Friday Ephemera
Do you own an ICBM silo? // Silo makeovers. // USB-powered chainsaw. // A 3-D map of Hong Kong. (h/t, Coudal) // Could you make a toaster from scratch? // A chess set made of vacuum tubes. // Clothing made of leaves. // Origami dollars. // Socialist grades. // Hitchens on evil. // Unusually limber. // LCD monitor porn. It’s curved, it’s big and it’s $8,000. // Fancy a pair of toe shoes? // Modern mega-churches. // Deep zoom the Moon. // Someone didn’t like the Battlestar finale. // The SR-71 Blackbird. A piece of aeronautic art. (h/t, Maggie’s Farm) // More experimental aircraft. // And, via The Thin Man, it’s Mr Richard Cheese.
The ‘elastigirl’ video creeped me out. It can’t be real… can it?

I am disappointed in the iSaw. I rather liked that idea…the PFY in the next cube with his stupid ThinkGeek USB nerf missle launcher wouldn’t know what was coming until it was far, far too late.
I don’t think those toe shoes will catch on. They’re just… wrong. 🙂
Thank you, Sir, for your link, I don’t think I have ever received quite so many hits in such a short time, and ’emphemara’ describes me exactly!

The mega-church photos are great. It seems to be the kind of commission that architects love to get — Frank Lloyd Wright took on quite a few, and I think this is one of his:

Wasn’t there some talk about a Logan’s Run remake?
Dutch,
“Wasn’t there some talk about a Logan’s Run remake?”
After Bryan Singer left the project, it seems to be moored somewhere in production hell. Joseph Kosinski is the latest director attached to it.
