Tokens Of Gratitude And Esteem
With various blog-related expenses looming, annual renewals of this and that, I’m going to do something reckless and appeal to your better nature.
If you’d like to ensure this place exists a while longer and remains ad-free, there are three buttons below the fold with which to monetise any love. Debit and credit cards are accepted. If what happens here is of value, this is a chance to show it.
If one-click haste is called for, there’s a QR code in the sidebar, at which you point your phone camera, and my PayPal.Me page can be found here. There are also SubscribeStar and Ko-Fi accounts, via which love may be monetised, whether as one-off donations or monthly subscriptions. Should you be gripped by an urge to express encouragement via currency, by all means succumb.
Additionally, any Amazon UK shopping done via this link, or via the button in the sidebar, results in a small fee for your host at no extra cost to you.
Sordid business, I grant you, but it’s what keeps this place here.
For newcomers wishing to know more about what’s been going on here for nigh on twenty years, in over 3,600 posts and hundreds of thousands of comments, the Reheated series is a pretty good place to start – in particular, the end-of-year-summaries, which convey the fullest flavour of what it is we do. A sort of blog concentrate. If you like what you find there… well, there’s lots more of that.
Do take a moment to poke through the discussion threads too. The posts are intended as starting points, not full stops, and the comments are where much of the good stuff is waiting to be found. And do please join in.
As always, thanks for the support, the comments, and the company.
Consider this an open thread. Share ye links and bicker.

Something like this.
I’m tempted to ask how you’re so expertly acquainted with these things.
Ah, but do you bring, or bring out, a pad and pen on a job interview?
Nah, bro. She gonna need something more like this.
Carefully.
One would think.
And hope.
We have entered Friday Ephemera territory.

Bugger. I’ve misaligned my Elastoplast eyebrows. I look like a quizzical Mr Spock.
When watching sci-fi series, especially TOS, singular characters of other non-human species used to amuse me. Until I saw an episode with other Vulcans I wondered if maybe Spok might have been a freak in his own culture who hung out with humans because they wouldn’t realize how abnormal he truly was, or might have been. Like I was fairly certain they would have pointy ears, that was kinda baked into some of the dialogue or mythology. But those eyebrows and his general physical appearance…? I’m often a poor judge of what makes at least some men look attractive but that guy hit the lottery with that role.

@pst314, something in your vicinity?
I wonder how many protesters there will be. Lots of leftists, especially in Evanston, and no shortage of “unassimilated” Muslims all over the Chicago area.
@David, should we be making up the guest room? Between the impending Ministry of Truth and the rounding up of ‘hooligans’ it’s looking a bit dodgy in Merrie Olde.

That means people are paying attention to what you said.
I’ve seen this repeatedly. I had a blog back in the day. Published and liked to a lot of stuff like Instapundit. Got tired of the silence and quit, and a major blogger wrote it was unfortunate I quit.
Like, dude, it would have been nice to know that before I did it.
But you can see the difficulty for them. Having created an absurd, unsustainable, socially degrading situation, one whose effects and trajectory we’re supposed to pretend away, some people are choosing not to pretend. But only those refusing to pretend are referred to as extremists.
Not the people whose perversity created the absurd, unsustainable, socially degrading situation.
I wonder, will Angela Merkel be denounced as an extremist? Will our governments and their bizarre determination to ignore the most basic economics and the loudly stated preferences of the electorate? And what about the state broadcasters so keen to deceive?
Laughed, not sorry.
When in reality, the true dilemma is on the flip side of that. Fortunately…well for the purposes of perpetuating the species…God put an insanely high relative sex drive into men such that usually at some point in their lives, the little head does the thinking for the big head. Fortunately. For the purposes of the perpetuation of the species.
Our lives are controlled by the behavior of the bottom ten percent.
The irony of those big lip plates is they deliberately tried to uglify themselves so the slavers would pass them by.
They were saying, “I’m of no use to you.”
There seems to be some uncertainty about that. When I read about it many years ago, it was presented as settled fact and I accepted it as such. Now I’m reading that it is only one of a number of theories.
That’s what our “nonconformists” are saying to the world.

Belated thanks to all who’ve chipped in or subscribed, or done shopping via the Amazon link – including all those much too shy to say hello.
It’s much appreciated and is what keeps this place here.
