Dining out isn’t the most eco-friendly activity, thanks to the carbon footprint of food brought in and the waste inherent in running a restaurant. Now, an effort by California restaurants wants diners to help fight climate change – by paying more.
Concerned eateries can join the Restore California Renewable Restaurant Program and add an optional 1% surcharge to diners’ checks. The money will go towards a public fund to help farmers reduce carbon in their food production practices.

I hate to break it to these city dwellers, but given that sweet, sweet CO2 make plants grow big and strong, that is pretty much what farmers get paid to do anyway.

What struck me about the efforts of those Israelis working to save the lives their enemies was that the likely reason such things fail to gain much traction in the Muslim world is that such efforts are likely explained, when the patients return home, as proof of the greatness of Allah that he used his omnipotent power to control the dirty Jews to save the blessed Muslims. Like how great is that, right? Granted I am greatly speculating here, but to me it is the most logical explanation as to why, as great as Christian and Jewish charity to the Islamic world has been, time and time again, though earthquakes and cyclones and tsunamis, one hears not a word of gratitude in return. Especially in regards to the Jews.
