Doesn’t she read the Babylon Bee?
‘WASHINGTON, D.C.—The dangerous, evil, all-powerful, fascist, Nazi dictator Donald Trump has been voted out of office and censored, as is tradition for evil dictators.
“I never thought I’d live to see the day where America is ruled by a dictator!” said concerned American Kelly Lampler. “But at least now he’s a dictator that has been effortlessly silenced online!”
“We are living through scary times indeed under the rule of this fascistic tyrant,” said worried CNN reporter Zeeke Chambers at a time when zero journalists or dissenters have been silenced, jailed, or executed by this administration.’

Doesn’t she read the Babylon Bee?
Well, quite. But the first rule of modern leftism is to flatter oneself, preferably in gratuitously dramatic terms. And so, “dictators” have to be invented, however improbably, and then “toppled,” albeit with elections.
She is stunning and brave! She says so herself!
Alas, this afternoon she was admitted to a hospital emergency ward with a dislocated shoulder. Patting yourself on the back can be hazardous.
She is stunning and brave! She says so herself!
It must be tiring to devote so much effort to flattering oneself, publicly and ostentatiously, on a seemingly endless basis. And while surrounded by peers all doing the same. I imagine it gets a little competitive. And farcical.
Strange typo in the tweet. Her finger slipped from the ‘I’ key, and hit ‘w’ and ‘e’ instead.
This story is about a year old, but somehow David missed it: South African gin company infuses their alcohol with elephant dung. “I even touched the elephant dung and being close to the animals are very majestic” and “Now they collect the dung themselves, using their bare hands.”
CNN reports that the originators of the shit gin “worked as professors in different fields of biology, but after leaving academia they hatched a plan to move to South Africa to start a business that could contribute to conservation and give back to the community.” So what is it with biologists who want us all to eat shit and bugs?
Well then, Amy, that makes two evil hatey dictators from the “right” peacefully voted out of office, then. How many from the Left?
This is how they justify voter fraud.
“We had to do it. Would you allow the re-election of Hitler?”
Next: punishment for those who protest the voter fraud.
Dark days ahead, I’m afraid.

It appears to be all about the pretending amongst themselves, and forcing you to pretend along with them.

Reminds me a bit of Jeh Johnson, Obama’s DHS secretary, saying that the election of Trump was a “dangerous experiment” that “we” engaged in four years ago, because he was “thoroughly unqualified” due to impulses toward fascism and autocracy. “we” – the subtle hint of “democracy is a mistake” should be ignored, clearly.
The thought – moronic as it is – keeps cropping up that one cannot be authoritarian without being an autocrat, and that any self-directed or independent leader is ipso facto an autocrat. No recognition is given that a limited executive must not unduly delegate decision-making. Indeed, fractal delegation is a hallmark of totalitarianism, because a limited dictator cannot control every aspect of life without near-universal support.
Take the man about whom one probably hears the word “autocrat” more than any other – Syngman Rhee. A dictator, certainly, who engaged in political repression and used the army to eliminate communists… but once political winds changed, he was out on his ear, because his repression (while brutal) was superficial and largely with the assent of the population. A “practical” oppression for the purpose of retaining power, and combating existential threats to that power – not an ideological one per se. Lewis’ Robber Baron in political form, not Lewis’ Moral Busybody.
So why is it that lefties like to scream “autocrat!” when they think it’s a smarter word than “dictator” – yet, by the strictest meaning of the word, even less accurate? Well, the “smarter” is a big part, since the left believes in a false meritocracy of the smartest being the most morally pure, but I think it exposes what the leftie fears.
The leftie does not fear East Germany, because a sort of neo-feudal oppressive state, crushing and bloated, is necessary for an ideological purification of the population. After all, if Oppressor Club has a chance of welcoming one into membership, one might get to rule.
No, what is terrifying is autocratic rule, no matter how disinterested or benevolent, because it would mean a government not purifying the population of its sins by Education and the panopticon, and more importantly, a government in which the People Who Are Smartest are not sharing rule amongst themselves. A King has a quota for lickspittles, but a distributed parasitism has room for everyone. This time we won’t just end up with a rump Politburo, we promise! Everyone will get a chance to oppress! More terrifying, a simple oppressive state with widespread popular support might think to rid itself of undesirables – which I think many of the activist left know they would qualify as, if for nothing else than inability to function in society.
So, ahead the golden light of communism, where the King is All of Us Who Are Good. Behind, the terror of a King who might condemn one for one’s continual acts of knobbery, or even worse, make fun of one. Thus, the seeing of a man *reducing the role of government* and cutting back on federal administration as a potential dictator. Because a direct man is an autocrat is a dictator is a totalitarian… a total inversion, in stages.
A former DHS head confusing geopolitical terms or deliberately engaging in dishonesty of this scale might raise a question as to whether it was Mr. *Trump* who was unqualified.
…because a sort of neo-feudal oppressive state, crushing and bloated, is necessary for an ideological purification of the population…. Mustn’t Pepe over Tovarich Bernie, famed for his smashing of the system.

Similar to what I was just telling a friend on MeWe, the meaning of words is anything they want now. They effectively control language because they control the culture and especially the online world. And no one of any stature objects. Yet another instance of slowly boiling the frog.
Certainly dodged a bullet, in any case
What bullet did who dodge, Rafer?
Four more years of a president who pushed absurd conspiracy theories about a “stolen election” and incited a violent attack against his own legislature, for starters. I’m sure another term would have just gone swimmingly…
Ah, the logical processes of the Left! Rafer, if Donald Trump had been officially re-elected, he wouldn’t have been talking about a “stolen election,” would he?
Rafer, Trump did not incite violence. This is in stark contrast to numerous “respectable” politicians on the left (to say nothing of journalists, academics, entertainers, etc) who explicitly incited violence.
“the Left”. Good one…
Rafer, you mean like these statements?
“I just don’t know why there aren’t uprisings all over the country. Maybe there will be.”
“Protesters should not let up.”
“There needs to be unrest in the streets.”
And for the Biden Administration: “If you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and create a crowd and you push back on them and you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere.”
That what you mean?
Also: shielding rioters and arsonists from arrest and prosecution. Bailing out violent Antifa/BLM thugs. Threatening to prosecute/actually prosecuting citizens who defend themselves from these leftist thugs, while showing citizens that the left can commit violence with impunity.
1. Donald Trump is greatly defective, but for the last four years the U.S. has enjoyed non-warfare and economic prosperity (with even some spring-back after the lockdowns). And he hasn’t tried to censor me (or get his partisans to shut me down or get me fired) for my speaking of my own deviant, roughly Objectivist, political inclinations.
Most of the practical political chaos during the last four years arises from efforts, often underhanded, to be rid of him. Even if all that is amplified by his habit of handing himself into the clutches of his enemies.
2. As for a stolen U.S. election… well, there were enough evident examples of fraud and misbehavior in big municipalities for us to know that there were numerous *attempts* to steal the election. There always are some, and surely more this last year than usual. What’s unclear (and what the Trump camp cannot quickly prove) is that is was of the quantity needed to steal the election. At present, we don’t have strong protections against election fraud in the U.S.; they are far weaker than those in Western Europe. We must only *presume* that the last election was not stolen.
3. If we do want to have some basic political peacefulness in the U.S., it’s going to require some restraint by many people who aren’t accustomed to it. It makes no sense to slander Donald Trump (or Joe Biden) as a literal fascist, and then treat his lack of probity as some sort of limbo bar to slip under. This Amy Siskind’s delusions are the same as the BLM and antifa rioters, and their self-excuse.
The Capitol Hill mob surely felt themselves justified to disorder on account of the 2020 riots. I think the Capitol Hill mob will be a one-off… for now. But a partisan double standard for political violence *cannot* hold forever.
Is there a word for this level of stupidity, ignorance, and cluelessness? I guess I’m impressed by her achievement, but not in a positive way.
Is there a word for this level of stupidity, ignorance, and cluelessness?
Yes, “academic”, or “journalistic” both come to mind. If you want to go a level higher than mere “academic”, you can use “Ivy League”.
I think the Capitol Hill mob will be a one-off…
Not really, the left was peachy keen with the idea when they did it.
Darn those right wing authoritarians and their dictators.
Darn those right wing authoritarians and their dictators.
“Pam Keith, Esq” So, not just a Democrat Party racist left-winger, a stinking lawyer too. (And it appears that she has deleted that tweet.)
We must only *presume* that the last election was not stolen.
We can also presume through their actions. Democratic governors have repeatedly resisted any attempts at checking voter rolls, and any attempt to do so is considered voter suppression and racism.
We can also presume through their actions.
Democrats have been working for decades to corrupt voting integrity.

Despite all that it was still necessary to simultaneously stop counting in 4 (or was it 5) key states to allow the 4 a.m. vote dumps to “right the ship”.

Speaking of lefty self-delusion, is it just me or was the poem read yesterday at Biden’s inauguration, particularly banal and inept?
I mean how about this:

That’s real facebook poetry right there.
Yet, already all my lefty friends are cooing over it and quite beside themselves with adoration for its writer. And no doubt it will now be on all school reading lists along with similar doggerel by Maya Angelou.
And if you don’t like it, then you’re clearly a bad person.
Antifa smash Democrat windows in Portland?
Biden and Kameraden are about to learn that when you lie down with Antifa dogs you arise with fleas.
Perceptions of wrong-doing are strong and can last lifetimes. The feeling that the establishment and particularly the media have been part of it are especially strong. Continuing to rub it in your face is counter-productive in the extreme unless they are really convinced that 1984 worked and that Twitter reflects the nations mood. I don’t see how this Dear Leader schtick can end well.
The feeling that the establishment and particularly the media have been part of it is especially strong.
As, for instance, when the BBC immediately denounced suggestions of fraud as categorically “false” before any evidence had been scrutinised and before any such determination could have been made.
Strangely, Portland police appear to have rediscovered their gonads and responded with a crackdown including CS gas.
What could cause such a reversal of policy, I wonder?
And the tongue-bath begins.

” Speaking of lefty self-delusion, is it just me or was the poem read yesterday at Biden’s inauguration, particularly banal and inept?”
There’s always something ridiculous about poetry written for modern political occasions. Essentially poetry celebrating dull bureaucratic occasions.
Sure, there was court poetry in previous centuries. But the court poets were largely left to their own devices.
Gorman really did her best with the formal requirements of the occasion: it called for inoffensive traditional-sounding platitudes.
I’m happy to see Trump go. He had a few high points as president but his baseless claims of election fraud, culminating in a feral riot on Capitol Hill, has done appalling damage to US democracy.
Antifa smash Democrat windows in Portland?
Yes, peacefully.

tongue bath
Then why bother with the order?
Once Biden is removed in about 3 months and POTUS Harris is running the show Americans will be pining for Trump. At least Trump was FUN in a rather mercurial way. It was the pandemic that derailed him. I do hope voters demand paper and pen voting in person and lobby for the removal of postal votes. Machine voting with software should also be scrapped. Trump was good because the left hated him and China and Iran feared him.
To me, the important fact is not that the vote was jiggered, or that officials and journalists had no interest in investigating or explaining. The important fact was that the election was validated, first passively by the Supreme Court, and then formally by Congress.
Tongue bath ? What tongue bath ?
No such a thing, merely baseless claims of tongue bathing.
Speaking of lefty self-delusion, is it just me or was the poem read yesterday at Biden’s inauguration, particularly banal and inept?
Sophomoric poetry to go with sophomoric opinions.
And the clown show begins.
“Men can now join the women’s 100M US olympic team…”
Is all this transgender athlete garbage a plot by former East German officials to justify the hormones given to their female athletes? 🙂
Tongue bath? What tongue bath?
That reminds me: When Harold Washington, Chicago’s first black mayor, died suddenly, posters appeared on the South Side depicting him rising bodily into Heaven accompanied by Jesus & etc.
Rafer, you mean like these statements?

“Protesters should not let up.”

That what you mean?
You’re gonna have to take it up with the people who said those things, I’m afraid.
It’s not such an unimaginable leap that someone can be disgusted by both the Woke left and the Trumpist right at the same time.
In fact, the two have more in common than either side would care to admit.
Whatever you are smoking, it’s pretty powerful stuff.
Agree. Burn Loot Murder in the name of Saint George Floyd – media stands in front of it saying “mostly peaceful protest”. Heck – we’ve had protests on capitol hill before – during Kavanaugh’s hearings, and even before that, what was that pussy group that used to like to break in on hearings…not Pussy Riot, Code Pink! No one called them feral rioters.
Ferals in the streets taking over public and private property and calling it Autonomous Zones, and that’s perfectly fine – just peacefully protesting. Hauling people from their cars and beating them, smashing the cars – that’s perfectly legal. Burning down private buildings – no not arson, nothing illegal – just more peaceful protesting. Same bunch tries to burn down a federal building with federal employees inside, so the National Guard is called in: HOW DARE YOU! Lowly citizen defending yourself against people who are actively trying to damage you and your property: HOW DARE YOU!
Despite all that it was still necessary to simultaneously stop counting in 4 (or was it 5) key states to allow the 4 a.m. vote dumps to “right the ship”.
Flash drives containing 10-15 thousand votes all for Biden, just enough to put him on top – nothing to see here, move along. Oh and you will be banned from Twitter if you mention any of that because LIES! I need to find the link to the Pennsylvania governor who said that about “lies” not being allowed speech. Things he considers lies. Cause I know for a fact you can make stuff up about Trump and broadcast it day and night and that’s fine. You could do the same thing about GW Bush, too – I know, I used to do it for fun. You’d be amazed what craziness people would believe if it was negative about Bush.
And yet a bunch of non-Code Pink, non-Lefty protesters raise hell on Capitol Hill and THAT is what has done appalling damage to US democracy? Seriously? I can’t imagine that people actually believe this stuff. It’s copy/paste from some boilerplate of Approved Thought.
The fact that only certain protests are Allowed and that unlawful activities are allowed with impunity if they are done in association with those Allowed protests – that’s what does the damage. When we are no longer a nation of laws, when the law is applied depending on the whims of the ruling class, that’s when the damage is done.
Rafer, perhaps you can explain away how so many Democrat politicians not only made excuses for Antifa and BLM violence, but actually encouraged it and protected the thugs from arrest and prosecution.
Six months of Kristallnacht tends to open the eyes of those who are able to see.
When we are no longer a nation of laws, when the law is applied depending on the whims of the ruling class, that’s when the damage is done.
Oh we’re a nation of laws alright. Many, many laws too numerous to count nor account for. Hence we are at the whims of the ruling class, lawyers and judges. Legislated into anarchy partly because the of repeated expression “there otta be a law” was never refuted. Because more jobs for the lawyers our colleges and universities were spewing out like the Devil’s Coffee.
pst314, please show me one instance of Biden, Obama, either Clinton, either Bush, or any presidential candidate for that matter, giving a wink and a nod to violent mobs of their own supporters storming a sitting legislature because an election didn’t turn out the way they wanted. Just one.
..please show me one instance of Biden, Obama, either Clinton, either Bush, or any presidential candidate for that matter, giving a wink and a nod to violent mobs of their own supporters storming a sitting legislature…
Perhaps you could point to said nods and winks in Trump’s address. As for Democrats calling for uprisings, are direct quotes from the Speaker of the House and a sitting Congressman some how disqualified? While Pelosi isn’t technically a presidential candidate, she is second on the presidential succession list.
It is to laugh. Perhaps that oh-so-specific instance mentioned above never needed to happen because the sitting legislature, the federal judicial system, the entrenched bureaucracy, Obama, H Clinton, and assorted toadies of said all worked non-stop for 4 years to overturn an election that didn’t turn out the way they wanted.
I’d like to see the exact words of approval Trump gave – exact quotes mind, not personal interpretations or paraphrasing – because the words Trump actually says are generally NOT the ones everyone and their brother says he said.
>an election didn’t turn out the way they wanted
>”a wink and a nod”
>”storming a sitting legislature”
Tendentious, bloody-minded, and juvenile.
Your whole reading is premised from a position that “no reasonable person could object to the election” and then follows through to “Trump and his supporters cannot possibly object in good faith” and attempts to share time with “Trump is unreasonable”. You accuse him of guilt which hinges on premeditated bad action – which is only premeditated bad action if he shares your grounding that the election was legitimate.
His statements closest to your supposed “wink and a nod” were of the “I can’t condone it, but I can understand it” nature – *prefaced with a statement that violence must end*. That is completely different in category to a shrugging/smirking statement of condonement as offered by the examples above. Again, you impute bad faith of the “none could possibly believe that the election was fraudulent” nature. Purely self-serving of you.
Which of Obama, Clinton W/H, or Bush was forced to leave the White House while (in solidarity with supporters) offering statement that an election had been compromised? You unnecessarily (quite deliberately, I might add) confine the actor to a president or candidate and the dispute to an election – were you in the least bit honest you would recognize that mobs of democrats with the support of legislators and others have repeatedly held violent protest against anything under the sun – appointment of supreme court justices, signing of executive orders… the list goes on.
Trump’s own inauguration was marred by violent protest… but it was not a presidential candidate giving the “necessary” wink and nod – it was a large part of the whole apparatus of government.
No such mob *against* Trump required an endorsement of specific figures to occur. For a large protest gathering to form on behalf of Trump did rely on Trump’s support, that is true, but only because Trump himself was the prominent figure in agreement with them.
So Trump is to be unpersoned immediately, and the unconstitutional abuses of power set about by the Dems are purely inevitable, because Trump held a protest speech on the Mall, and condoned *protest* in support of those protesting the Electoral College vote, because a handful of people up at the Capitol broke glass? Before he had said anything that could possibly be construed as “ride in and give ’em hell, boys”? The same “violent mob” that in majority wandered around the building on an unguided tour between the velvet ropes and on finding the chamber were told “sorry, you can’t enter”. “oh”. Others of which were let in by the police.
There is something of a farce in a “mob” of the generally law-abiding-but-easily-led.
By all means, protest those who committed vandalism. But if you protest the Capitol Crowd as a whole, be sure to also condemn in the strongest possible terms those whose mob in Boston precipitated the Boston Massacre. Unless of course you think that only those you agree with can have protests, and that the legitimacy of motives is what determines a “Peaceful Protest” apart from looting, arson, and murder.
“we toppled a dictator”
Usually, when I encounter the idea of “toppling” a dictator, I generally think that said toppling was done by extra-legal or unconstitutional means (ie a revolution, usually violent). Is this some Freudian acknowledgement on the part of the writer that yes, indeed, the election was invalid? I’m thinking so.
And as an aside, while I don’t read all comment threads here, this is the first time I’ve seen such blatant shills showing up to fling poo at the regulars. They really are desperate to have all us sane folks just shut up and stop noticing, aren’t they?
Well stated, Sporkatus.
Steve E, are you really not aware that Trump and his people worked literally the exact same crowd on the very day it made its way to the Capitol?
What would you actually expect a crowd like that to do, if you tell it, “If you don’t fight like hell you’re not going to have a country anymore”? Or that the election was stolen?
And what the hell was Rudy Giuliani talking about when he called for “trial by combat”?
The person quoted in the original post was rightly ridiculed for calling Trump a “dictator”. He was not. But he absolutely was a demagogue.
The curse of the NeverTrump: such vehement abject rejection of Trump the man on aesthetics (self-reinforcing in confirmation bias) that a slanted lens sets in the eye to interpret everything the man does in more histrionic terms than the left… because he’s brought such a coarseness to the Superiority Complex right that the stain just won’t wash away.
I personally described Trump’s acts regarding the Obama Birth Certificate affair as distasteful, and referred to him as a clown, but at the beginning of the 2016 primaries realized that all other candidates had eliminated from themselves the ability to speak plainly and without prevaricating. I didn’t expect that he’d win, only that he’d drag things into the light that needed dragging and possibly promote some *spine*. It was not to be. In the strangest of ways, he alone was left standing at the end, in possession of his own unique integrity.
Well, alright then.
His governance since, in such matters as the border wall (attempting again and again to secure funding and arrange it, to a point succeeding) and support of the pro-life movement has convinced me that he views politics as transactional with his voters, and that he has a genuine love for the America which was, somewhat is, and always should be.
My ego is not so wrapped up in the Buckley vision of a Republican elite beating the left at their own “class and integrity” game that I can abandon him for coarseness.
Rafer, you are a buffoon.
The “same crowd” which part at the Capitol, nonetheless *were not listening to Trump’s words in due time to head to the Capitol from the Mall*. And which exhortation to “fight like hell” clearly should be construed to… attack legislators? This is not reasonable.
You continue with the “Trump knows the election wasn’t stolen, like any reasonable person would” begged question in lights, with bells on, and continue to alloy it with “Trump is dangerously unreasonable”. Pick. One.
Reference to final resolution in a gladiator movie (such as the appropriately named *Gladiator*, oddly enough) in which a man demands to be recognized, with all forces arrayed against him, is exactly the same as forming a posse to roust legislators. I should have realized from the part where Russell Crowe started threatening Senators – other than the part where that didn’t happen.
Buffoon.
She has missed having a daddy for four years.
Steve E, are you really not aware that Trump and his people worked literally the exact same crowd on the very day it made its way to the Capitol?
I’m sorry but I thought you were going to supply something that Trump actually said. Not sure what worked the crowd means. Is it the same as the stand-up comedian who comes out at the beginning of live taping for a sitcom? As has been pointed out, it may be doubtful that crowd that charged the Capitol was “the exact same crowd” since it’s a 45 minute walk to the Capitol from where Trump was speaking. It’s not possible that “exact same crowd” would have been there to hear all of Trump’s address and at the Capitol at the same time.
This blog has been mercifully political troll-free for as long as I can remember (Hal was a bit different). Best not to encourage our new friend, there are more than enough other sites for that.
@Steve E: Indeed, and I have heard but not verified that the “festivities” had already begun before 45 minutes after start of speech had even elapsed, so the first rowdies would have heard not one single word.
Inconvenient implication that Trump is not responsible in the manner they state, therefore ignored.
It is also conveniently ignored that at least one undeniable provocateur was present, along with a mix of “loves a good protest” people of spinning ideological compass.
(Hal was a bit different)
However, in comparison a voice of reason and sanity, which is a sad state of things.
Sporkatus. So you are unaware that the Ellipse, where Trump riled up his crowd, is within easy walking distance of the Capitol. Even Google maps could have cleared this confusion up for you. You also seem to think that I claim to know what was happening inside Trump’s mind.
Not surprising you would miss all this, though, seeing as Gladiator is your go-to source of information about the world around you.
What you are ignorant of is that the “riled crowd”, easy walking distance or no, is not a reconcilable fact with what took place. “Trump delivered a speech, a crowd full of piss and vinegar from his speech (in which he told them to be violent), headed over to the Capitol and broke in (as he wanted them to)” is a compelling narrative which is – nonetheless – utterly false. Nonsensical.
I do not think you claim to know what was happening in Trump’s mind. However, there can only be malice in claiming the election was stolen if you do not believe the election was stolen. All other things described by you extend from this First Malice, which cannot be reconciled with your framework, and which you allow to color everything else.
Gladiator
Cheeky, but idiotic. I’m not allowed to observe that trial by combat is a reference to pop cultural images of last resort, as it is clearly such a founding principle of American jurisprudence.
Since you’re making requests of others for citations, please indicate to me where “trial by combat” could in any possible way equate to a Storming of the Bastille or a resort to main force. Your two options are “Rudy was blathering, which in some way equated to violence in the most indirect and illogical possible way” or “Rudy intended to paint a picture of a final moment of bravery”. Among these options is not “Rudy has vast unexamined psychic powers and communicates by code phrase”.
I’m sorry but I thought you were going to supply something that Trump actually said.
Steve E, Did you read the very next sentence I wrote, or just copy/pasted the first one and left it at that?
Sporkatus,
For people like “Rafer” who are so convinced, utterly and completely, that OrangeManBad lost the Most.Fraud.Free.Fair.Transparent.Election.EVAH, they sure do want to sprout like mushrooms in forums of WrongThink to pound their puny chests in anger. Their brethren demanding re-education or gulags or destruction of 74 million voters who dissented from their received wisdom.
They all sound a tad defensive over their anointed, CCP purchased, Faker-In-Chief-of-the-United-States.
What would you actually expect a crowd like that to do, if you tell it, “If you don’t fight like hell you’re not going to have a country anymore”?
I was expecting something that would be “giving a wink and a nod to violent mobs of their own supporters storming a sitting legislature.” That quote doesn’t quite do that. Not to mention it is doubtful that the people who actually breached the Capitol even heard those words. Not to mention that breaking windows and breaching public buildings has become a Democrat and mainstream media approved method of peaceful protest. It is therefore, by their own definitions difficult to see where the violence occurred, other than, of course, the violence used by the Capitol Police when they shot a peaceful protestor. Oh, it’s also been discovered that many of the “Trump supporters” were in fact Antifa members attempting to incite actual violence.
This blog has been mercifully political troll-free for as long as I can remember (Hal was a bit different). Best not to encourage our new friend, there are more than enough other sites for that.
You mean you forgot about Tiny Minnow already. Our host David can regale you with troll stories.
@Steve E. In fairness (?) to those legislators who took it as a terrible attack and a threat on their lives, previous incursions of rowdies have been condoned and shepherded by the left, so if something happened in the course of Code Pink cornering Jeff Flake in an elevator or whatever, well, it’s not as if they’re doing anything to anyone important.
A pet which urinates on the drapery is still a pet. This (even with connivance) was not a known beast in the house, and if capable of the sorts of things unleashed leftists would be – well, projection exacts its toll, and the guilty flee when no man pursueth.

@Darleen: Hoyt is a delight, though I honestly don’t read her that much. Or rather, her fiction works are still winning handily over her nonfiction for me on a word count basis.
They all sound a tad defensive over their anointed, CCP purchased, Faker-In-Chief-of-the-United-States.
They also sound down-right offensive as well. Witness New York Times opinion columnist Will Wilkinson tweeting:
I’d provide a link, but he’s taken his tweets private. Here’s a link to SDA where Kate has screen capped the tweet.
For our friend Rafer that’s what an actual call to violence looks like. Specific. To-the-point. In context. No way to be taken metaphorically.
“Sporkatus. So you are unaware that the Ellipse, where Trump riled up his crowd, is within easy walking distance of the Capitol. Even Google maps could have cleared this confusion up for you.”
And you ignored the earlier point that the speech had not wrapped up *before* people entered the Capitol, and that it takes a finite amount of time to get from the Ellipse to the Capitol Building, more than was available for the rally crowd to have been the same crowd that entered. The timeline doesn’t support your slander.
I consulted Google Maps as recommended. It gives walking times from the Ellipse to the Capitol (using the default points for each named locations) of between 33 and 36 minutes depending on route taken. This is presumably the time required for an average individual walking that distance on an ordinary day; having been to protests and other events with crowds, an estimate of 45 minutes to get from Trump’s speaking location to the Capitol grounds is accurate as a minimum.
But don’t take my gut-feel for it. I had friends who were at the Trump rally, about three people back from the stage. The speech wrapped up, they walked to the Capitol, and by the time they arrived about 45-50 minutes later the intrusion was already well underway. Further, their account of the day confirms that there were two different gatherings going on with very different flavors: the Trump rally was very patriotic and upbeat, had families with kids in tow, people were happily sharing extra food and water (since the mayor had shut down all restaurants in the area to spite the rally participants), and was generally like a happy, friendly neighborhood social. Hardly the makings of Reichstag II: Insurrection Boogaloo – The Riot Worse Than Pearl Harbor.
Of course, none of this will matter to Rafer. He’s not intellectually honest. And we all know that he knows that he’s not.
By Rafer’s standards, Obama should have been impeached (and imprisoned) for saying “get in your neighbors faces” and “punch back twice as hard” and “if they bring a knife we bring a gun”. (And those weren’t the only things that the corporatist “light bringer” said.)
Furthermore, as I said, various Democrat politicians protected Antifa thugs so that they could continue to riot, burn, and beat up people. Biden denied that Antifa was a real thing. Pelosi and Harris praised the BLM and Antifa rioters.
And we should not forget the fraudulent investigations of Trump (no Russia collusion, merely fabricated by Russia’s actual friends in America) and Obama’s use of the IRS against the astonishingly peaceful Tea Party people.
@APL: I always felt as though, if I got too close to Minnow, I would get a contact high of some kind.
I was never entirely sure of what.
The Age newspaper [Victoria, Australia] this morning regales readers about the new décor in the Oval Office:
“Among many changes in the Oval Office, former president Donald Trump’s light gold drapes have been replaced with a set that hung during Bill Clinton’s presidency.”
I couldn’t help but wonder if they had randy Bill’s drapes cleaned in case there were stains on them. The Democrats are certainly tasteless, thick and out of touch with the morality of at least half the Nation’s population.
By the way, what was it Biden said about wanting to take Trump behind the barn and beat the shit out of him?
Reefer Jenkins sounds suspiciously similar to the SDA troll UnMe.

Our roundheels VP Harris urged her twitter followers to donate to a fund to bail these reprobates out of jail.
D-Day was a doddle compared to this last election. Wading through the surf trying desperately to reach cover as German machine guns cut down your platoon like so much ripe wheat? Paahhh! Try standing in line at Starbucks, desperate for your $6 cafe au lait, while having to listen to same MAGA-hatted white-supremacist red neck espouse the “genius” of Donald Trump.
[ Stops playing Hades’ Star. ]
So, what did I miss…?
[ Resumes playing Hades’ Star. ]
please show me one instance of Biden, Obama, either Clinton, either Bush, or any presidential candidate for that matter, giving a wink and a nod to violent mobs of their own supporters storming a sitting legislature
How’s your memory — does it go back two years?
https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/409999-scores-of-kavanaugh-protesters-arrested-after-descending-on-senate-building
The hatred stoked up against Kavanaugh was not cooled by any Democrat. Why would they? The media thought doing such things back then was cool. https://www.glamour.com/gallery/kavanaugh-protests-washington-dc
Go ahead, Antifa.com. Link SFW.
I am sure this will go nowhere, but I am also sure this will get the never Trump “conservatives” headed towards their fainting couches.
Somebody cue up Fred Rogers’ “It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood “.

One may also ask “Where were the guns? Where were the Molotov cocktails? Where were the balloons filled with ‘stuff’? Where were the shields? Where were the helmets? Where were those rather basic things you would expect to be present when attempting to take over a government in the 21st century (given what we know happened in the 20th century)?”
NOBODY who had any serious knowledge of violence would have looked at the events of January 6, 2021 and deduced that was an attempted coup attempt.
