Mr. Scientist
the same lefty women who get the vapors if men whistle at them on the street are afraid to object to men in their showers.
I think they are more afraid of social stigma than molestation. Likewise, complaining about uncouth males in the street will, if anything, garner approbation.

So, having shrieked and flailed her hefty arms in order to prevent discussions taking place, and having gleefully thwarted people who’d travelled to take part in those discussions, and having been reduced to wheezing by a combination of obesity and hysterical exertion, Ms Segal may soon be scolding the credulous about how borders and law enforcement are “capitalist violence.” And about how the obesity that reduced her to wheezing is the fault of “colonial occupation” and the existence of a market economy.

LA homeless hotel “solution”
Unite Here Local 11, a progressive union representing 32,000 hospitality workers persuades its members to destroy their jobs.

The mandatory nature of the proposal is particularly intriguing: The hotel owners would be required to accept “homeless” people.
Wouldn’t it be better to require each of those union people to take in a dozen “homeless” drug addicts and felons?

And what’s the betting the police will charge the store owner for assault with a deadly weapon?

Meanwhile, the Yorkshire Kardashians.
Hotels take in homeless: and of course the hotel owners would be liable for anything that might happen. At the same time, the same cities make it increasingly difficult and expensive to build housing. They add amenities that a home must have, it must have more sq ft per person, now they want to mandate solar panels on all new construction, and if building apts they mandate that you reserve some for low income (ie a tax on your paying units). LA county for years waged war on trailer parks and small, old houses at the edge of town (not pleasing to the eye). They have laws in CA that anyone can sue to stop new construction on the flimsiest of bases (or none) so Unions sue if you hire non-union, neighbors sue who don’t want apts built, etc. It can take years and $ to get permits. But the lack of housing remains a mystery that they cannot unravel.
Trigglypuff: part of our problem is universities creating “studies” programs. All university degrees initially were for the purpose of some profession. You studied medicine or law or engineering (when that came along). Gentlemen could get a liberal arts degree and go back to their estate. Now, too many are getting useless degrees or a degree in grievance-mongering. Set up to be malcontents.

LA City council punts.
Not that the radical Left in Los Angeles are going to allow voters to reject their ordinance. It is filled with a lot of goodies because it isn’t aimed at “emergency housing” but in making it impossible to open any new hotels at all.
Crazy people are dangerous.

The new normal in Los Angeles (a thread).
And these are the people the Wokeistanians want to force hotels to house in empty rooms next to paying guests.
and if building apts they mandate that you reserve some for low income (ie a tax on your paying units)
But none dares calls it communism. Or as Darleen points out, the ultimate effect is to stop new construction entirely. It’s not so much the financial tax on your paying units as it is the impact this will have on your ability to ever rent/sell those units for anything near a viable profit. So government-manufactured housing crisis deepens providing even more “justification” for the government to step in and control those units. See, the commies have gotten a little smart here. Similar to what Brandon has done with oil permits and leases and such, give the dumbass citizens (especially the “smart” ones) a target to blame so that they clamor for their government daddy/god to fix it all for them. I know a good number of the kinds of dumbasses this would appeal to. I’ve worked with them launching rockets and building military logistics systems. Some were even my bosses. Quite a few are even conservatives…”conservatives” who would scoff at the very idea that any of this could possibly lead to communism.

I also have known “conservatives” of that sort.
WTP
Is this something new in the US? Here in the UK new build estate regulations require that the builders provide a certain quota of social housing/affordable homes.
A typical development will involve 25% of the total number of units falling into this category. Unless this concession is made at the planning application stage permission to proceed is most unlikely to be granted. This is nothing new, I am aware of examples dating back to the late 1980’s.

I know Twit is not most people, but it is frightening to see the response to FJB’s Income Reduction Act’s plan to shove $80 billion to the IRS and double the number of agents as “no worries, just don’t cheat on your taxes and everything will be just fine.”
I’m agog. Especially when even an ENROLLED AGENT is shoveling that equine excrement. Excellent response here.
This is nothing new
Maybe in some urban markets like New York City, but this taking of private property in order to be allowed to develop has never been widespread in the US at all.

I seem to recall that back in the 80’s Santa Monica imposed a requirement that new building permits would require some other improvements, like playgrounds or parks or schools or such to be built by the developer. I do not recall anything like this specifically, however. Though I have heard about some section-8 requirements that I believe were implemented/imposed as part of the 2008 housing crash “resolutions”. But I thought that was based on qualifying for the bailouts.

I have seen a few reports of such takings, all in large cities run by liberals.
And don’t forget the program that Barack Obama launched, to force peaceful quiet communities to accept special section-8 housing developments–because “justice” demands that every neighborhood have its “fair share” of dysfunctional people.
LA doesn’t need more luxury hotels? Where do they think jobs come from? Of course, jobs just fall from the sky…while they are busy shutting business down. “wage theft” my ass.
“low income housing” in this case means the developer creates housing and sells it way below his cost, because it can’t actually be “low income housing”, that would be gauche. This has mostly been a CA and NYC thing. They imagine that everyone makes six figure salaries, like themselves.
IRS: as someone pointed out, they can’t do their job as it is. In 3 of the past 4 years, they sent me a letter that I owed money, but they had not registered a check I sent or did the math wrong or something each time. They can’t answer the phone. They used to have an online system that you could check the details of your return to see what they think you did (what you paid them etc). Now I can’t log in anymore. They are so desperate for $ that they want to eliminate cash so big brother can audit every dollar. Who they will really catch here are small businesses like roofers and food trucks.
Who they will really catch here are small businesses like roofers and food trucks.
Don’t forget all the working class and middle class people who cannot afford to pay an accountant $$$ each year to protect them from the IRS. As Larry Correia remarks, the tax law is so large and complex that nobody can fully understand it. You could have 100 different CPA’s do your tax return and get 100 different numbers. Every innocent mistake will be used as an excuse to impose fines upon innocent taxpayers. And often enough the IRS auditors will be making mistakes.
And often enough the IRS auditors will be making mistakes.
Sometimes it is not a “mistake” at all but an auditor having a bad day or one that feels you aren’t submissive enough. So, they’ll just tell you “No, you owe X and we’re tacking YZ in fines and penalties” just to cost you time, money and tons of heartache to fight it through the tax court.
It’s akin to what Oberlin College is STILL continuing to do to the Gibson family. Process as punishment.
And often enough the IRS auditors will be making mistakes.
Heh. For shitsandgrins I thought I would search the tax code for the word “woman”. I did get a hit in the Definitions section (or more accurately one of the Definitions sections) but could not find the actual word. Though with some further searching around, there are a significant number of references to ‘mother’, ‘father’, ‘son’, etc. Also interestingly is how many references to a child use just the he/him pronouns but not anything else. Why hasn’t this transphobic gender identity oppressive documentation been fixed already? (*stomps foot*) (*facial expression of righteousness indignation*)
Process as punishment.
Yes. And often enough the fine is smaller than the $$ you would have to pay an accountant to prove your innocence. And the IRS functions as police, judge, jury, and executioner. Legal gangsterism.
This is accurate.

The sport in question is Gaelic Football. It is not as physical as rugby but it is considerably more physical than soccer.
Most female players, even on the adult teams, are teenagers. My daughter played adult football as a 14 year old! I would certainly not have allowed her onto the pitch to play against a man.
I played Gaelic football at a very low level. One evening our opposition was unable to field and made up a scratch team just so that we could play a match. The team that they cobbled together included a woman from the female section of the club who had been training on a nearby pitch- she was one of the top players in the country at the time.
At the start of the match she was being marked by one of our defenders – a big construction worker. After a few minutes he refused to mark her any more- he was terrified of hurting her (quite rightly- in training I was often poleaxed by him). I ended up marking her and it was one of my easier matches even though I was a not very fit mediocre male footballer in my late 30s.
About the gang that robbed and beat that 70-year-old Asian woman last week in SF and returned to beat her some more:
The culprits are 18, 14, 13, and 11. All black, of course. Note that: 11 years old and already a vicious feral monster.
Kicking defenseless elderly innocents in the head? Sentence them to death. Force their family and friends to watch the executions.
to add to my previous post.
I am only really catching up with this story- was offline for most of the last week.
The Gaelic games discussion board that I usually follow has been painful in its attempts not to hurt transgender feelings in this matter and to avoid commenting on this individual, in spite of his having posted disturbing social media pictures of himself. Most posters are however of view that biological males should not be competing.
I recall some of the fathers of girls who were on my daughter’s team. Had this individual so much as physically brushed against their daughters he would have had his pain threshold well tested.
Ah, a return to the good old days

Rugby: in college we got a coed volleyball team together. Before long the ladies all quit because we were bumping into them. So we joined the male league. This was volleyball. Men should not be competing with women in any contact sport.
Trigglypuff has lost weight and learned how to apply eye makeup! Who’d have thought?
“Men should not be competing with women in any contact sport.”
Agree. Also, men should not hit women under any circumstances, leave the seat when a middle aged lady with a couple of bags of shipping steps in the bus, etc etc
Problem is we are in an age where a lot of women are shrieking about “gender equality” in sports, movies are full of “strong” women and young boys are being told that being protective towards women or considering their weaker physicality is “toxic masculinity”.
It’s not going to end well. This is just the beginning.
