Touching Themselves
Given ongoing events, and lifted from the comments, a reminder, were one needed, that there are titillated creatures who want to see your homes burn:

Because they’re intellectuals, you know. Enthusiasts of “anticolonialism.”

Update, via the comments:
And I’m just going to leave this here. For no reason whatsoever.
Consider this an open thread. Share ye links and bicker.

Oh, and I’m just going to leave this here.
For no reason whatsoever.
Is the BBC still calling it a ‘protest’?
Last I saw, they were referring to it as a “major protest.” So, hey, baby steps.
“Largely… peaceful.“
Doing the meme, as the switched-on kids say.
Also via Damian.
Time to re-post this meme:
There’s a joke about French existentialism in all of this somewhere but damned if I can find it. Probably not very funny though. Unless you really, really, really like dark humor.
Same meme also applies to Muslim immigrants.
From the comments:
Make it happen!
I like how Greta Thunburg is there supporting the muslim rioters. I thought they were just students upset about…something. I guess I was misinformed. But back to Greta…not a care or concern about all the carbon being released in these fiery (sp?) but mostly peaceful protests. Apparently she saw some green in some flags and assumed…?
Following the mass looting, Dior brought in their own on-street security.
What shopkeepers without the resources of Dior are supposed to do, I leave to the reader.
If you rely on the BBC for news, you might have supposed that they’re just “scuffles” and “cost-of-living protests” by “students.” And of course “largely… peaceful.”
Though a remarkable number of those “students” seem to be Moroccan, Eritrean or Sudanese.
As noted in the previous thread, I’m not familiar with the nuances of French politics, but the fact that the French welfare state is much more generous than our own – among the highest-spending and most comprehensive in the OECD – does, I’d suggest, cast claims of being denied essentials in a somewhat different light.
Literary tropes aside, savagery is not noble.
CBS is calling it ‘scuffles’.
That grotty attention whore would show up at the opening of an envelope if cameras were present.
The Great Enscuffling of 2026, as it shall come to be known.
As opposed to The Great Enscuffling of 1940 which for Paris was pretty tame by comparison.
Immigrants in France have been burning cars for decades. Car-b-que is a term I first heard around the year 2000, maybe earlier.
Coming soon to a cinema near you, Is Paris Scuffling?
Dalrymple referred to them as Autos-da-fé.
Would CBS call it “scuffles” if rioters burned their offices? Their homes?
Let us take a brief break from France and marvel at the stunning accuracy of an AI map.
If you notice things, you may be called names.
When you’re gleefully throwing rocks at firefighters, trying to injure them, I’m pretty sure that makes you the bad guy.
[ Checks book. ]
Yes. Yes, it does.
Here’s what grok told me when I asked for an update on the situation in France:
So, see? It’s just a school and cost-of-living…scuffle. When I asked how many students there are of riot age in these cities:
Same here.
Driscoll linked you again.
I deserve everything that’s coming to me.
Oh wait.
The wages of importing 3rd world turd creatures and their sh1tty culture from turd bucket countries. Muslim terrorists, they all are, or biding their time. Because some jackass elitist putz has decided to destroy your country ,culture ,and history. Continues to “pay off” exactly as predicted by those who live in reality. The solution ? Eradication of all of the above, with the necessary violence and finality. Remember, those elites hate you, your culture and your country with every fiber of their being.
All this talk of students and burnings, now I can’t get this damn song out of my head.
Let us all learn some history of the Mideast – or maybe not.
Is today’s word ‘symbolism’?
Built from stolen wealth, eh? I guess they couldn’t get away with saying it was built by slave labor … not the inventiveness, artistry, skill, engineering and industriousness of white Frenchmen
This came to mind, from the post on the invasion of Ceuta:
As a summary of our times, and in more ways than one, it does, I think, have a certain resonance.
I’m thinking as there are maybe only two actual boomers in that crowd, I think today’s word is “clueless whiny git”.
The first French revolution was such a hoot they want to do it again. Forgetting, of course, that revolutions always come for the revolutionaries.

Hard not to feel somewhat slighted.
That’s just bizarre.

Grok is just a fancy aggregator of published information. When Pravda media ignoring/down playing it and explaining it as upset students (ignore the hammer-n-sickle and Palestinian flags), that’s what gets aggregated.
GIGO
Ah. We don’t get much of that here.
[ Peers out of kitchen window. ]
Darlene – so Grok likely refers to Hunter Biden’s fingerprinting as “Fine Art” because of the prices some people were willing to pay for it?
Ah. We don’t get much of that here.
Not in many places in the US, either, unless you happen to live in/near a city that grew up around the slaughter of cattle/meat packing industry. It seems to be concentrated in a few areas here in the US – is it smaller/more scattered in Britain? I must admit the sum total of my knowledge of British cattle comes from the All Creatures Great and Small books.
I think the Trump administration is trying to bring smaller slaughter/packing operations online in the US so the cattle don’t have to travel so far. I think it has to do with unions and crazy regulations from the fed gov.
Speaking of federal governments – does the French government think they are going to be allowed to rule over the ashes? The invaders are coming for them next, when they get done burning everything and everyone else out.
Can’t help you on that front. We drove past some in a field on the way to fetch pies and cherry wine yesterday, but that’s pretty much the extent of my knowledge in this sphere. That, and Clarkson’s Farm.
Ooh, cherry wine.
What’s past is prologue.
C’est tellement plus facile à soumettre.
Students. Just kids, really.
vile. according to this norte recuda thing the remedy is to BURN EVERYTHING DOWN? regardless of any *current* value or purposes or access?
BURN IT ALL DOWN. anything to replace it with? anyone going to replace anything or just burn and burn and burn??? ya. that’s quite the ‘ideology’ ya got there
Small slaughterhouses are ubiquitous in areas with small family farms. There are three or four within a half hour of me (I’m a small rancher). Of course, urban types who want to “fix” things don’t actually learn about the things they’re trying to fix.
It’s not a lack of slaughterhouses that is the problem. It is massive processing and retail cartels that fix the prices, making it nearly impossible for small ranchers to make a profit.
