Friday Ephemera
How to sing polyphonic overtones. A project for the weekend. // Potato toys. // Wooden watches. // Wooden cars. // Watch out for the switched-on kids. // Screenshot, 1983. // Chess set or choking hazard? // Balloon festivals. // I think it’s broken. // Northerners of yore. // New York’s feral cats. // An Arizona monsoon. // Screw the fish, admire the plants. // Swing riot. It’s the Sharks and the Jets all over again. // Dominoes of note. // Doorbell cam. // On the ageing of dogs. // Maximum dadliness. // “Atomic gardening” was a thing, apparently. // Passenger. // This. // And finally, I denounce the cultural appropriation.
Apparently your denunciation worked, because the video has been pulled.
“And finally, I denounce the cultural appropriation.” This video has been removed by the user.
crap … I’m always late to the party…
Yep. What was it?
The Chap magazine a while back had a feature on vintage wooden cars – Morgans. This isn’t the article in question but it does show you one of the cars.
Isn’t it just human nature … I enjoyed many of the links (utterly love the Sammy Davis and Swing/Street dancing ones) but I/we am/are just utterly intrigued by the One That Got Away.
I really appreciate these Friday Emphemera posts. Thank you!
Potato toys: alright for you lucky bastards that have matches.
“I think it’s broken”,
Quick, get the coastguard, there’s a humpbacked whale stuck in the lift.
Somewhere.
I made a wooden car once! It had a wood body, wood wheels and wood engine…
…it wooden go… 🙁
Barman. Did you do your block?
And finally, I denounce the cultural appropriation.
According to a basic bit of googlemancy, it’s a video of Michael Jackson – Smooth Criminal – “Traditional Japanese Version” by Yoshimi Tsujimoto
Well caught, Hal. Link fixed.
Morning, all.
“Morning, all.”
Bah!….I suppose we have to go and do our homework now…….
*Weeping with laughter at the Daniel Craig poster.*

Potato toys.
I used to make these with horse chestnuts when I was a kid. Assembly instructions not included.
It may be that I’m an old fart.
At least it’s free.

Spector. Very, very yes.
Very, very yes.
It does rather linger in the mind. I think I’d be willing to pay money to see that.
Failing that, I should be off to see the real thing next Friday.
Thanks, Hal! Ichiban!
Those aquaria are just awesome…
Well caught, Hal. Link fixed.
Thanks, Hal! Ichiban!
Yer welcome . . . . Now if I could just nail down one of those massively lucrative jobs that some commentatees seem to have for doing such bits of tapping on a keyboard . . . on an other hand I also have a work history of getting work done rather than focusing on the posing and the politics, with posers and other hipsters finding that to be extremely annoying . . . .
Sumo wrestlers of note.
Via Franklin.
Have a look at the In the Night Garden wiki page before someone sensible realises what’s happened
> Screw the fish, admire the plants.
They had a, much smaller, contest for similar plants at the last Ekka (Queensland State Show). They’re better in person.
> And finally, I denounce the cultural appropriation.
Just more evidence of the troublesome Occidentalism that’s rampant in Japanese culture.
For more troublesome Occidentalism check out Kawaii Metal (Western heavy metal and Japanese girl bands):
