There Are Witches In The Library
Imagine, for a moment, that you’re a conservative student at a small, low-key meeting of College Republicans in a space you’ve booked in advance, in the campus library, when suddenly a crowd of indignant leftists force their way in and start shouting and behaving hysterically, and randomly calling you names, and who then blame you for the disruption that they themselves are causing.
Because, and I quote, “Your existence is a disturbance.”
No one expects the Spanish Inquisition.
Note that, as is the custom, The Achingly Woke And Indignant™ are remarkably incurious, and don’t seem remotely interested in the actual views of the people they’re insulting and whose meeting they’re disrupting. “Dialogue is violence,” they declare, proudly.
At least this story has an upside, however minor: The protesters couldn’t get any bystanders to join them (for now). Of course, we are talking about protesters so woke that they call the College Republicans fascist. If “Dialog is violence” are elections genocide? Oh wait, hats cause genocide, so elections must be extinction level events.
Note the lightning-fast response by the college–two hours–to the disruption. The cynic in me wonders whether the college powers really wanted the protesters to be successful.

Lefties project.
Note the lightning-fast response by the college–two hours–to the disruption.
There’s also the question of what kind of person goes out of their way to harass random people about whom they know nothing, barging into their meeting and calling them “racists,” “fascists” and “white supremacists,” and accusing them of engaging in “violent, racist activity” – i.e., sitting down and chatting – and then keeps on doing it for two hours, until, eventually, the police intervene.
As a way to spend one’s time, it’s… a little odd.
The commotion culminated in one of the student activists running out into the main library area screaming that there were “Nazis downstairs,”
Give. Me. Strength.
One more time, “If you can’t actually structure a rational argument, never mind. Just keep shouting ‘racist!’ and flap your arms about.”
If some foaming-at-the-mouth loons broke into my meeting, screaming that my existence was a disturbance and that dialog is violence, I do believe I’d feel threatened enough to defend myself and my conferees with energy and vigor. Perhaps we should advise our friends to start carrying the 1,500-page hardcover version of Jefferson’s collected writings.
A kilogram of Jefferson’s wisdom to the side of the head might help one’s attackers to better understand the ‘intersectionality’ of words and violence. And when the inevitable tribunal came to pass, one could insist that one was merely trying to provide the instruction that one’s professors lacked the ability and desire to impart.
“Defending the rights of groups that the government tries to censor because of their viewpoints is at the heart of what the First Amendment and the ACLU stand for, even when the viewpoints are not popular,” says Brenda L. Jones, executive director of the ACLU-EM. “If we don’t protect the free speech rights of all, we risk having the government arbitrarily decide what is, or is not, acceptable speech.”(My italics).
One wonders why the ACLU hasn’t stepped in with a federal lawsuit- maybe because this is happening in college rather than as a result of heavy-handed gummint intervention. Or are they just running scared from the situational-irony-fuelled shitstorm-to-end-all-shitstorms that would ensue if they did weigh in?
Further to the above: maybe they don’t have locus standi? Can any American readers assist?

The Chicago Police Department used to get fine results from applying the Chicago Yellow Pages phone directory to the top of the head of a seated subject, with vigor.
This was, you understand, in the bad, bad old days. Now they just turn them over to the State’s Attorney office, where they gently admonish them and let them go on a personal recognizance bond.

Oh, that’s an easy one. The ACLU has chosen sides, and they side with the kampus kapos. The ACLU has become much more selective in its appeal.
What strikes me is the mental uniformity of these people. The generic slogans, regurgitated almost randomly, the signature vanity, the self-satisfied disregard for facts, or reciprocity, or anything approaching realism. It’s eerie. I realise campus leftism has always attracted a kind of vain, dumb malevolence, but with the lowering of admissions standards, the uniformity seems to have intensified. It’s like seeing the same nasty, screeching id in a thousand different bodies.

Which reminds me- if anyone hasn’t seen it yet, the David Fincher produced (and occasionally directed) Mindhunter is worth a watch.

It’s a predictable result of our educational systems. Especially in lefty domains like California. What strikes me is that it’s taken so long to attract main stream attention. It’s always (in my lifetime, anyway) been there. You’re just not supposed to notice or comment on it. It’s gauche. Which, AIUI is a frency word for “left”. Why, it’s almost poetic. But not really.
David – I too am constantly amazed at the uniformity of the liberal fascists. It is so curious to me that if you engage a group of conservatives (or, indeed any group of normal people) on some issue, you’re likely to get a variety of thoughtful responses. But, when you engage a Liberal Fascist – and it doesn’t matter if its a group or alone – the level of uniformity is absolutely creepy. They say the same things, in the same mind-numbed way, almost like they’re reading from a script.
I dated a girl, way back in college who was one of these mind-numbed types. Smart as a whip in real life, but when it came to anything political, it was like her reading comprehension regressed to a 2nd grade level. Couldn’t formulate her own rational arguments, couldn’t summarize an opposing argument. All she could do was spout slogans. In the end, it came down to her admitting that when she actually took time to listen to and understand my arguments (as above, she couldn’t formulate a rebuttal) …it meant she would have to change her mind (not necessarily to agree with me, but to give my argument some credence instead of simply calling me a poor-hater) or she had to give up the pretext of being a reasonable person.
Her ego couldn’t allow her to do it – change her mind that is. Last time I checked (decades ago) she married wealth and spends her time expressing concern for the poor by attending fundraising galas. I’ve since concluded the creepy, shallow uniformity is a defensive mechanism – a similar thing is built in to all humans at some level when faced with a threat. Liberal Fascists just use it for ego protection. Protecting the ego by refusing to engage ideas that have the power to force a person to change their mind. It’s much easier to understand them if you view them as not particularly sophisticated religionists. Which, explains why their vitriol towards Christians.

And as if on cue:
“You’re not dealing with the reality,” said the woman chanting delusional slogans and screaming at people.
A panel on “civil discourse” Tuesday at the University of California, Los Angeles was shut down by protesters
Step 1: Expulsion.
Step 2: Criminal charges: Assault and battery.
Step 3: Criminal charges: conspiracy to deprive victims of their civil rights..

Yes, and then see what the ACLU does…. there would be a very conflicted amicus curiae.
Flapping your arms and shouting slogans is debate today. For real.
It has been established by the irrefutable proof of loud shouting and banging sticks together along with a few broken windows that Libraries are oppressive acts of racist violence.
Aristotle? He was white, right? And he’s dead.

@Lancastrian Oik and then see what the ACLU does…. there would be a very conflicted amicus curiae
What a dilemma: Is free speech violence and violence free speech, or is it the other way around?
As if on cue:
Occupy 2.0 will likely see more squatting, more broken windows, more invasions of Starbucks, and more disruption of the daily lives of “normies”, but will likely be as rousing a success as its predecessor – at getting Republicans elected.
And witches in Washington
One of the DC Media big shots admits she’s a loony, and nobody better criticize her because she will put a hex on them (and has a lengthy body count to back it up…) Is it any wonder that most ordinary people in the US hold the news media in such a low regard?
Your existence is a disturbance.
Or, “If you’d just stop existing then the voices would stop.”
“… then the voices would stop.”
Yes, a cacophony raging in their heads might explain their behavior.
Stop the hammering!!!
Please stop trying to correct these people, you are trying to teach pigs to sing. You will get muddy, it annoys the pig (with predictable excremental consequences), and imagine for a moment a porcine opera.
When I was in university, the math students discovered that a supersoaker loaded with vinegar aimed at the face was a marvelous deterrent to engineering students bent on mayhem.

Remember, the Jews existence was a disturbance to the Nazis. Which is why they devised the “Final Solution”.
