primary weapon. One can guess what type of weapon we’re talking about.
What’s amazing is that most of today’s “cutting edge” technology was being contemplated probably decades ago and is only seeing implementation now. It’s sobering to think about what the engineers a Boeing or Lockheed are dreaming about today that only our grandchildren will know about.

re the Glenn Reynolds tweet … highly ironic that Patterico is claiming Glenn’s intent was clear (which I agree with) when he was all “we must watch our words” during the Limbaugh “I hope he fails” kerfuffle.
And Glenn gave in and apologized on USAToday … which has only lead to his university launching an investigation. (of all people, Glenn should know he was being caught in Alinsky rule #12 and stopped playing by their rules)
NEVER apologize because people in bad faith are loudly offended by your words.
which has only lead to his university launching an investigation.
We live in an age of bureaucratic tweet investigation. There’s a thing to ponder. Given the immediate context, Glenn’s meaning should be obvious. I’m assuming, of course, that we haven’t yet reached a stage of degeneracy in which, when faced with rioting racist thugs encircling occupied cars and hurling bricks through their windscreens and trying to burn alive unconscious white people, one is expected to simply cower in terror and hope that the savages will stop short of murder.
Reynolds was simply echoing the advice of every security in the universe, all of whom advise to keep moving when one’s vehicle is surrounded by a menacing crowd. Would any politician’s security detail do something other than “Run them over?”
Should be “every security professional in the universe…”
one is expected to simply cower in terror and hope the savages will stop short of murder.
Yes, you are expected to shelter-in-place and to say one is not obligated to become the next Reginald Denny is triggering.
The darkies are too emotional and can’t be expected to behave themselves like civilized people. Collateral damage is the price we must pay for white privilege.

Instead, you and your family should sit there and wait to be beaten insensible, and possibly set on fire. For “social justice.”

There’s some background on the, um, exchange and its participants here. And for those who can endure it without feeling an urge to self-harm, there’s a longer, half-hour video here.

Any kid who has watched the Guardians of the Galaxy movie will know what that coffee table is. As a matter fact, the makers of those tables seem to referencing Guardians of the Galaxy with the tape labeling.
