The Science is Throbbing

Is the science engorged, or merely tumescent?

Forget the homeopathy. I’m waiting for George’s update on his homopathy.

I was sceptical about homeopathy but this pulsating business has really opened my eyes.

The logical end of homeopathy, of course, is that you can cure absolutely anything with absolutely nothing.

Karen,
At first I thought this was a spoof… and then I followed the links. Oh dear.
Oh, he’s quite real, if unrealistic, and rather sly. For instance, see how Mr Vithoulkas responds to a critical piece in the Economist. Our homeopathic guru complains of “several distorted points” in the article, none of which he specifies or addresses in any way. Instead he quotes one brief passage:

Homeopathy is more controversial. Believers say substances which in large quantities may cause symptoms of illness can cure them in highly diluted form, thanks to an imprint left on the water. Sceptics deride both that claim and the principle behind it.

Mr Vithoulkas responds thus:

I cannot believe that sceptics ridicule the idea that large enough doses of a substance can cause symptoms.

Which isn’t what the Economist article, or anyone, is ridiculing. What the passage doubts is the “imprint left on the water” business. Which of course Mr Vithoulkas doesn’t address. Instead, he pretends that the Economist is scorning the idea that eating vast amounts of salt will make you very ill.
See, the science is pulsating.

His mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
I need a cigarette. And I don’t even smoke.

My favorite explanation of homeopathy

Time to trot out the old joke about the guy who forgot to take his homoeopathic medicine and died of an overdose.

The Huffington Post is throbbing too.
