Mind Control Not Yet Achieved, Weeping Ensues
Further to this lively exchange, a new form of “violence” has been conjured into being:
Or, “Yes, you pretend what I tell you to pretend, but I can still tell that you’re pretending.”
Or, “Your perceptions are still your own and this outrages me.”
Update, via the comments:
Our neotenous offendee, ¿jordan¿, is now, inevitably, feigning surprise that his – sorry, their - “simple statement” was found in any way debateable, or indeed megalomaniacal:
lmaoooo i did not expect such a simple statement to shake the room like this… it’s simply about people respecting your pronouns as a bare minimum action and doing nothing else to even genuinely see you for who you are beyond how they refer to you, it’s very superficial.
How dare you decline to hallucinate and not “even genuinely” see what he tells you to see at any given time, you superficial bigot. Now step aside, oppressor, there are selfies to be taken.
As Alice notes,
So doing what he wants is even more ‘violent’ than not doing what he wants.
#gratitude
Well, quite. And if someone is at odds with themselves, with their physical being, then making demands of others, expecting them to lie, and then complaining that said lies are insufficiently convincing and therefore “even more violent” – none of this seems likely to alter the basic dissonance. Though it does seem likely to test the patience of anyone inclined to be indulgent. Goodwill being a finite resource and all.

I read some of the replies. Irony is lost on this one: https://twitter.com/bimbosonly/status/1349519653698236418
Apparently, the way to avoid being “superficial” is to assume that wearing ostentatiously female clothing and false eyelashes makes any person female. There being nothing else to consider, you see.
And it seems to me that if, in order to bolster your claims, you’re reduced to citing Judith Butler, a noted fantasist and liar, then you really have veered off the road and into a ditch.
Apparently, the way to avoid being “superficial” is…
Leftists and lunatics invent all sorts of new meanings for ordinary words.
Again, “Physical reality must always and forever bow to my preferences” is a big ask.
Not unrelated, a “…Black man weighing in at about 200 pounds…” speaks to us about his travails now that he doesn’t have to isolate himself from the Worst Virus Evar™.
Dude writes this in to the NY Times from Santa Fe, New Mexico. For those unfamiliar, which evidently includes the entire staff and 90% of the readers of the NY Times, Santa Fe is about an inch to the right of Portland (as is the entire state of New Mexico) and non-Hispanic wypipo are less than half the population so one would be forgiven if one believed his claim that “I stand out in the predominantly white spaces I inhabit” may not be entirely realistic, unless he is going to antifa meetings.
First reply… “exactly”
So…forcing people to submit to confusing syntax — to talk and write like an illiterate fool with the threat of cancellation and even job loss if you fail to do so — only goes so far in winning over hearts and minds?
‘You are a slow learner, Winston,’ said O’Brien gently.
‘How can I help it?’ he blubbered. ‘How can I help seeing what is in front of my eyes? Two and two are four.’
‘Sometimes, Winston. Sometimes they are five. Sometimes they are three. Sometimes they are all of them at once. You must try harder. It is not easy to become sane.’
I don’t want you to just acknowledge me as a woman, I want you to want to acknowledge me as a woman.

“The question is,” as Alice says to Humpty Dumpty, “whether you can make words mean so many different things.”
It’s all about the False Consciousness, of course.
“You’re crazy if you don’t accept my absurd assertions and demands!”
Off the road, into a ditch, down the gully, off the cliff & into the great wild yonder.
The limits to this nonsense promise to be quite unpleasant when finally reached.
it’s simply about people respecting your pronouns as a bare minimum action
One can always wear a “Hello, My Name is” sticker for the rest of their lives. Perhaps have it tattooed on the forehead, though it may be hard to spot given all the other facial embellishments.
Or, “Yes, you pretend what I tell you to pretend, but I can still tell that you’re pretending.”
Or, “Your perceptions are still your own and this outrages me.”
Or, “I’m going to be offended and angry no matter what you you do, so your best bet is to ignore me until I go away. Which I will, as soon as I figure out that you are not going to give me the attention I crave.”
Here is what I don’t get about the whole pronoun farrago – usually these ninnies are replacing he/him etc. with they/them or other horsecrap.
These are third person pronouns, IOW, used when the offended person is not there, so short of the Pronoun Stasi reporting someone, how the hell would they (plural persons using made up pronouns, not one buffoon referring too himself as they) even know ?
Which I will, as soon as I figure out that you are not going to give me the attention I crave
This right here is the fundamental flaw in why things continue to get worse. These people are not going to go away until they GET the attention they feel that they deserve. This is why their attempts to get attention ratchet up and up and up. What they really are looking for is to be put in their place in no uncertain terms. It is pack animal behavior, just like you see in dogs. People who do not maintain some degree of discipline with their dogs have serious problems with them. Dogs, like any pack animal, are biologically programmed to try to take the lead. To fight for dominance. But once they are made pets, while they understand that the human has incredible power and provides them their food and water, the urge to lead is still there. They are programmed to test it. When the human fails to lead, when the dog is allowed to rule the house, even the dog himself is unhappy and will exhibit behavior problems because deep down at his instinctual level, he understands that he is the weaker one. Yet when the leader (human) exhibits weakness, he cannot help but try to lead himself. It’s a cycle of fear and anxiety that will not simply go away by ignoring it.
These are third person pronouns, IOW, used when the offended person is not there, so short of the Pronoun Stasi reporting someone, how the hell would they (plural persons using made up pronouns, not one buffoon referring too himself as they) even know ?
And this. Exactly this. I have been meaning to ask the same question for a couple of weeks now, I’ve just gotten distracted by whatever the problem du jour was.
misgendering sucks, but what feels even more violent is when people get my pronouns right and i can tell they still perceive me as a man
So doing what he wants is even more ‘violent’ than not doing what he wants.
#gratitude
So doing what he wants is even more ‘violent’ than not doing what he wants.

Well, indeed. And if someone is at war with themselves, with their physical being, then making demands of others, followed by more demands – expecting them to lie, while announcing that this is not only inadequate but actually worse – none of this seems likely to alter the basic conflict. Though it does seem likely to test the patience of anyone inclined to be indulgent. Goodwill being a finite resource and all.
“The question is,” as Alice says to Humpty Dumpty, “whether you can make words mean so many different things.”
“The question is,’ said Humpty Dumpty, ‘which is to be master.”
The evidence would suggest that Humpty Dumpty was right.

I’m assuming that ¿jordan¿ prefers to be imagined as an ethereal genderfluid non-binary being. A capricious, glittering unicorn. Hence the beard and handbag. And the endless selfies.

It is pack animal behavior
I don’t think that’s the right analogy.
These people are emotionally retarded – children, internally. Children act out and test boundaries not as a form of dominance challenging, but because they need to know that there are boundaries and what/where they are. They’re scared without boundaries; within the boundaries they’re safe and secure and things are predictable. Set the boundaries – hard, and consistently – and they’ll back down.
@ DR: “These people are emotionally retarded – children, internally.”
Yes!
When I lectured in behaviour management I defined four patterns of manipulative behaviour in ways that I hoped would arm my often well meaning, but gullible students, against being suckered. They are:
1. “Aren’t I cute”: children and adults who overplay being ‘nice’ to get around teachers and parents, e.g. I love you daddy; can I stay up for another half an hour?”
2. Apparently out-of-control, even violent, temper tantrums best exemplified by John McEnroe and more recently the execrable Williams. I distinguish between out-of-control behaviour indicative of true distress and ‘put on’ temper tantrums to manipulate others. McEnroe’s tantrum in Melbourne when he was disqualified is an example of a tantrum for effect: he had not read the tournament rules which stipulated three warnings and then DQ. He thought he would get four warnings and thus was caught out. He was completely in control of himself as he acted distressed. This was crass gamesmanship. [By the way the longest tantrum I witnessed lasted 7.5 hours when one of my female autistic clients, aged 32 tried it out on me when she came into residential care. She had always won with her overly kind parents and did try violence with me, but she found out I either ignored her attacks completely or she hurt herself trying to hit/kick me – and I kept smiling which pissed her off as I was supposed to become concerned and scared of her actions then give in to her. My calm, smiling demeanour effectively punished her for her antics her until she broke and complied. After that her tantrums quickly diminished in frequency, duration and intensity. She was smart enough to realise that she had given it her best shot, but had failed completely. However she could never go back to her parents house as both were elderly and she would have beaten them to a pulp; they would never have been able to regain the power they had in her earl, toddler years.]
3. The silent treatment: refusing to respond in any way to teachers or parents: I can’t hear you, see you, etc. Also women are very good at using this to control their husbands.
4. Sulking, pouting, whining [Poor me!]. In essence emotional blackmail often used by teenage girls: “If you cared you would let me go out with my friends.” or ‘You don’t love me! If you did you would give me more pocket money like Sarah’s father gives her.”
In the course of an interaction where someone is trying to gain control of others they will, of course, switch, between types of manipulative behaviour to try to baffle and confuse their target.
Children act out and test boundaries not as a form of dominance challenging, but because they need to know that there are boundaries and what/where they are. They’re scared without boundaries; within the boundaries they’re safe and secure and things are predictable. Set the boundaries – hard, and consistently – and they’ll back down.
Oh, I definitely agree it applies to children/humans as well. Not to argue semantics but packs and tribes are similar, with families being a subset of a tribe. Either way, the problem/solution is the same. And ignoring the behavior does not address the underlying problem of boundaries not being enforced.
A further thought about ‘childish’ behaviour: some 26 years ago I was asked to review a 5 year old child who was yet to have a developmental assessment. As it turned out he had an FSIQ of 41 and was autistic. He also presented with precocious spoken language which distracted people from his underlying developmental issues. He had been put in a mainstream kindergarten where he immediately caused mayhem. I spent a day observing him as well as ensuring he didn’t hurt other children, then followed his mother to her house when she collected him. She sent him off to play and have a snack while we discussed my observations. After some 10 minutes or so Peter, wanting attention, came over and climbed onto the kitchen bench where we were talking and demanded “Look at me when I’m having a tantrum!” I indicated discretely to his mother we would not look at him but keep chatting cheerfully. After stamping his feet a couple of times and not receiving any attention he got down and went back to play.
In essence the behaviour du jour of the left-wing, Antifa, BLM, transistor & alphabet people, etc. is the same as Peter demanding attention when having a toddler tantrum. It is the behaviour, in adults, of self-indulgent and socially immature toddlers.
WTP: “And ignoring the behavior does not address the underlying problem of boundaries not being enforced.”
An important part of any intervention is to ask the screamers “What should YOU be doing to make things better?” Of course they don’t know and, to some extent, they don’t want a solution to the social issues about which they claim to have concern. It’s just too easy [and fun] to remain a screaming thug and avoid responsibility and [like Peter, John McEnroe and S. Williams] gain often sympathetic attention from gullible onlookers .
Remember the other day we were talking about the Black Hammer Organisation? Well this….

It’s the same attention seeking thing.
@ Felicity: The thing in pink is an example of “Aren’t I cute? Look at me [Mummy]! I’m playing ‘dress-ups'” In other words Mummy’s little boy really is a codependent adult toddler, though probably considers itself as a free person with a mind of its own.
one buffoon referring too himself as they
Is it, perhaps, the commoners’ equivalent of the Royal We?
“Is it, perhaps, the commoners’ equivalent of the Royal We?”
The use of ‘they’ as distinct from ‘I’ is essentially to define oneself as an object not having a strong or adequate Self of one’s own, i.e. I, me, my Self.
We often see young and low IQ autistic children talking about themselves as though they are objects. One of my lads used to call himself ‘the Braden’; it took quite a few years before he could define himself as ‘I’. In such cases we find that separation from the mother figure has not yet occurred completely if at all, and they mimic/echo Mother’s language when referring to themselves. [This also explains ‘I’ versus ‘you’ reversal in such people.]
I would suggest that many of these very ‘unusual’ folks making fools of themselves actually are extremely fragile psychologically. In decades past they would have been given the diagnosis of ‘nutters’, but now they have RIGHTS and are considered by the progressives as normal.
Even the Victorian Government, one of the most woke in Australia, hasn’t quite got the hang of this pronoun business – our state broadcaster had to step in and studiously modify spoken statements (just count the square brackets) regarding suspended bureaucrat Matiu Bush (they/them). I’m actually surprised they haven’t gone back and updated older articles featuring the man in question.
…suspended bureaucrat Matiu Bush…
If you must read the article, don’t look at the pictures.
Going completely off-topic (cough), can anyone here remember the German word for ‘a face in need of a fist’?

Well, the question was actually in jest, considering the visage of Matiu Bush.
Indeed. On the other hand, I think there is another German word for ‘a face in need of a fist’: Französisches Schweinhund
“Französisches Schweinhund”
I seem to have absorbed enough other languages to have an idea what that meant.
Gargle Translate confirmed it.
🙂

M’kay…but those Antifa toddlers have Molotov cocktails, fireworks, rocks, green lasers, etc… Not sure simply ignoring them is really an option. How do you propose to prevent damage to the rest of the city and not give them any “attention” ? Normally, one might suggest, isolation, arrest, prosecution and incarceration. But in the current “catch & release” state – what are your options ?
I would suggest that many of these very ‘unusual’ folks making fools of themselves actually are extremely fragile psychologically.
The devil you say.
M’kay…but those Antifa toddlers have Molotov cocktails, fireworks, rocks, green lasers, etc…
To me, this looks like the tantrum behavior modified to work in a larger society. City, state, or federal government aren’t going to care about or notice most random shrieking until it devolves into molotovs, etc. Sadly, most of this violence is purposely and intelligently directed which makes acquiescing more dangerous than giving in to the older mobs of common citizens. It is weird that intelligent actors have adopted mob violence in a time when mobs of violent commoners are mostly nonexistent and while the state has suddenly decided crushing mobs is bad form.
Literally fuck your pronouns.
