Further to recent rumblings in the comments, I bring scenes of an immensely radical gardening project conjured into being in June 2020 by Seattle’s progressive-activist community:

More scenes of radical signage can be had here.
Footage of said radicalism, this wokeness that didn’t happen, is also available:

I know. You may want a moment to steady yourselves. What with all that deep political heft.
And because it bears repeating:

Readers who browse the comments of this blog – and by God, you should – will recall that Martha Lincoln, our associate professor, our fearless anthropologist – the one shutting down replies and retreating from any risk of correction – frames The Atlantic as right-wing.
For readers unfamiliar with this supposedly right-wing publication, allow me to share with you a few samples of its contents:
When women are oppressed by crumbs.
When women, especially black women, are oppressed by crossword puzzles.
When black women who thieve habitually are the real victims.
I could of course go on, but we’d be here all day.
And hey, in academia, all things are possible.

Band name.
Seattle notably qualified as one of Blutopia’s greatest hits.
A Tour of America’s Blue Utopias › American Greatness
That’s one of your best, barkeep.
Well, it bears repeating that the editors of the Atlantic were actively promoting the article as a “must-read,” a measure of the magazine’s importance to the progressive lifestyle. As if it might leave the reader feeling sympathetic towards the author. As if she were someone with whom they would obviously identify.
A choice that seems rather more telling than intended. Given the colossal hypocrisy that unfolds, and the fact that the article, supposedly so inspiring and exemplary, so morally improving, is basically an ode to antisocial selfishness. To a degree one might regard as pathological.
Old enough to recall the ‘one drop rule’ as irremediably bigoted.
Yesterday, as I re-read the piece, I scrolled down, having forgotten the mugshot reveal of our supposedly downtrodden Queen of Sacred Brownness.
There was a muffled chuckle.
So, come teatime, should I labour in the kitchen, heroically, in this unendurable heat, or should I just order Chinese takeaway?
I need guidance.
If you’re looking to boost your academic cred do the latter while claiming to have done the former.
I need guidance.
Chinese takeaway. They’re already laboring in the unendurable heat – make it worth their while.
If you insist.
[ Hides well-thumbed takeaway menu under desk. ]
[ Shouts into next room. ]
THEY SAY I SHOULD JUST GET TAKEAWAY.
David is labouring in unendurable heat? His hair will be ruined!
Unendurable heat, by location:
Yummy House takeout kitchen: 55C, 131F.
Semidesert (Ouagadougou, Kayes): 45C, 113F. Flood the rink once it gets to 32.
Humid tropical (Kumasi, Aripuana, Morgantown WV, Burlington Bay, ON): 35C, 95F.
North Sea maritime (Sheffield, remoter parts of Gloucestershire): 17C, 63F, or any home with forced-air central heating.
All depends on acclimatization.
Don’t drown, turn around.
Status update. I am full of Chinese food. Dessert may have to wait.
What a beautiful day on the internet. . . . Good Lord.
“I know, I’ll bathe my eyes in something salty, acidic and with trace amounts of bacteria.”
Only 17 years prison for premeditated murder.
Does anyone really think these people will embrace Western sanitation when the come here? #BeCarefulWhereYouEat
From what I’ve read, they’ll only serve half of that at the most.
Massachusetts, cradle of liberty, continues to lead the way in progressive progressiveness.
In this case, it’s “import Third World people, get Third World behavior”.
John Cleese has lost his sense of humor.
I just pulled a jar out from behind my rice canisters, it said it was “Pecan Pie in a Jar”.
It was not. It was more rice.
It was not. It was more rice.
dang – that’s a disappointment. i’m also guilty of re-using jars for other purposes, but i usually remove the labels first to avoid that scenario…
In the off-topic, FYI department.
Interesting how first chance they get, the leftist radicals occupy a space, set up housing, and start gardening. Well, “gardening.”
Looks kinda like… COLONIZING, innit?
“This is the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen.”
Heh. The Other Half was howling at that quite recently.
Amazing how these academics forget stuff.
The things I use my AI agent for, asking it to read a year’s worth of the comments here and describe four of y’all, specifically:
I’m definitely not the slim one . . .
Regarding the regulars, I tend to picture something more along these lines.
Just sayin’.
Yes, I mean literally abolish the left.
Because reform won’t happen.
WHERE DID YOU FIND MY FAMILY ALBUM?!
I always suspected that there were two Muldoons.
The police won’t do anything about the criminals, and they won’t allow you to either.
Heh. That’s pretty close to how I picture David, minus the gray. He’s blonde with a David-Bowie-circa-1990 haircut.
Is that two Sideshow Bobs?
[ Googles David Bowie haircuts. ]
I’m not seeing many good options there.
Sequinned blogging thong.
Or is that only for special occasions?
Still pondering what kind of savage has mislabelled jars.
Also, pie in a jar.
[ Peers in fridge, ponders leftover Chinese food. ]
The two “fat ladies” in that pic are smaller than two of the three women working the blood mobile I donated in yesterday. Honest injun. If you’re familiar with these vehicles, I was seriously uncertain that both of us would fit in the tiny privacy booth in the back. And the third woman was significantly overweight as well. These are healthcare professionals.
Y’all messing with us now. We were taught that “tea” consists of , of course tea, along with jam and light fluffy pastries or scones or finger sammiches. Now you have leftovers from your Chinese takeout to finish? The svelte and ‘angular face’ image is getting stressed.
Like soup in a bag.
Flattery yet.
The first two albums by The Two Muldoons, an American soft-rock/jazz-adjacent duo formed in the early 1970s by the brothers Marty Muldoon (vocals, electric piano, oboe, occasional kazoo) and Lenny Muldoon (rhythm guitar, bassoon, and the occasional slide whistle).
[ Eye twitches. ]
Since you ask, I’m working on tomorrow’s post. Should materialise just after midnight.
[ Resumes heroic toil. ]
