They tried that same shite complaint in Memphis, TN as well. No reported shootings of line workers, surprisingly, but because it might take up to 5 days for the power to be fully back on for everyone, it’s obviously because the city is full of black people.
When Community Notes pointed out that the entire Memphis city government is also full of black people, some enterprising grifter posted photos of the board of the public utility, which happens to be mostly white, therefore proof of racism in getting the power back on.
I don’t have Twitter/X, so I could not see if anyone replied to the grifter that the previous head of said utility was black, and that he left voluntarily a couple years ago to be head of a utility in FL. So they had a black guy in charge of the power in Memphis, but he left.

I’d add that the rather squalid realities above are difficult to convey in a normal social situation. And so you may encounter people who wish to be seen as supportive of all things “trans”, because they’ve been watching the BBC and therefore know almost nothing about the phenomenon that they feel obliged to be seen supporting.
And in turn, if I’m in a social situation where nodding along or some affirming noise is expected of me, I have to decide whether to sidestep the subject or introduce the other person to a world of sad and grubby fetishism. Which is a very large part of what they’re affirming, if, perhaps, unwittingly.
And which isn’t necessarily what you want to think about when, say, having coffee with the neighbours.
