That bumpy landing. Read Ernest Gann’s ‘Fate Is The Hunter’ – an aviation classic. He describes his test DC2 landings (early 30s) as a trainee pilot.
“The second landing has the men in the control tower reaching for the alarm buttons. It is not a landing but an endless series of angry collisions between the airplane and earth, each separated by spasms of engine roar … incredibly, the plane is still in one piece when we traverse the entire airport and execute a final, deliriously drunken bounce into the air again”
