Just Thankful For The Towel, Frankly
Via Stephanie in the comments, a glimpse of the wider world and the wonders it contains. I’m assuming she collects these things. For reasons we won’t go into.

I mean, all things considered, this place is almost respectable.
Classy, even.
Oh, yes. Nearly forgot. Open thread.

And this couldn’t possibly get out of hand.
You see, the problem isn’t the problem; the problem is the person noticing the problem and doing something about it.
Exhibit A … as to why I’m not a fan of … inclusion … when devoid of judgement
Well, the AI might determine the blog and its commenters are inferior and wipe it, and them, from existence. But it’s a small price to pay for brief happiness.

Not being interested in either golf or horror movies, I find the ad not funny, but not Not Funny. It’s reasonable to interpret it that the female golfer is taken to be Just One of the Guys, she’s not being picked on as a woman, and not being spared as a woman from male horseplay and shenanigans.
Just One of the Guys has long been part of feminist propaganda aimed at boys, for example Atalanta in Free to be You and Me , which boys from the 70’s onwards got a dose of, but most boys over the decades weren’t stupid enough to believe it, especially when it came to physicality and mixed participation in contact sports: we knew what the differences were post puberty, we knew a female trash talker (because that’s how girls think boys relate to each other) can turn on a dime into a damsel in distress, and we knew that we could trust some girls not to turn into damsels individually (which I assume is the case with the D1 female golfer) but that we couldn’t trust the instant female consensus that would be offended on her behalf.
But it looks like these goofy golf executives have either unconsciously and uncritically internalized Just One of the Guys, or they consciously cast the ad on that principle and expected to be taken, by people who hate their type, as fascinatingly different from other white men.
The progressive mindset does seem to entail a remarkable amount of displacement.
Live rifle round found inside WW II tank. PSH* ensues.
Real men would think cool, and put it on a shelf. Emasculated men, however…

@Moai Apparently the woman who was shoved is/was receiving hate messages according to the news. Yes, the people upset over the “violence against women” in the ad are going after a woman.
I would like to see a Venn diagram of those people and the Lindsay Clancy supporters.
The sane thing to do would be to send her a crate of sharps disposal containers and a note of heartfelt thanks. But sane government officials are as rare as black swans–and in Washington they’re as rare as left-handed trans black swans.
Innocent face? And a stable of burly Nubians?
