So, to recap: Professed educator (and by implication, lofty moral being) endangers other road users by faffing about with her phone while driving. Then, when stopped on account of this behaviour, doesn’t have her license, and immediately and repeatedly accuses the police officer of being a murderer, before indulging in a gleefully racist outpouring.
Much of her behaviour seems intended to provoke – perhaps with an eye to the glories of victimhood.

But I think public shaming is needed. That woman is quite willing to record the murderous deputy, so should she not accept the same? Show her face and show her name. Two questions or clarifications.
So much of the video is blurred out that there isn’t much to see. But from an unblurred glimpse of the arm and the hand, it seems to me that the driver is black. Is that correct and taken for granted? Or is the story going to get amalgamated into the Karen category?
When the Fox News heading says that the driver is mocking the Hispanic ethnicity of the police officer, this isn’t correct. Her mental association is (i) cops => murderous intentions, (ii) murderous intentions => white, (iii) Hispanic cop => trying to win approval from whites by murdering blacks. The insult against the cop is personal, but the ethnic slur (and it’s a severe one) is against whites. It looks like maybe she thought the cop was white until she saw his name on the ticket because that was when the language switched from murderer to “you’ll never be white”.
And by the way, if the cop was white and she was only insulting him for belonging to a race of murderers, would that have made it to Fox News? Or is it only on Fox News because a black lady teacher pulling intersectional (not to mention class) rank on Hispanic cop shows that Dems R the real racists?

Are her peers going to look at the video, from whatever angle, and agree that she was being threatened with death or any violence whatsoever ? In what alternate reality does she come out as a victim ?

Much of her behaviour seems intended to provoke – perhaps with an eye to the glories of victimhood.
If she can provoke someone into losing their temper, even a little bit, then she can post that tiny part of the video on YouTube to “prove” that white people are racists. And in the meantime she has the satisfaction of having made a decent white person’s life just a little more unpleasant. What’s more, there rarely any social consequences for a black person being caught in racist behavior.
Further on the Basecamp meltdown.
Again, the dogmatism and posturing are so contrived, so removed from normal proprieties and reciprocal expectations, that attempts at honest discussion seem largely futile. Certainly unrewarding.
[ Added: ] As we’ve seen many times, woke psychology appeals to a person’s vanity, and its practitioners are usually very status-conscious and largely driven by in-group social positioning. The dynamic is therefore competitive, and therefore self-ratcheting, and therefore prone to dogmatism, extremism and breathless fantasy. all that’s done is demonstrate that most of these interactions with police are entirely instigated and escalated by the perps.
One of my lingering memories of the reality show Cops – for a year or so, a guilty pleasure – was just how often the interaction was driven south by the needless belligerence of the person being stopped. Often with minor incidents suddenly escalating in ways that were almost farcical. That, and that certain demographics seem rather more prone to belligerence than others.
And then there are the smug, preening leftists whose advice, if taken seriously, seems all but guaranteed to degrade any such interaction, perhaps disastrously. As when Salon’s Scott Eric Kaufman told his equally smug leftist readers that young black men “shouldn’t have to” comply with lawful instructions from the police under any circumstances. Mr Kaufman, a white man, dismissed any cooperation with the police as being “servile,” presumably on grounds that being by default combative and physical will improve the situation no end.

People whose lives are consumed with finding microaggressions and milking the gravy train to make it pay do not know how to behave in a dignified manner. For all we know, “behaving in a dignified manner” is a sign of white supremacy, a marker of colonization, and something that must be disrupted and decolonized toot sweet.

If true, I wouldn’t blame him. If Minneapolis is any indication, the moment some video goes viral, the cop involved better brace for the bus crunching over him. The feckless middle management types that run the police departments around the West are more than happy to acquiesce to the mob. It wouldn’t at all be surprising then if exculpatory evidence from a bodycam happens to experience a “technical glitch that prevented recording” when the riots have already been raging for days. Having a personal backup is prudent.

I haven’t much of an opinion on the BaseCamp meltdown. On the one hand, it seems like the most toxic employees have removed themselves from the company. On the other hand, so has the most sensible senior executive and technical lead.
I remember 37signals mostly for their iconoclastic approach to product management in the Web 2.0 days; of course, “iconoclastic” does not equate to “right”. He’s a deputy, so it depends if he’s part of the current Sheriff’s little clique. Villanueva is a nasty piece of work who’ll back his buddies right or wrong. As soon as he was elected he rehired several who had been kicked out, including one fired for stalking, domestic violence, and lying to Internal Affairs. That kicked off a power struggle with the Board of Supervisors (who are also assholes), which the Board ultimately won. About the only good thing that can be said for Villanueva is he doesn’t like LA County’s misbegotten DA, George Gascon.

Having a personal backup is prudent.
unless he doesn’t trust his department to have his back.
I can’t imagine why a cop in #CurrentYear might believe that.
One of their bon mots was “don’t bother to track customer reports of bugs or feature requests; if it’s really important it’ll come up again and again and you won’t be able to ignore it”.
I read another report that said he had two body cams, a departmental cam and his own cam.
Found it. According to Fox News:
Also, TMZ says the woman’s claim to be a teacher might need an asterisk. The two colleges she claims to have worked for say she hasn’t been employed since 2016 and 2017. They also say she hasn’t been employed by any institution in the Los Angeles Community College District since the Spring semester of 2017.
It seems odd to wear two body cams unless he doesn’t trust his department to have his back.
Even if he doesn’t have a second body cam, it’d be prudent to give the impression he did. Then if the police department/ main stream media contemplates getting cute with an edited video, they risk getting badly wrong-footed. And sued into the ozone layer for having done so.

And in what capacity? Lunch lady, perchance, Mercedes notwithstanding?
On the gripping hand, if those individuals are removing themselves from the company over this issue, perhaps they aren’t *that* sensible.
She’s a real prize

The guy missed a bet when the man (?) said he didn’t think that those things are happening. He should have said, “Then we’re agreed that such things would be reprehensible if they occurred, correct?”
IIRC, in CA a teaching credential needs to be renewed every 5 years. Wonder what the status of hers is. Has her name been published yet?
He’s a deputy, so it depends if he’s part of the current Sheriff’s little clique. Villanueva is a nasty piece of work who’ll back his buddies right or wrong. As soon as he was elected he rehired several who had been kicked out, including one fired for stalking, domestic violence, and lying to Internal Affairs. That kicked off a power struggle with the Board of Supervisors (who are also assholes), which the Board ultimately won. About the only good thing that can be said for Villanueva is he doesn’t like LA County’s misbegotten DA, George Gascon.
Has her name been published yet?
Haven’t seen it anywhere yet. Most sites say they have purposely not published her name. It certainly must be known.

I expect one of two things is true:
1) Singer’s resignation was demanded, not offered;
2) Singer decided the company was a lost cause and chose to take his skills elsewhere.
As a company and a product, Basecamp has long since reached the steady-state point. That’s generally when startup founders punch out anyway.
…and now for something completely different.
Far past recovery and well into the next County by now.
Violence is everywhere
Somewhat related, a bold use of the word gaslighting.
The damsel in question, aka “Commie DickGurl.”
Love her 5 o’clock shadow.
I think we’ll give that one a post of its own.
Comments that-a-way.

That reminds me: One of the “afrocentric” “scholars” who became notorious during the Science Wars of the 1990’s wrote his bio to falsely imply that he was a research physicist whereas in reality he was merely a lab technician. (Sorry I cannot remember his name.)
More on the incident:
“The LA County Sheriff’s department told Fox News that the woman in the video called internal affairs and filed a harassment complaint against the deputy immediately after the incident. The department also said that the woman has a history of making false claims against deputies.
Fox News has identified the woman, but she has not responded to the network’s multiple requests for comment.”
The woman in the Benz keeps calling the cop a murderer, but I think a jury would rule her death at the scene a tragic accident.
“You’re scaring me”
The reflex, entitled ‘respect my feelings’ attitude, while she relentlessly verbally abuses him..
Make that a non-tragic accident.
Further on the Basecamp meltdown.
Nonsense. They’re extremely convenient. For the accuser.
“You’re scaring me”
I’m surprised she didn’t shout “I can’t breathe!”
