Pronouns Were Stipulated
And over at the University of Alberta:
As an academic drag queen, Tommy is uniquely embodied in their scholarship and praxis of teaching and learning and has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, including their forthcoming co-edited collection of essays on RuPaul’s Drag Race as it relates to teaching and learning.
Tommy, we’re told, has a “decolonial, anti-racist, and equity-driven intersectional vision,” which is just the ticket, apparently. For an Executive Director of a Centre for Teaching and Learning. At a university with serious budget problems and supposedly gripped by austerity. Our cross-dressing educator will nonetheless bring to bear “strategies and resources for positive engagement with gender pronouns,” while prompting the less enlightened to “reflect on whiteness, marginalisation, trauma, and continued struggle.” Against reality, one assumes.

“Same-sex partner (also named Tommy)”
I suppose the trick is to try to be philosophical as we sinks beneath the waves, at least there will be a many pronged comedy act to keep us amused.
“Same-sex partner (also named Tommy)”
For some reason, this came to mind.
Tommy are rather full of themselves, aren’t they?
Does Tommy speak of themselves in first-person singular or first-person plural? Does Tommy say “I” or “we”? I’m reminded of Mark Twain’s dictum that the use of “we” for individuals should be limited to kings, editors, and people with tapeworms.
“We are #UAlberta!
Dedicated to excellence and uplifting the whole people.”
I’m not convinced. I’ll need to see more evidence of that.
See, this is why I don’t fear living in a cardboard box beneath a highway overpass in my old age. There is always employment for the outrageous and with a strong imagination, I’m sure I can think up something.
Academic drag queen.. I recall a moment in time when Chaz Bono, Cher’s spawn, was still Chastity Bono and described herself in an interview as a “lesbian activist.” And I thought to myself, how does one get a job like that? What training or credentials does one need to be employed as a lesbian activist? Is there a certification or degree for it offered somewhere?
Perhaps I should just transcend all of that and simply declare myself to be God. Not a gif, but God. No sense in wasting time.
And my first act as the Almighty is to do away with autocorrect.
“A god”, not gif.
Does Tommy speak of themselves in first-person singular or first-person plural?
Apparently neither, from the slide deck:
Unless he is having a psychotic break, I am not entirely sure why there would be a reason for him to refer to himself in the third person unless he is the secret great-grandson of Countess Anastasia.
Not exactly a mystery why, poor dog, and isn’t he assuming the dog’s pronouns ?
Who can argue with scholarship like that ?
As one twitter response says, “Professor of Narcissism Studies, perhaps?”
And my first act as the Almighty is to do away with autocorrect.
The gods, they mock us.
As one twitter response says, “Professor of Narcissism Studies, perhaps?”
The university does seem to be trying to elevate self-involvement to the status of Deep Thought.
And insofar as drag queens are funny, or meant to be funny, to adults, it’s because they’re lurid and grotesque. That’s the whole point, the customary intention. It’s a bizarre and ugly parody of femininity. So, I can’t help wondering how the intersectional calculus is supposed to work here, or how the drag thing squares with wider pretensions of being terribly right-on. Are female students – including, one assumes, feminists – supposed to approve? And what if they don’t?

Mr Newman walks among us.
Someone fetch my pearls.
Alas, not for long…real life beckons once more. 🙁
In other cross dressing news:
“It’s just a dick, deal with it” is rich coming from feminists who fly into a rage if men even glance at them in the supermarket.
Did I say “rich?” I meant “psychotic.”
My pronoun is ‘sir’. That does in most circumstances I can think of.
The evidence of the utter corruption of ‘peer review’ grows every day.
As do the gifs.
For some reason, this came to mind.
Oh gosh, remember when Steve (Steveageddon) was still here and was able to do the double: wither Minnow with a single sentence, and reduce the rest of us to helpless giggles? Blissful times…
What the heck is an “academic drag queen”?
Which leads me to wonder: in Intersectional Grievance Poker, who holds the better hand – black or trans? Pretty much all the others have been sidelined by these two.
Meanwhile, the US forces continue their decline:

Unfortunately, when the enemy engages you, you don’t always have the luxury of “choosing your own adventure.”
For those who like to keep track of these things, I should start watching the final season of Bosch this evening. Hopefully, it’ll be an improvement on season six, which showed a noticeable dip in quality.
Unfortunately, when the enemy engages you, you don’t always have the luxury of “choosing your own adventure.”
These people are f*****g morons. From Biden on down to any fitness or DI instructor who goes along with this bullshit. Careerism is no excuse here. You won’t have much of a career if you’re dead because a fellow soldier/airman/whatever can’t do the minimum of their job. Of course our military is thinking it will only need desk jockeys who operate drones and robots from remote locations, so really what does it matter, eh? Maybe they’re right but wars/conflicts have a funny way of not playing out according to “experts” expectations. I was feeling better lately but the closer we get to the Fourth, my second favorite holiday after Thanksgiving…which itself the leftist scum managed to ruin, the more bloody depressed I am getting. Is it me or has there been a slight uptick in stories about turning our military into pussies the last week or two?
The evidence of the utter corruption of ‘peer review’ grows every day.
Well, you couldn’t have the ravings of halfwitted narcissistic mentalists and perverts reviewed by real academics, could you? Then it wouldn’t be a peer review.
which showed a noticeable dip in quality.
I’ve been watching Route 66. The last two episodes were directed by Sam Pekinpah and Robert Altman. Guest stars have included Robert Duvall, Robert Redford, Lee Marvin, Keenan Wynn, Walter Mathau, E. G. Marshall, Rod Steiger. The camera work could more accurately be described as cinematography. The 60s morality is a little corny but that’s viewed through jaded eyes. So by comparison most of what gets made today is a noticeable dip in quality.
Oh, and last night I watched the finale of The Haunting of Hill House. It wasn’t entirely successful, I thought, and felt somewhat removed in tone from previous episodes. After a promising opening (who’s banging on the door?, etc), it sagged a little, lost some deftness and economy, and relied too heavily on lengthy, overwrought speeches. At times, the drama was tripping over the florid dialogue. I didn’t mind the (sort-of) happy ending, but overall, it was a little underwhelming, given some of what preceded it.
As usual, over at Spiked, Brendan O’Neill is spot on regarding the “Wi Spa” affair:
Trans people cannot know what it is like to “really” be a woman if they start out as a man. They want to become what they imagine women are like, but as we see in most cases they have wildly exaggerated ideas of feminine appearance, behavior, sexuality, and culture. What they become is a parody, a distortion, of being female. This is especially true when they haven’t had surgery. No women sashay around like that or put on tons of makeup like that. There is no connection to reality. And when they still want to have sex with women, it shows even further how they have no idea what women are like.
But can he play a mean pinball?
I should start watching the final season of Bosch this evening
SPOILER: There’s too much Maddie.
SPOILER: There’s too much Maddie.
At least that fits the main plot, unlike the “incel” cop sub-plot which added not a damn thing.
There’s too much Maddie.
She’s not really a load-bearing character, or actress. I’d prefer more Honey Chandler.
O it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an’ “Tommy, go away”;
End of poem.
Good news everyone, a victory for plastic surgery, artificial endocrinology, and makeup.
A bit of an understatement, though I’d put my money a virtue signal brighter than the sun.

Er…at least the grey sponge cake isn’t self-ambulatory, unlike the sausage roll that lurks around these parts.
Regarding that beauty contest winner, he’s not redfining what it means to be a woman. He’s not even redfining what it means to be beautiful, since that’s already gone down that road for actual women long ago. With as much plastic surgery, hormone cocktails, and troweled on makeup as he has, I could win beauty contests too. I’m with Muldoon on this one – supernova virtue signal. Besides – weren’t Beauty Contests a Thing of the Past in the age of Me Too and Feminism? So it could also be a last gasp at relevance too.
