Well, if you’re taught that you got a ‘D’ on that English test because of “white supremacy,” and taught that grammar is “an unjust language structure,” and that the correction of basic spelling errors is “an oppressive practice” and proof of “an inherently racist society,” then it’s hard to see any obvious practical benefit, or any motive for improvement. As a mental habit, reinforced by supposedly statusful people and in the name of education, the likely effects are irresponsibility, resentment and ultimately failure.

As noted previously, by the time Dr Inoue’s students have figured out that employers don’t generally regard ungrammatical job applications riddled with inept spelling as a good sign, and that the debts they took on in order to be schooled in pretentious grievance aren’t getting any smaller, it’ll be too late.
