Here’s one for the SJWs. Depending on the source you consult, blacks are about 12-18% of the U. S. population; depending on where you live, they’re 0-100% of the local population. For ease of figuring, let’s arbitrarily say 15% of the people any individual white knows are black. So I know, again for ease of figuring, 100 people, 15 of whom are black. (This is pretty close to the actual number of people I know, though in real life the ethnic distribution is more like 40/50/10 black/white/other).
Now we move to the subset of “people Pogonip knows whom she would trust to help manage Son’s affairs after she’s dead.” There are 8 of those. 5 of them are black.

The “University of Brighton” is just the Brighton Poly with a pretentious new name, courtesy of Mr A L Blair.
When I was at Sussex (in less inclusive days, when students had to, you know, exhibit some sort of academic aptitude, no matter how feeble or inchoate) the Poly was a bit of a joke. It had a chip on its shoulder about its neighbour up the road at Falmer.
So chips on shoulders and Brighton Poly go together. This Turner fellow is plainly a complete arse. The fact that he is black has nothing to do with his academic findings, of course. Or rather than “findings”, perhaps one should say “opinions”.

I wouldn’t try to be reasonable in the sense of hoping to persuade them. Ideologues, sociopaths and people who argue in bad faith aren’t generally susceptible to such things. And I tend to avoid personal contact with people fitting that description. But if there’s a third party, an audience, it can sometimes be useful to reveal the kind of creature your opponent is, and the tricks of their trade. And that’s more likely to be achieved if you retain control, rather than flailing wildly. (See, for instance, various interviews with Jordan Peterson, in which the interviewers have often revealed more than they intended, i.e., about themselves.)
We’d better give them everything they want or they’ll call us names. And fart in our general direction.
I don’t think any of us are champing at the bit to let our inner racists run riot. It’s probably instructive to replace “racist” with “offensive” in this case. If I’m going to be called privileged or racist or sexist or whatever regardless of how much I try to be polite, then I’ve no incentive to make the effort. And yes, that generally means that I end up demanding that my counterparts defend their baseless assertions, and pointing out their bad-faith arguments, and pushing their shallow policies to their logical (and catastrophic) conclusions.
And if it gets me uninvited to future gatherings of such creatures, that’s a consequence I can live with.

Apparently, this is the standard of scholarship now. It’s “applied social science.” And these ideas, these emphatic convictions, aren’t just accidentally wrong. They’re wrong in order to foster endless resentment and neurotic prostration. The scolding is the prize, it’s status too, and jobs for the scolders, and so it must never end.
This is what happens when the left builds a nest in academia.

If you’re talking about racism in the sense of putting on a white hood and burning crosses is people’s front gardens, then sure. On the other hand, I could perfectly well imagine someone thinking “Well, no matter how much effort I put in trying to understand people from different cultures and make allowances for different cultural outlooks I still get called a white supremacist Nazi, so I guess in future I’ll just save myself the hassle and only associate with people like myself.”
In the long run, though, I think the danger is less people feeling free to unleash their inner racist, and more people feeling compelled to. After all, if the left get their way and turn society into a feuding mess of racial interest groups where the nosiest and most aggrieved group automatically wins, the only real options are “form your own noisy and aggrieved interest group” or “get screwed over”.

I think the growth in open White Supremacists is a delayed effect of the diversity movement. So long as the Powers That Be continue to promote “diversity” there will be a steady increase in them.
