From the archives, a compendium of progressive racial agonising.
If We Just Stop Noticing, Everything Will Be Fine.
San Diego schools, where meanings must be inverted.
On grounds that acknowledging tardiness, misbehaviour and a lack of diligence results in “racial imbalance,” which, in the land of the bedlamites, simply won’t do.
And so, those sufficiently dense and inclined to antisocial behaviour will be given a license to disregard normal deadlines and to be selfishly disruptive, all with academic impunity. Why, it’s convenient and morally improving. Mr Patterson, an eleventh-grader who deploys the word inequities with dutiful enthusiasm, informs us, “Students all across the district are excited about this.”
You see, expecting students to meet basic standards of behaviour, punctuality, and, it seems, probity – say, resisting the urge to cheat – is “not fair,” according to San Diego Unified School District Vice President Richard Barrera, who adds that the new policy is – and I quote – “an honest reckoning.”
Indeed, we’re told that this self-satisfied obliteration of standards, all in the name of racial fairness, is “a change that’s been a long time in coming,” one that “reflects reality.”
Again, an intriguing choice of words.
At Birmingham University, all is not well. Witch-hunting ensues.
“We are mindful that previous attempts at addressing such imbalances have not been successful,” says the professor. And so, rather than revisiting his own egalitarian assumptions regarding the distribution of interest, aptitude and talent, he and his team will be searching for witches and racial ectoplasm.
It’s not unreasonable to suppose that the role of “reverse mentor” will attract people already sympathetic to the hokum being peddled, and intrigued by the personal leverage it affords, and who may feel an ideological obligation to unearth some damning but invisible sin, fairly or otherwise, if only to validate their own conceits.
Which is to say, the so-called mentors – who’ve agreed to participate in a project that by definition assumes white guilt regardless of evidence or lack thereof – seem more likely to be racially bigoted than any random member of staff.
What’s objectionable, among so much else, is the conceit that these clowns, with their weird racial fixations, have any business at all probing the unconscious of staff based on their race and sex, their maleness and paleness, in order to find bigotry that they assume must exist solely because of their skin colour.
It seems to me that when you’re reduced to hunting for “unconscious bias,” as supposedly confirmed by a person’s preferred charity or the random positioning of a chair, then you’ve crossed a line into something approaching hysteria. And a license for malice.
At the University of London, feats of umbrage and projection.
Readers may also wonder how such exquisitely sensitive creatures will fare when faced with potential employers who may also be paler than themselves and, shockingly, not nineteen.
In short, the students are admitting, albeit unwittingly, that in fact they are the inflexible and bigoted ones, the ones preoccupied with racist and ageist stereotypes, and are incapable of feeling “comfortable” with people whose appearance differs from their own.

Or, Landscape Paintings Now Deemed Racist, Morally Corrupting.
Because apparently that’s now the reason that museums exist.
Which seems to mean that we must all pretend that our islands’ population and cultural assumptions have always looked like those of, say, twenty-first century London, a city whose demographics bear little relationship to those of the country as a whole, even in the twenty-first century.
It occurs to me that notions of racial “representation” will likely be distorted by the embrace of rather parochial progressive conceits, and by proximity to the nation’s capital, which in my lifetime has gone from a native white-majority city, over 90%, to a native white-minority one, around 35%, and which is wildly out of step with the rest of the nation. Things that are denounced as “horribly white,” or whatever the current term of disapproval is, may not seem so to people who live in, say, Chesterfield or Plymouth…
But apparently, museum visitors must be warned that the sight of a Constable landscape may trigger TERRIFYING BLOOD AND SOIL TENDENCIES. Or at least inspire thoughts of historical attachment, continuity and belonging – thoughts that may be disconcerting or very much frowned upon, if only by the – wait for it – keepers of our heritage.
And so we have high-status cultural custodians whose traditional function is now merely an ostensible function, such that the kinds of appreciation and sense of historical connection that their predecessors sought to engender are now merely qualities to inhibit and subvert. The perversity of which is hard to overstate.
For those craving more, this is a pretty good place to start.

At this rate, you’ll be dragging in trollies of bullion for a small lager shandy.
One should note that in 1920 the Irish war for independence was still underway against the despised british, contributing to long-held anti-british feelings in many places – not least the United States of America. Given the role of the british in our earlier history it’s a wonder anyone harbors any good feeling towards them.
It took a long time for Americans to get over their anti-British feelings.
That is the thing tho. Were they not hated, no one would give them much attention. They would just be harmless nutcases over in the corner, which is what they were before they took pride in being nutcases. Now you cannot so easily dismiss them. And if you do, they will work harder to be noticed. Which is why we are where we are. The benign neglect only encouraged more obnoxious behavior. The ignore-them-and-they-will-go-away strategy, if you can call it a strategy, has utterly failed. And yet this has had very little, if any, cause for reflection by the wise strategists who advised it.
Testosterone Storm would have been a good 20th century band name. Today it would just get them…banned. Virtual Testosterone Storm however could be the happy compromise. An acceptable name the record company (and venues and promoters and…) would accept, so long as the band was composed of anything but young men.
Is both, and I am not convinced the abs are genuine either.
Not in Swedish Death Metal…
Looking to retire early?
Dr. Photoshop perhaps?
Active volcanoes with shark pools and underground lairs don’t come cheap.
You’ve been nursing that mineral water for ninety minutes.
At least. It’s good mineral water.
They absolutely aren’t. Real abdominals aren’t that square, and they don’t constantly look like the owner has been dehydrating for two days prior to the photoshoot.
A doctor, just not PS.
Nor symmetrical.
You might want to read the label, though technically bauxite and uranium are minerals.
Laughed, not sorry.
A reminder that academia is dominated by corrupt, evil ideologues.
I heard of Chagnon–as some sort of villain–while a student.
So thankful I escaped academia.
Corrupt academia: way way back in the day, physics 101, I had a brit (in Georgia) who was a bully. On the first minor test I got all questions right (check, check check) and then he went back and marked off points for my “sketches” of sin waves so I only got an 85. I later overheard him and another prof in the hall bragging to each other about how many students were going to fail the final. Nothing about how much students would learn. And this was the hard sciences. In Linear Algebra Mon Wed Fri class, prof would cancel every friday so he could go ride his motorcycle. Made it really hard to pass. Chem 100 when I went in because I thought he made a mistake, prof made it clear he would regrade the whole test so my grade could (probably would) go down (ie a threat). I could go on.
The Chagnon saga is truly disturbing. He found that the prominent men had killed many other men, and the more men they killed the more wives they had and the more children they had. Certainly not noble savages. The campaign to destroy him was sick. As sick as the lies about the Indian school graves in Canada.
Should all actors be institutionalized when they land their first role?
Soooo….one aspect of the mass migration into Europe is apparently the white women of Europe whoring themselves…no, not whoring…whoring is too respectful a word. At least a whore expects to get paid…no, apparently these women are banging the arriving men, apparently even boys, for free. Or am I just the last person to hear about this depth of the ongoing debasement?
Before. Saves time.
Ezekiel 23:20.
Oholah and Oholibah were far more virtuous and had better taste in men. Metaphorically and otherwise.
Added: on the positive yet irrelevant side, I had some Ezekiel bread for the first time since I was a kid. Not bad. Better than that multigrain crap we accidentally bought a couple years ago.
IIRC, I was trying to help my grandsons with 3rd grade math (2011) … and almost stroked out that it was a weird mixture of trying to use visual representation (drawing small blocks) and stuff that resembled algebra and, in the meantime, the kids were DISCOURAGED from memorizing a times table, just had a laminated chart to refer to.

The more I read about science, the more I run into these things: on the one hand you have these mild-mannered researchers with their Aspie obsession with facts, and on the other you have Cluster Bs who are attracted to the prestige elements of science.
Most people aren’t equipped to fend off sociopathic bullying — and Aspie types even less so — and so the sociopaths often win. It takes decades for the damage to be undone, if ever.
Same with the debate over which diet made you fat: high fat or high carbs.
Same with global warming.
Same with Alzheimer’s and plaques.
I asked for more examples from Grok:
It doesn’t surprise me that the women so determined to enable illegal immigration – in a hands-on way, as it were – would be psychologically questionable. A perverse project will tend to attract perverse people. Calling it a charity doesn’t change that.
I think I’d be more surprised if such organisations weren’t teeming with bedlamites.
Yet autogynephile men – i.e., sad and grubby fetishists – are now by far the largest subgroup of the broader ‘trans’ phenomenon.
Not so much a theory as an observable reality that one would have to make considerable effort to overlook.
As I said in the second linked item,
And some people avert their eyes precisely because the reality of the phenomenon ain’t pretty. Or indeed a basis for self-exaltation as a supposed ally.
They rebranded and got a good PR firm.
I vaguely recall that those thuggish activists were egged on by Stephen Jay Gould and another Harvard communist whose name I forget. EDIT: Richard Lewontin.
Gad Saad has been attacked for the that same reason. Evolution, in the eyes of the left, must be required to stop at the neck.
The Wikipedia entry for Joan Roughgarden makes no mention of her Torquemada- or Lysenko-level attacks on them. No surprise there.
Semmelweis and Alfred Wegener (continental drift) are the only examples I recall learning about in school.
Coincidentally, I just ran across this meme:
Curiously, vodka, Scotch, and American whiskey all say the same thing.
Well, for the left, it has. Turned about even.
