C rations!
Because they resemble hard tack? Or another reason?
Making rations that are palatable and store well has been a very old problem.
Heh. He’s probably as annoyed by these women as you are. Stereotyping like a banshee here but…You’re dealing with what I was starting to get issues with, only on steroids…or hormones. I thank God for one big thing, Covid…or maybe I should thank Fauci…for providing me an exit at the right time.
There has been, for many decades, a lack of respect for older people in our society. Boomers brought this on them/ourselves. I would see it and point it out on occasion only to get snapped back by some of the very same people I see bitching about it now. It amplifies with each succeeding generation. Throw females, millennials, SF on top of it and it’s a wonder you’re handling it this well.
And of course what aelf and pst said. Also keeping in mind this.
I wouldn’t worry about it. No shame in goldbricking in the current environment/world. Just do what you think needs to be done and f*** ‘em if they can’t handle it.
Curious to know what part of evolutionary theory encompasses it.
A scrotum only implies a testicle.
You, in fact, do.
Dry, flavorless, and would disintegrate if you tried to put the cheese or peanut butter on them, only enough jam for one to make sort of edible.

The obviously middle-aged gadding about in clothes more suitable (if that’s the word) for adolescents don’t exude much in the way of dignity, of gravitas.
It’s still got the price tag attached.
What?
LoL, no.
One thing I meant to add regarding this, and hopefully you know this but were just being too kind or generous, they absolutely know your politics. In the current environment, if you know someone by interacting with them every day, working on similar issues, having even the most casual conversations, they know you are conservative. It’s a big part of the reason they make the personal political. To identify the nails that must be either pounded down or removed.
Mia Hughes, here.
This.
Mia Hughes has been mentioned previously.
Disproving the “suicidal people would feel better if they would just learn to lift, bro” theory.
There’s the issue. It isn’t you. It’s the complainer AND the supervisor who didn’t tell C to calm his/her jets. Nothing brings out the fangs of the mediocre time punchers than a co-worker who finishes tasks early AND then goes and does more.
It’s amazing how much such people malevolently try to police co-workers work.
And S isn’t worth warm spit for giving in.
I had variations on this during all my time as a supervisor (and it did NOT help at all that my 41 person staff had 39 women). And when I could stomp out the behavior in one area, it would pop up in another. ::::sigh::::

I can’t remember for sure if it was NR or Cato who said that unlimited immigration from Mexico was a Good Thing because they were all Christians and thus 100% culturally compatible.
Don’t bother asking the ethnicity of the robber and hijacker.
Just think, if concealed carry were legal in the UK, a passenger could have put several bullets into his kidneys while he was bent over assaulting the bus driver.
Just make it stop, please. Make it stop.
This is nothing more than crapping all over C.S. Lewis.
I’m not overly familiar with the source material – read it as a child, saw one of the films distractedly – but the casting does seem to introduce needless thematic and narrative complications, and it’s not clear to me what is supposedly gained.
Is Aslan still portrayed as male, but voiced by Meryl Streep? I mean, will he/she have a mane to be shaved off as humiliation by a certain spiteful witch? I seem to recall that’s a big deal in the story.

“Procedures over results”
One of the most productive companies i ever worked for had a formal Procedures, Policies, and Guidelines document for project development. ACK! you might say, but this thing was not quite three (3) pages beginning to end.
I loved working there. Also met my now-wife there. That last bit was not mentioned in the PPG, by the way.
Thank you all for your sympathetic input regarding my situation (and for reading all that text).
After further contemplation, I think the nub of the problem is that C has difficulty with context-switching and I don’t.
I was imagining a quick fix where you just glance at the changes in the MR and send it through.
She was thinking about having to review extra MRs on top of the normal load, and for her, every peer review requires a costly context switch that throws her off her game and interferes with her productivity. She envisioned having to go through and verify every minute change.
If she had said, “I don’t have the bandwidth to review the extra MRs,” that would have made sense to me, but instead she talked about priorities and team alignment, so it sounded like she was being irrational about getting quick wins.
If another team member had gone on a side-quest to address an accuracy problem, it wouldn’t have phased me at all. I wouldn’t have seen it as an undue cost levied on my time/effort, because I context-switch all day long, often working on 3-4 things simultaneously.
So that’s why I didn’t think about costs imposed on others: to me, there were none.
Also, context-switching ease is a brain-config thing, not a learned skill or a question of smarts. It just is.
As for that earlobe, it might be a cyst or other growth that was caused by piercing or a gauge, and the scar tissue got out of control.
I still couldn’t stop staring at it.
Seems likely. But why not have it removed?
That’s why.
Again, I think you are being too kind. But you are in the situation and understand more than can possibly be conveyed. And whatever your personal financial situation is, you may feel it’s not worth further trouble. Which is why I always tried to maintain a big reserve of FY money while also trying to maintain the discipline not to use it…too soon. Though circling back to the crux of the matter, a huge part of a manager’s expected skill set should be an ability to manage context switching. Certainly more so than one should expect of a line item team member.
And all this is BS speculation and, as I said, I’m stereotyping like a Comanche…or …whatever…and I was going somewhere with this but Alabama scored an unexpected touchdown in a game I would only be tangential interested in and…I lost my train of thought…and dammit, there’s another one…
If the past is any guide, NR likely quoted Cato approvingly.
Not a briar patch to be seen.
Oh, yes. They’d have to. I used to gush about SpaceX launches (for the sheer tech thrill of it), and I posted photos of my back yard where I’d hung patriotic bunting on my pergolas, and I speculated it scared the birds away from the feeders and fountain. (It had.)
There are other signs that they’d know how to interpret, things I do that seem normal to me but are coded to them.

Just met with my financial advisor, and I’m in good shape. If I lost my job tomorrow I’d be OK, but if I hang on for 2 more years I’ll have a bigger monthly payout, and it’s worth it.

I’d like someone to secret a few dozen wireless speakers behind the walls of the school and play Pink Floyd’s “We Don’t Need No Education” when he walks by.
I fully expect Sheehan to cave. Because obviously. I am a bit impressed that he hasn’t caved yet. If he stands up to this, I may give his stuff a listen. I have no idea why he is a thing but..whatever. But I only have so much time in life to spend listening to people warble, and that time is shortening every minute. And there is still a lot more of Frank Sinatra, Lou Reed, Mozart, Patsy Cline, John Coltrane, Buck Owens, Tom Petty, Joe Cocker, Rimsky-Korsakof (or htf you spell it), Joe Jackson, The Jam, and now Bryce Leatherwood and Ellie Somethingorother and people far more talented that I didn’t have time for in the past and now never will. As I sit here watching football, college bands are playing Orff’s O, Fortuna. That must have some value. I will try to work Sheehan in somewhere. If he holds out. Maybe. But I doubt 90 years from now anyone anywhere will be playing whatever TF he warbles about. I suppose I could be wrong though. Wake me if it turns out I was wrong. Shitty call on that “late hit” on Auburn’s QB, but again WTF do I know?
Bet he counts the sugar cubes.
And wants to know who stole his strawberries.
Well don’t discount a lighter low wage job. I was in your position after getting dropped from a risky startup, venture capital thing that missed the sweet spot for potential huge payouts, just two years away from being able to draw on my 401k/IRA without tax penalty . Whatever. They still owe me $30K+ that I will never see. But unlike the other seven clowns I didn’t cry and sue a defunct corporation over it. What I do regret is thinking I could never take a job at Lowes or Home Depot because…well…my ego just couldn’t see doing “drone” work. Looking back, I realized I had been doing “drone” work with overeducated “drones” for many years. Though it took Covid for me to see that. I was kinda lucky enough to land a contract job doing some simple coding work until covid. It just would have been a slight, temporary financial squeeze if I took a regular job. But then stupid health care costs complicates everything. Again, looking back, with the idiotic Obamacare subsidies that at the time I was too proud to consider, I could have fairly easily afforded a low wage job that I could have easily done. But my drive and focus couldn’t get off the professional world scope. That and the MFing stupid healthcare complication.
Whatever…just 2 cents. Fortunately I wasn’t tied into a high cost of living environment like SF/CA either.
When my late uncle retired, he really missed working at something … so he started working at the local golf club … and loved it. Gave him something to look forward to each day and no stress of management.
There are exactly zero discussions about politics or other hot-button issues. Nobody brings anything up. Nobody makes snide little asides about Trump in the Zoom calls or mentions someone’s white privilege or teh Patriarchy.
Partly it might be that I work for the division of the company that originated in Utah. Most of the Utah tech companies employ a healthy admixture of political and religious opinions, and it’s resulted in a tacit ethos that “you just don’t go there,” because nobody is in the majority such that they can pretend like theirs is the only POV present. You notice that the competent ones and the pleasant ones aren’t clustered around one pole, so you abandon the desire to get in your digs.
It also might be the CEO of the bay-area company that acquired us. He might be an east-coast liberal by default but he also seems reasonably based. Around an election time, he emailed a severe scolding regarding people who were being abusive to their political opponents.
He wasn’t having it. He also said prior to the last election that it would be in our company’s best interest for the GOP to win, from a purely economic perspective. He didn’t praise Trump; he just said that was the math.
What’s the arrangement here? Teen has her parents on speed-dial to administer beat-downs to anyone who disses her?
Did they say, “you call us any time, baby, if anyone messes with you, we’ll come right on over”?
What assumptions were the parents operating on? That anyone who looks cross-eyed at their baby should be beaten?
They weren’t going to start with verbal intimidation and abuse, they started right in with beatings?
In a store that has plenty of security cams?
I guess situational awareness wasn’t their strong suit.
Not even current events? Local crimes and incidents?
If there’s nothing like that, even, all I can fall back on is pattern-recognition based on the liberal-conservative personality differences (degree of conscientiousness, openness, etc.) That could be a very interesting question.
